I feel like we’re playing completely different games, and maybe that’s just the difference between PC and console.
But maybe it’s just mindset too. I’m happy if I’m doing well enough in CC to get to 5000 points over my two days off work. I suspect you need to rank much higher to feel happy.
From the matches I see, the majority of CC players are not playing the top metas, and are having enough fun to keep doing it.
As far as grinding speed, the markets are different, but I seem to be able to grind out at least 1000 coins a week without trying too hard. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to think that someone would need to play for about a year before they know the game enough to enjoy CC. So they should definitely be able to have a decent build by then.
You need to dominate to have a good time. Most people don’t.
Edit: I just noticed your calculations are only about badges. Factor in the resources we get from matches and the math is very different.
lol, basically I was just experimenting with that. It works well as a way to deter flying idiots, which I can’t really fight with the cannons. 2 executioners and 1 pyre.
Idk what game you are playing, but every round I have been in has had 1-3 competitive sweats that have spent a ton of money, and the rest are chill players. While the completive guys are annoying, they generally just tear eachother apart before I have to worry about them. It could be a that you are at a different ps or server, but overall I can hold my own rather well even though I don’t run the current meta.
I also have plenty of fun builds, although they generally are lower ps. If you try combining a growl with a bunch of rocket engines and spikes, you can make a rather effective yet extremely entertaining build. Try throwing in a chameleon with that. That is how you can “enjoy the game”. Creativity.
I think this is a difference of mindset though.

You’re telling that to a guy who tried more than half of currently available weapons in CC.

I’ve even tried unorthodox strategies. Like, using the worst weapon in the game in public CC matchmaking, if you’re interested. (it’s really funny to me that i somehow averaged more than many people i see on actual usable weapons)

I’ve been using things like down facing melee weapons on a hover with a reverse wedge, or upwards facing tempuras a while ago. Or a single KD boosted fatman, different variations of tusk-like builds with no tusk or wheeled underbelly wasps.
Spoiler
The problem is. Said “creativity” wouldn’t work if you’re steamrolled by being matched against meta, and you WILL be matched against meta. You can see that all of these examples were mostly pre-2024. Nowadays because there’s so many imbalanced cancer weapons that even Lil’ Sheepie can reliably take you down (avalanche, jupiter, triton, pre-nerf corax, nests, dooms, pre-nerf raijin, the list goes on…), you just can’t “have fun”.
My train of thought is:
“Having fun” involves “playing the game”. In this instance, “playing the game” means “dealing damage and kills”, or simply put, “being at least somewhat useful”. I don’t see any fun in being akin to krill where your sole reason to be is being eaten by someone bigger than you.
And i do feel like krill when i want to test some underperforming / unpopular weapon with my friend in CC, and getting matched against full group REGUM, TWIST or KN1GA with their full triton/cust. elephants/other meta cancer, while having two actually useless teammates that barely deal 600 damage.
For most people its not about domination or winning, its about having a basic non-infuriating gameplay experience, which crossout fails to provide

Honestly Dev’s tend to care but it’s difficult because you get hammered by everything that goes wrong regardless if a lot goes right. While I don’t dev on this game I’ve worked on a number of others. I defend them sometimes just because I know what it feels like to be on the receiving end of all the bug issues.
On the issue of weapon picks and stats. You can have the best weapons in the game but if players block your shots your going to score out worse. Statistically it’s almost impossible for every player on a team to score out well as points are limited from the start. Saying players are worth little just is adding insult to it. With the exception of early death most players in a match are more then likely attempting to do well. If you play long range weapons your more like to see how players crowd each other out of points. You also have the player born issue of those that will readily use you as a meat shield too. These are things devs have really limited control over too but players will still blame on the devs, it gets funny that way as players are normally too concerned just on their own situations to notice. I have some face hugger builds too but playing often enough I have noticed when I’m running that type I do lower other peoples scores. I play both styles so I see this happen often.

The only thing crossout devs care about is your wallet. Sonetimes devs get undeserved hate even though they care and make good updates, but thats not the case with crossout. They fucked this game up and fucked the players over
