Question was, Do yous think it was a good idea to make ingame general chat moderators, using players with established friendships, thereby creating the potential for bias decisions?

So basically, the larger your friends list the better? Regardless of wether or not the reports are justified or not?
Thats a problem. Little groups of friends and their friends and their friends all spamming fake reports.
What happens when one of those groups of friends contains a ingame general chat moderator or 2 or 3 or 4?

alot of people are just going to befriend mods to take their side so they can power trip. “oh i got a mod friend so you are fucked when i report you for some arbitrary reason!”.
they should put moderators in the game who wont stand by that crap. this is a videogame where the devs try to make a living off it, not some reddit thread where one wrong thing can lead to a lifetime ban and children throwing around the “i have a friend who works as a mod and he can ban you” place.
i personally think the current chat mods there should be axed off and new moderators be brought in. ones who wont be toxic, say or encourage racist stuff and ones who can be relied on. currently the mods on there cant be trusted and show they are irresponsible and immature. we need better mods in the game.
The ingame general chat moderators, yes, i agree.
I suggest that, moderators be renewed every year, using new players, new players who will be willing to forego any personal ingame connections, for that year.
I also suggest that, verbal warnings are non evident ingame, and unnecessary. If you get a warning ingame, it is because the ingame mod likes you. Ingame general chat moderators should only advance mutes in general chat, but not be part of the general conversation in general chat.

i dont think it is necessary to get new ones every year. i think they should get new ones in general. if they perform well they can stay but if they are taking sides or are making racist comments or anything like that then they are to be gotten rid of immediately.
devs have access to the chat logs in game and can see if someones doing their job as a mod or not. i think new mods are a must and must follow the rules of a mod. if not then they will have their status removed.
i know what its like to be a moderator, ive never been one myself but i know what they must do. i am hoping they get new mods in the chat though.
It is necessary, to avoid any potential for any bias, because friendships would be mad, but Not if they couldnt be made, for one year. Peer pressure just wouldnt exist in the realm of an ingame general chat moderator

the proper way is to simply review what the moderators did, using an actual paid employee to overwatch it. of course this would only be feasible if like, the product had paying users or something where it might be unacceptable that random unqualified community members have full power to ban anyone (again, not like this game has paying users so it doesnt apply).

devs hire girly men that get offended over everything, i used to get chat blocked all the time and most of the GM’s on xbox dont even have anywhere near 12,000 hours in game like i do

their only GM’s cuz their popular on the internet, if ur not popular ur gonna get the middle finger from the devs or who ever nd they dont care how many hours u have in game
And that, leads to bias.
But its not being popular that gets ingame mods selected. Im popular. Its freinds, more potently, friends that like you, and their friends and their friends and so on and so on.
