Dead players commandeering bots

I saw this thread in discussion, same idea...

problems detected:

This will incentive lancers suicidal players. Ergo lancers players shouldn't be allow to command bots

Points commanding the bot should be zero. To avoid suicidals with bad gear killing themselves to get a dual tsunami spider bot.

Other than that :good:

+2, me and my friend who doesn't use the forums (pistaciofiend ingame) think it's a good idea. I played a lot of CSGO and being able to control the bots doesn't just help you, it helps the whole team 95% of the time. Hell even if I get zero points from kills and such while using the bot, I'd be happy.

I think zhetesh is right about how it should be implemented too.

edit. Though, might wanna remove the suicide option from player controlled bots to stop other players from just blowing up bots to end a game "they lost", make it so you only get 1 bot also (or, possibly more if it's like, 2+6bots vs 2+6 bots which is unfortunately not that rare at low ps (pc)

@Comrade_Tiki I salute this change!

I also posted a similar request, albeit at a later date than you, cause I didnt find your suggestion at that time.

I think this is a great idea and I would love to see this in PVP

Just remove bots in the first place. They don't help with the fun anyway - they're filler. I can't think of ONE SINGLE MATCH when I felt like the bots made the game fun...

Maybe make a part for it?

Something like an cabin with an ejector seat that when your car is destroyed you shoot out your vehicle and fly out like a tow missile they you use to target a bot and control it. If you miss the bot you splatter on the ground. Kinda thinking like titanfall, I want to goose some people in the air trying to be heroes hahaha :5_100_100:

No thanks. As a lancer I love to drive fast and would hate to be stuck in a slow bot build with cannons.

It's not a requirement.  The dead spectator must perform an action in order to commandeer a bot.

I don't like this idea, and here's why:  In a word, damage.  If I could spawn in a new bot, okay, well what does it have?  A Humpback, an Avenger, and a Chord on a Gun Mount?  No thanks.

If I go into the 8v8 PvP grind Mode (Get the Scrap!  Wires, Batteries, Uranium, Talers!)  I'm basically looking for resources to Craft.  That's what I got into Crossout for in the first place.  I tried War thunder, but you know what?  They didn't have what i wanted to drive.  (An M-6 GMC)

In Crossout, you get to Craft, Ride, and Destroy.  You get to drive what you built, not what the Zavod imeni Stalina designed in 1943.  However, when you die, you get to Spectate, and see what other Players are crafting (At that power score.)

Or, you can take over what's left of Emily's ride, which is reduced to a cab, a frame, and 1 wheel, turning in circles...  That's the real problem here:  How much damage does any surviving Bots (You know the ones that tend to rush in, and die first?) take before I die?

How much does Emily have left, when I get to take over?  I'd kinda rather just hit spacebar, and switch which Survivors I spectate as.

In this case:  You have the option to remain in spectate, by not assuming control of a bot.

But for your teammates, they may choose to use a surviving bot more effectively than its AI is granting. Or they will realize inevitable defeat, and make the crippled bot self-destruct instead of wiggle in a circle for 150 seconds as the enemy decides to capture instead of search&destroy the bot.

Okay, but the very real concern is the assumptions that there are any survivng bots, that anyone would want to play.  Even assume that you take the derpbot that's been holding your base from the beginning, and it's fresh as a daisy.  You're still talking about a randomly generated Bot Build.

Have you ever looked at Serge, and thought:  "Wow, what a really nice build, I'm going to copy it to play, instead of the PoS I'm driving now, because it looks so nice."  ?  Do you get any requests for the Bot builds to be uploaded to Exhibition, so that we the players get to play them?

Your reward for rushing in, and dying like a dumb bot is to get to drive a build, thrown together by a dumb bot.  That's great for players that want to role-play as an Artificial Idiot.

Oh yeah, and it's nice to see a Forum Moderator here.  Thank you, sincerely for replying.

So, can I find a way to play opposite my buddy, commit suicide, then commandeer a bot  then suicide, wash, rinse, repeat? Then we could take turns and troll for resources like a pimp.
I'm a little surprised this thread is still alive.

Continued play, with any craft, is usually preferable to being stuck watching the AI get itself destroyed by bad decisions.

The exhibition does contain several recreations of bot builds, though usually played for laughs as a form of camouflage to make the enemy underestimate you.

Self-destructing disqualifies a player from being given the option of commandeering. "Fixing" matches by joining opposing teams not only demands luck from the matchmaker (making it scarcely repeatable), it is bannable behavior. And taking turns doing that on purpose would not provide any additional resources than simply fighting honestly with a 50% win rate.

You'd need a player name like "Daniel" to pull it off though.  If I see a 'bot build with Todeskamph48 over it in red, the Jig is going to be up real quick.

Yeah, I'm a cherry tapper, and I have to admit that at the very start.  I Assembled a Blueprint from the Engineer's Faction (Just looked it up, it's called "Workhorse.") when they first make you craft a Docker.  (Worst cab in the whole game.)  Played a few rounds in that for teh lulz.

I personally would skip on this option, and continue to spectate, but i guess I'm weird.  No reason why other players shouldn't have it, as long as it can't be abused.

That would be a great addition to the game watching bots beat themselves against walls, refuse to shoot ,and leave cap as it is almost complete would be great.Yes I spend a good amount of time as a spectator.

You can't be serious . It's not fair. It's having a huge advantage over the other player. Just think good about it. Just because it's painful for you to watch the rest of the match without actively participating in it doesn't mean it should be changed. Matches are very quick and I personally find them very dynamic and fun even with half of the team being bots. The solution is to befriend as many people as possible to assure total presence and of course get gud !

I rarely get surrounded, and killed, but it does happen.  (Don;t over-extend.)  I see it as a chance to check out what the rest of my side has.  It's kinda nice that they show at least the last 2 things they equipped up on the screen.

An Elephant, and a Remedy, what was he thinking?

...

Oh!
