New Raid using SteppenWolfs & Heist Map. "Reinforce"

Recommended Posts

"A squad sent to deal with a Raider hideout just made an emergency call for Reinforcements. Your the only ones who can reach them in time. Go back them up and finish the job. Make sure one of them makes it back here, I want a full report."

Objectives:

- Find the missing SteppenWolfs and keep at least one alive.

- Kill the Raider's Leader

Maps: Lost Coast & Terminal 45

Time: 5 minutes

So if the In-game description didn't spell it out this a rescue mission. We don't have any Steppenwolfs in Raids, and to my knowledge no intent to do so soon. So why don't we make them the good guys? Let's help them out and be battle buddies.

Flow of the mode:

You spawn in and two Steppenwolfs (imma use my Goliath as example)599bd3d7c3a7b_StpnWolfGoliath.thumb.PNG.

Are locked in a life and death struggle vs whatever faction your fighting. you have to rush to their aid and kill their attackers, I'm thinking 2 or 3 epic enemies and mini bots spawn in at various parts/times of map as player harassment. Once the Goliath is safe it will continue the mission and advance towards the Raider Boss bumping into the other two Goliaths along the way (regrouping) that spawn once the two or one at start are safe.

Once you rescue as many Goliaths as you can the "Boss is approaching" will pop up and at the star on the map the faction boss will appear and it's up to you and the Goliaths to kill the boss before all the Goliaths are killed, or time runs out.

I think it would be cool to have SteppenWolfs break the norm and be allies in raids. and not too mention the goal is to protect them and ML-200 Walker legs are the slowest legs around. If they arnt getting a buff and were getting hoverboards instead lets make a use for em in the Raid as our Spider Buddies in Arms?

Here's where I figure good spawns would be for the maps. In terminal I think players should spawn at the endpoint of a normal heist because I cant imagine walkers taking that last ramp easy on AI, better to make them lurch over to our original spawn for the big showdown.

Trying to think of ways to use maps we have here already that are underused. Comments, Thoughts?

Interesting idea. These "Search and Rescue" raid types are like a combination of Escort and Heist. However, they don't necessarily have to use spider tanks as friendly A.I. vehicles to keep alive.

Also, I previously suggested including more bosses (the kinds found at the end of Defense raids) in more raids, including the ends of Cargo Race, Siege, Escort, and Heist raids, as a final obstacle that would require players to give it their all.

I was thinking maybe this could be a new type of Leviathan mode too where it ends with a Leviathan fight, kinda like the raiders realize they are in trouble and are releasing their war machine to deal with the intruders. Didn't want to start with that in the opening pitch, but if you extend the time to maybe 10 min it's doable. Maybe knock off a minute for each Steppenwolf lost.

If you do really well rescuing them it could end with a 8 vs 1 levi + minions which could be intense!

By the way, what would the differences between each difficulty level be? I had previously assumed that the bosses would not necessarily be leviathans, since I figured that this game mode idea must've been made with difficulty levels in mind (and since the bosses at the end of Defense raids do scale with difficulty), right?

Great question. When you play "defend" at the last pumpjack defense wave you see "boss is approaching" and you'll see some named AI like "Fowler" or "beater" I figure these would be good bosses. Combine that with the rescue/defense of the steppenwolfs its kinda like a hybrid between Defend & Heist.

The thing with heist is, one well prepared player can pretty much beat it if they survive the run back. Also with siege these "bosses" are easy because they want to kill pumpjack not players. If we have the AI aggressive towards everything that moves, these bosses are gonna be alot stronger I think, especially the cannon ones that typically sit far away and snipe pumps. And since defense is already hard as a squirrels nuts in wintertime to most players not running teams, i figure the Ally AI is gonna have to scale up as well with difficulty to keep it fair and fun.

If the allys are too strong then easy and medium will be a joke, if the allys are too weak it will be impossible. So looking at the Steppenwolfs current faction rigs I would not advise using them. Maybe the first 4 that the Steppenwolfs have unlockable already in easy and medium mode would be good. However Mandrake on AI will either be unstoppable or unbearable for the last two blueprints Steppenwolfs offer. I wouldn't mind making rigs for hard mode. In fact my "Steppenwolf Sentry," Is doing awesome at 2nd place this week with most likes and download in the 200's, and my Goliath i mentioned hit 425 downloads and 309 likes. I think I got a knack for this faction lol.
