In a few hours the new “Precious driver” brawl starts in Crossout. In this mode, practically everything depends on your ability to cooperate and act in unison. Destroy the enemy’s precious driver, protect your own at all costs, and try to make sure that the chosen player is the one who deals the final blow to your opponents. This is the perfect recipe for victory, all that’s left is to use it.
Attention! The mode will be available from February 26 to March 4 inclusive!
“Precious driver” is a team battle. The goal is to score 7 points before the opposing team.
One player from each team is randomly selected at the beginning of the battle. They will earn more points for their team for destroying enemies. The opposing team will also earn more points for destroying that player.
Players use their own armoured cars in battles of the mode.
The mode has no respawns.
The reward for battles of the mode is plastic.
Rewards for the special challenges:
New sticker: “Strength in unity!”;
Paint: “Pattern: Pine”;
Containers: “Military reserve” (2 pcs.) and “Duck treasure”;
I like the idea behind a game mode that revolves around more teamwork between people. Sadly in practice it does not work and instead of anyone really paying any mind to who is the VIP and who is not, people just take the most meta steamroller available (triton brick as a good example), hope they rolled the VIP and them steamroll the win in under a minute. If they did not get the VIP, still steamroll the enemy anyway. Out of the multiple matches I tried this, I saw not a single ounce of teamwork in any match and any kind of gameplay outside bring meta, hope you get VIP, whatever is the case destroy the enemy VIP right away, ignore your own VIP all together.
Special shoutout the that one match that was absolute bottom of the barrel teamwork where I had the VIP. Highlights in this singular match include such fun times as:
-being backed up and pinned to a wall twice, costing me a module and a gun
-shots missing thanks to teammates driving forward while aiming backwards and ramming right into me just as I was shooting
-having 2 of my easy 2-point kills stolen while my guns reload twice in a row by random teammates just rushing in from nowhere while I wait for my guns to reload as the enemy is just a flaming nugget with no guns, turning easy 4 points into 2 points
-being pushed off a ledge, rolling onto my back next to 3 teammates 2 enemies (one of which was immobilized to the point of just being able to spin around in place with only 1 movement part), and then getting killed by generator popping as the immobilized enemy tickled it off with a singular machinegun while three of my fairly healthy “teammates” were busy trying to chase the 1 mobile player and completely ignoring flipping me around while passing by me multiple times
Honestly that’s the Precious Driver experience in a nutshell. Bring meta, rush enemy and kill. Does not matter who has VIP or not, just cheese it at fast as you can. Do not concern yourself with any form of teamwork.
Just as most any modes, especially with lower numbers/trying to rely on teamwork, it seems to fall into suffering from the same problems that I hear people complain about in UW
Metabuilds only, everyone running the same exact build for easy wins, regular guns can’t compete with the top tier guns even if the same rarity tier. But at least you run into a bit more variety in this one, it hasn’t fully devolved into a sweat-fest but for the most part I’d say this mode is even more devoid of teamwork between random players than regular pvp battles.
Also suffers from all the same negative things 6v6 pvp suffered from
Every match I have been in, is a team of disorganized and clueless people in random builds vs highly organized and efficient kill teams in meta builds. Occasionally I get lucky and get to be one of the extras tacked onto the kill team rather than being the cannon fodder team. It’s not a good option really, I know, but it does make me wish they disallowed queuing as a squad for Brawls, so everyone is on more or less on equal footing of just getting the team MM gives you.
It being 6v6 is a modifier on the experience that just makes it that much worse.
I was King Precious twice so far. My subjects were everywhere except where I was. As in the CC and BFU, if you don’t have higher-powered weaponry and beefy rides, you’re doomed from the start. This coulda been a great brawl for all levels of players if they lowered the ps to maybe 4-7k AND limited the ps on the weaponry (to flatten the sealclubbers); newer or poor players really have no chance, in my opinion. Another new-player-friendly opportunity lost.
