SIGMA920

New Raid Type: Recon

Recommended Posts

The current raids are fairly simple and are winnable with a clear objective. A recon raid would be a team of four players entering a map filled with bots of varying PS and armaments depending on the faction you are fighting against. Your goal is to escort an unarmed bot throughout the map (Fighting against a growing number of waves and bots pouring out to attack you.) until all areas are "mapped", small bundles of loot (Using the cargo  from cargo races and there are a finite amount of theses, say 30 of them through out the entire map.) could be scattered around to give an extra reward to the players who grab them. However, there is no end to the raid until 30 seconds after everyone taking part dies and the bot dies or transmits the mapping info. After the bot finishes the mapping, it'll transmit and become a stationary target you no longer need to defend and enemies will pour out in greater numbers than previously until everyone is dead and 30 seconds passes from the last person's death.

As a raid, this would not be a traditionally winnable raid since you're essentially fighting against an infinite number of enemies as soon the bot is useless. You can not lose except for the fuel you spent to get into the raid or if you never captured any loot lying around in the map. You will die however and you're goal is to survive and kill as many of the bots as you can until then. The rewards as such would be worth the effort players put in.

This kind of raid would be a good testing ground for player builds and for introducing new maps into the game as well as providing a raid that will encourage teamwork and be more profitable for a larger risk. The hard raid of this type could start with Mammoth using bots but a single supply crate could have 150 scrap in it. The medium version would have easier enemies but less rewards and the easy raid would have the downgrades. This could also counter the best build types in the game as a 5 sidekick truck wouldn't be able to handle large numbers of bots well while a scout car would have to be especially fast to survive. All builds would be weak to this raid because you cannot safely be confident on what bots will spawn in as your enemies. What is even better is if these raids prove to easy, a leviathan could be a possible bot to spawn in using the same system as in invasion.

Interesting idea. Approved and submitted to the devs.

SIGMA920, hello!

Thanks for sharing this suggestion with us. At the moment, we feel that adding this mode into the game now will be unnecessary. But your description has been saved in our "Ideas Box" - it means that eventually it might be considered and discussed again;)
