Goliath frame mounting

Recommended Posts

Error report
Describe problem and what you saw By placing things strangely, Frames can support Goliath tracks through their external weldpoints (at higher height).
What you expected to see Expected frames to only support Goliaths at their designated frame-mounting points.
Conditions in which error reproduce Place frame. Install cabin. Raise vehicle. Place Goliath on ground (lower than vehicle). Place a second Goliath on ground, with its "outside" pointed toward the "outside" of existing Goliath. Extend frames to the "outside" of Goliaths, as to touch their highest welding points. Relocate cabin between the Goliaths.
Problem details

Resulting vehicles can be taken into battle.

Frequency of reproduction always
Time of bug

While not very exploitative (because it raises the cabin to be more vulnerable), it does seem unintended (due to difficulty of construction), with slight potential for abuse.

After more testing, this seems easier than expected:

  1. Place Goliaths on ground
  2. When placing frame, press "C" to elevate vehicle (Goliaths stay on ground, Frame snaps to appropriate height)

Is this a feature, and not a bug?

Guess it's related to the "frame bug", another feature not mentioned in patch notes.

If you look closely you can see the Goliath has turned inside out. The part of Goliath which is suppose to touch frame is visible from the outside.

So if this is possible then the bug is cosmetic.

Except you can't mount frames to the outside of goliaths. Means the goliaths are actually mounted to structure parts. That's why i said it's probably related to the frame bug.

Incorrect; there are frames immediately below the cabin. The frames must touch the Goliath's weldpoints for this to work.

Agreed. The Goliath's attachment points for frames in this configuration do not have the circle which is normally used to indicate that frames can connect.

With the cosmetic bug hiding the possibility of this build style, no player would discover this arrangement without actively experimenting for bugs or exploits.

If it was intended it would be Obvious & Easy to do,

it is neither - it requires knowledge & deliberate action, intentional building of temporary structure to get parts to connect together, "forcing" part snapping, etc

Has the "frame stacking" bug (that seems to allow this) been reported because I've not seen it (link please)
