To prevent half of your build getting shredded off by crickets or mandrakes before you've moved 10 centimeters

You’ve heard of the hover problem. Unless you’ve never played over 3k PS and this is the first forum post you are looking at, you know that hovers don’t fit into the game well and dominate in most situations. There are a lot of ideas for fixing them, and a lot of emotion, but a lot of the ideas seem either too complex or too over-the-top for an actual fix. The solution proposed here is certainly not the first time anyone has said it, but I want to put it into perspective and see what the effects of said solution would be. Hovers’ main advantage is their linear, near-instant acceleration. Though there are probably other advantages, I will focus on this one. Reducing hovers’ acceleration and making it a logarithmic curve (like one half of a parabola) would make them more balanced and reduce the clubbing they do currently. One of the real reasons they are able to do much damage is their ability to peek for a second, fire off a quick shot, then pull back suddenly. This makes hitting them much more difficult, and also reduces the usefulness of weapons like ACs, MGs, and other various DPS weapons. The hover vehicle is simply not in their view long enough for real damage. This reduction of acceleration, and therefore of peek shots with cannons and other reload weapons, would also reduce the meta of reload weapons themselves. Its definitely possible that this would make hovers underbalanced, and put ML200s and bigfoots at the top, but that would still be an improvement. It would make it so that multiple types of playstyle would dominate (slow spiders+fast BFs, as opposed to fast hovers) and there would be more variety. Also, hovers have been at the top for 3 years now. It’s time to change. For the people who enjoy hovers and don’t want a nerf, don’t start with the “hovertart!” and the “crybaby!” I am not crying, nor do I even use hovers. I am going for better game balance, not because I get killed by hovers in-game, but because hovers are a detriment to the game. Please leave your thoughts about this idea and your own ideas below.

or remove the perk. This is so totally not in balance. EDIT: i do not agree with those hover hater extremists below.

Greetings, survivors! Today we will tell you about the next newcomer to the Wasteland — the armoured giant Sigurd. And, of course, about the new parts that the gentle military giant will bring in a major update Crossout 0.11.40. Attention: parts shown in this publication are at the development stage. Final versions of parts can differ both externally and functionally. Sigurd grew up in an orphanage and was always bigger than the other kids. However, Sig's shy demeanour never let him fight back against the offenders who often bullied the guy. Besides, he realized his advantage in size and understood that he would easily win any fight. But natural kindness prevented Sigurd from hurting others. Together with two friends, Sig survived the crossout and travelled to the Wasteland until their roads parted. It is said that during solitary wandering through the radioactive deserts, Sigurd crushed some monster with his bare hands and became invulnerable. As a result, the giant joined the ranks of the Steppenwolfs to protect the weak. New parts for Steppenwolfs Sigurd's autocannon is a close-range weapon. Like everything Sigurd has, this little baby is armoured like crazy. Low turn speed and serious recoil compensate for damage and durability. The new cabin will please fans of large dimensions. Its unique perk will allow you to gain a short-term advantage in the offensive. Or defence. Depends on you. Sigurd's external manipulator is a mechanical paw, and Sig claims that he built it himself in memory of the slain radioactive monster. Carrying a bony paw everywhere appeared to be troublesome, while the mechanical one looks cool, and you can always rebuild it. Oh, those Sigurd stories. *** What other parts are there friendly hulk Sigurd? What's the name of the Wasteland's third rookie? We will talk about this in future Crossout developer blogs and stories. Stay tuned about Crossout 0.11.40!

Hovers are the problem, not crickets.

I wont buy the new autocannon to protest for the Nerf of all other autocannons ,especially cyclone that is already bad because take time to shoot and is very big so easy target (asemblers knock down cyclone with 1 hit) . But i will get the giant cabin for sure . If you make that arm usefull and not as an decoration only i bet lot of players will be happy to play with it Example this mechanic arm with big magnet that stuck enemies and you lift them in air can be an nice support gun with 2 energy or 3 .

They can't be used without hovers competitively.

There are some games where that could work, but this one is not one of them, there are already some builds that outclass most others due to various reasons, mobility combined with tankiness, exploiting of bad physics systems etc, the last thing we need is those sort of things repairing Also that feature as proven by that test, was only an excuse to make the matches last longer with the same rewards, increasing the grind
  13. 7 points
Like seriously. I just want to have a few fun matches, but the extremely low level of the playerbase just wont let me. Even at high PS theres people with nonsensical weapon combos. People that wont cap bases. People that drive into 5 enemies alone and die. People that dont pay attention to the map and totally ignore the huge enemy flank coming that my Radar Detector is showing them. We have tons of unbalanced weapons and parts in the game, but the playerbases lack of skill and situational awareness is what really makes me just put the game down and go play something else when I get too angry.
  14. 7 points
How many times??? If you aren't a close combat build stop ramming the close combat units out of the way because you're a thirsty little xxxxx! Know your role when you enter the game and we will all do well together. And yeah I know i'm wasting my breath (or fingers?) talking (typing) here because there's like 10 people here and they actually know how to play, but I can't physically punch these people in the face so I decided to vent here, hope that's ok with you all.

Drones shouldn't be considered the main and only weapons of the player.

Mechanically driven vehicles have a logarithmic acceleration curve because they have transmissions and high gear ratios mean you sacrifice torque for speed. The higher the gearing, the less torque the drivetrain supplies. That is why Electric cars have such crazy acceleration. Hovers should not have a mechanical log acceleration curve; they should remain distinct from the other movement parts. Their main problem is that they are not even scifi, they are just a technophile's outlandish made up fantasy. Their function does not even line up with how they work visually as proven by their ability to automatically flip themselves over in the opposite direction of their nozzles. Everything about the game's movement system is fubar. The tonnage system, the mass limit system, engine power, engine speed, part speed caps, power drain. Its all bogus and arbitrary. Suspension doesn't work properly on anything but hovers. Movement parts don't apply traction either when they are on top of a vehicle that is not standing still either, which is why you magically lose all your traction when you are t-boned or wedged. You can drive right off a wedge though when that wedge isn't moving. If the devs overhauled the entire movement system and physics, a majority of issues with hovers, wedges and handling with ground movement parts on bad terrain would go away. When I said a Harpy Accelerates legs faster than a Humpback, I wasn't joking or being ridiculous. Even though legs are capped at 40 km/h which is slower than both Cabs, the Harpy accelerates a bare 4 leg chassis twice as fast as a Humpback will to that 40km/h speed limit despite having 40% as much power. The movement mechanics are outdated **** and they need to be fixed. Traction, it doesn't work at all when you are on top of another moving vehicle. This is why you are magically unable to drive off of a wedge until it stops moving. I know this for a fact because I did a tank turret fusion where I turned my vehicle on top of my buddy's build like a turret using a small track. If he was moving at all, I could not turn my vehicle/turret. Suspension. Well actually we don't have any. Only hovers do. Your vehicle touches the ground and drives through an invisible contact patch that always runs flat to the terrain, and that contact patch is the only suspension it has. Individual wheels won't make a difference in offroad handling because they do not actually carry or drive the weight of your vehicle, they are just mapped to match the terrain while being animated. Hovers get away with this because they do not have a contact patch that is mapped to the terrain. They can turn midair while skinnered on a cliff. They have 2 meters of space between them and the ground, and they have unlimited vertical suspension travel. Then hovers have the most xxxx movement mechanics in the game. You can reliably flip a hover in only one way: Fire the cannons on a hover while reversing off a cliff so the recoil puts you on your roof. Watch the hovers that are visually pushing you into the ground summon Skula to automatically flip the hover as intended. They also don't have an acceleration slope that mimics their visual movement. Hovers change direction by tilting their engines to vector thrust, yet they have the same acceleration no matter how angled or plumb the hovers are. Lets see a wheel build drive faster the slower its wheels are turning, or steer more the less turned the wheels are. All in all hovers are quite literally the dev's pet movement part, they have every strength and they are not limited by any **** poor mechanics and physics that afflict other movement parts. They aren't properly represented visually compared to how they move. Their coded function is a completely ideal fantasy compared with the mechanics of everything else. And that is a fact regardless of what their in game stats are.

Vehicles need mass not as a balancing tool but actual mass in physics engine. That would also prevent slam dunks and being wedged.

Have allready made an suggestion in the suggestion section for Cyclone buff: Give Cyclone a front shield like on Bastion Cabin with +30% resistance to alle damage. And a bit faster starting fire speed. This gives Cyclone a fair and good buff. If you attack Cyclone from back or so, it takes the regular damage. The front shield gives only damage reduction at the front (thats why the Cyclone have a shield).

Honestly devs need to choose, why do we allow our downright spastic playerbase to pick anything
  20. 6 points
Yeah... It is truly impressive how a decent player here would be labeled as a pretty bad player in almost any other competitive game, the level is extremely low in general, not to mention, normally the first on the team to die, is the first to write "idiot useless team" or something similar on the chat.
  21. 6 points
Yes, lets play with the thought, talk about that module, and how it would effect the game if it was removed? In my opinion it would make game more cool, and better, even bit more realistic. In lower ps pvp's , that i like to play, i see tons of wedges without cloak, still making good havoc but atleast you see em, just like you see those guys with explosive spears, and in my eyes its wayyy more brave and "manly" to Not be invisible, regardless of build. And im more interested in the overall positive effect of taking the module away than hearing defences of module which to me atleast is ...cowardly if compared to definition of bravery. But lets hear your thoughts, of how the game would change to You and others if cloaks were pulled off . Just a mind game, chill out before ranting .
  22. 6 points
I disagree. Hovers are fairly balanced now.
  23. 6 points
Nah, it feels good to shoot a droner with two typhoons, and deal 200 damage each time Works as intended
  24. 6 points
Trying to get new people into the game...but levelling up takes entorely too long for many players. Not having access to simple parts takes away from the experience. It is frustrating enough to not have more weapon options but then you cant even copy decent builds because you lack the majority of the parts. Summary: The grind for coins is semi-reasonable; the grind for armor is not reasonable

So we have 2 main legendary sniper weapons: The Tsunami The Assembler Let's compare the two - Green is good, red is bad. The Tsunami has limited ammo The Assembler has unlimited ammo The Tsunami weighs 1850 The Assembler weighs 360 The Tsunami is HUGE The Assembler is about 1/3 of the size The Tsunami has an arc The Assembler has no arc The Tsunami has a fast projectile speed The Assembler has a VERY fast projectile speed Two Tsunamis require 1 direct hit on an Assembler to destroy it (however it does take longer to charge up the shot to do enough damage don't forget!) Two Assemblers require 2 direct hits on the Tsunami to destroy it The Tsunami takes 12 seconds to fully charge and you must be still to charge it up The Assembler takes 2 seconds to fully charge and can charge on the move The Tsunami has mediocre splash damage. The Assembler has no splash damage (don't forget it can refire every 2 seconds and just spam shots to do the same if not more "splash" damage) The Tsunami has 746HP (don't forget, it weighs a lot more and is HUGE so it's easier to hit) The Assembler has 400HP The Tsunami has roughly a 6 second reload with a Colossus & reload perk The Assembler has no reload, only a 2 second charge up time. The Tsunami has huge recoil. The Assembler has no recoil. The Tsunami requires explosive ammo boxes. The Assembler requires no ammo boxes. The Tsunami has a fixed firing angle. The Assembler has a 360 firing angle. The Tsunami doesn't synergise with the Medium Quantum cabin The Assembler does synergise with the Medium Quantum cabin (+20% damage) The Tsunami does synergise with the Light Harpy cabin (lol 3900 mass for your guns.. and don't forget the mass for extra ammo boxes!) The Assembler doesn't synergise with the Light Harpy cabin The Tsunami gets 1 shot every 6 seconds to decloak The Assembler can go rapid fire spam to decloak The Tsunami can instantly fire. The Assembler has a 2 second charge up time. Please, can someone explain the balancing here?

New Mechanic arm looks nice (now i can build a T-rex ) Could you guys bring us some "squre shaped headlights" in a near future and truck "light bars" (Scavengers curve pipes are too thick)? Old school light bars <3 New bumpers maybe? ...

The call cabin really needs a rework, in it's current state it just makes drones more of a crutch than they already are, it makes anything that's not a machinegun or shotgun helpless vs drones because due to the cab's perk they can't reliably shoot the droner because it has a free durability boost and a massive speed boost Devs say they want drones to be a support weapon yet they release a cabin that clearly benefits from going full drone Change the perk to: If drones are deployed, damage of non drone weapons is increased by 20% This way there is a clear benefit from using drones as a support weapon and not going full drone Do this and add a line of sight requirement, then annihilators will be far more balanced

just a suggestion for a new set of wheels ((found this)) carrying capacity: Average (maybe slightly above) weight: heaviest of the mediums size: medium health: similar to the APC wheels rarity: Rare special quality: allows for strafing drawbacks: would have a significant impact on speed, less than average grip

So it is mortar that catapults (maybe throughout rail like Fat man?) whole gas tank. It sounds fun and i anticipate specific sound effect of big explosive whistling through the air. (This will give thrill to victims before they get small present.) Maybe relic mortar will throw whole gas truck but i wanna be satisfied with gas tank now.

How many games of a similar format have you played in recent time to say that the playerbase of XO is so bad, especially compared to other games? These "bad players" are players too and they have their place in the game as much as you do. Bad players also buy packs to keep the game alive and without them the game would have been dead a long time ago. The game is free so the entry requirement is pretty low which means that a lot of kids will get to try it out when they're still getting the hang of games in general, you weren't born the progamers you see yourselves to be either. XO also has a lot of mature audience which means a lot of players will either start new accounts for their kids or younger siblings or even let them play at their own accounts which might be one of the main reasons you may see sub-optimal builds at high PS. Some players also derive their fun from either playing what they see as fun or from challenging themselves or just genuinely enjoy building good looking rides and bringing them to battle instead of being minmaxing tryhards. If you want to be a tryharding meta-chaser, go play clan wars, there will be plenty of "good players" there.

Voting system needs a hard rework, should be displayed in a list form like the faction blueprints, and when clicked bring up a large view. Players should be limited on votes But youll never counter the bedlam rat society in their groups voting on one guys build imo. I lied. Remove the player name from the build. Maybe that would help

I was so excited when i saw the mech arm but then the answer came that it is only a stupid decor. It could have been at least a small arm that grabs scrap from the ground during the battles to increase the reward. It could also work similar to skinner. Also a repair tool would have been plausible. As a weapon the claw is hard for me to imagine how it could work in crossout. The arm would have to reach the enemy, aim for a part and close the clawes. It would deal x amount of damage and when the part has less hp it gets destroyed. But what about a part with more hp like a plow? The claw would have to clip through the part or scretch over its surface. Would it be like a damage over time for 2-3 seconds? Or would it charge while in contact and deals damage at the end. Could the enemy drive away during that time? A cool idea would be something like a buzzsaw/chainsaw or a drill, similar to mechanic how melee weapon already work, on a movable arm. It would deal damage while in contact and you could reach parts in different spots, even the weapons. On man they could have done so many cool things but it is only a decor I'm so sad

It would be interesting to have a weapon 2-4 mechanical hands with interchangeable parts on end ... could you pick up the enemy into the air, hold him or crush him. For example, a machine gun in one hand and a flamethrower or rocket launcher in the other or some crushing pliers. This will be very entertaining. Developers do something like that !!!

If this hurricane buff goes through, Crater map needs taller cover. As it is, there is about only one vehicle structure that is sufficient cover against verticle missiles. Next to anything else, missiles will just go over and hit anyway. On other maps they should be fine, but stronger hurricanes will be a problem on Crater.

Yes. The agreement is between the buyer and seller at the time of the purchase. If they change the car by slowing the car down they should issue a full refund and give the customer a choice if they would like to buy the car again or buy something else that's faster. 95% is not 100%. If you bought 100% you should have what you bought.

And it is not really difficult, Legs and chameleon where always a bit off,.. but still did not mess up all balance. neutrino,... showing all enemies even those out of sight/too far away. and on top of that.... showing all modules....... sorry. a plain night vision would have been fine. more fair. WW2 Germany had it already in action. energy weapons.... lasers, plasma bull..... well why through my knife into a tree. MG's need coolers and or radiators...... and do have recoil and loss of aim.... Why not take a energy easy one-tap...... even the one thing that did need some level of skill was the trigger shooting.... that's gone now. and than the worst thing,... hovers. every single weapon outperforms the same weapon when its not on a unflappable air-master. Sorry but if you like to defend the game, fine. I'm not the enemy here. I didnot make 3 minutes battles into 5 so you could not grind up faster anymore. I didnot force players into boring raids, for they are boring if you don't like them. but if you want to grind faster... raids are part of the deal I didnot make rewards smaller and smaller.... so grind was almost forcing you to buy coins at some point. I didnot buff weapons till I sold enough pack's to nerf them into oblivion. I didnot neglect to be open to the community to help a healthy interaction. I didnot sell packs by the dozen....when in CW only a few Meta's rule... I didnot make the huge mistake that lead to the enormous player-base bleed. The bleed that made economics difficult so 5 minutes were needed and forcing raids, like nerfing income etc. I didnot mess-up balance... into a NEVER to be able to balance game. Come on, don't you see everything these devs do is like politics. Bla Bla bla,... but game must be for what they want it to be. All these changes are for the theater.... all show.... if something threatens their hovers.... they nerf it. Sorry to see there are still so much players who don't have a clue and just can't see the bigger picture. I let loose of grind a long time ago, I let loose of raids and tasks I just don't like I even let loose of playing the builds that I design....... I know the scenery will never be without spoiling items anymore.... well, I deal with it my way. But don't defend something that's actually spoiling your fun, even when you don't realize it because you can't see the bigger picture, I buy packs. yes. I buy coins,... yes. I work for my money. I like my work.... so a win - win. No boring grind. just design and build. and maybe,.... just maybe at some point the devs will realize splitting the game would be a great idea. keep in mind I do make lots of MVP's and Rhino's... on wheels and tracks that and never lousy wedges .... so never the easy way out. sorry it turned out to be too long a text. ZWC

I'm wondering... Are you half decent at least with one weapon? You seem to be totally unable to do anything right unless you are using either hovers or one of the most powerful weapons in the game
  49. 5 points
Also I have to laugh at this. Incinerator fire puddles already heat up an enemy car almost instantly. So now it'll happen 30% faster than instant heat up? Why not do something actually useful that the weapon needs like reducing its reload time, giving it larger fire pools, or even reducing its energy by 1? Almost this entire list of proposed changes is just trash.
