Hyperborean weapons

Im worried that with the new drone cab in this faction that we are also getting a new drone too. I can only pray its a big like, 10 energy manual drone. Id use that. Id use the crap outta that.

I like both those ideas.

I remember a ways back somebody mentioned a cold based weapon, and that might mesh well with the Hyperborean theme, but Iā€™m sort of against them introducing another weapon type until they flesh out some of their currently underdeveloped catigories, which is why I think I like them going for an energy weapon.

The Crossbows might fit in well with a retro-future vibe, and it might be nice to see a new skin for one of those that helped it have more Hyperborean character, eh?

Also, the Augers are very Dieselpunk, IMO, and they need some love anyway, I think. They could put some sugar on those and that would be cool. Iā€™d like that.

In fact, Iā€™m feeling inspired by this thread to give it more contemplation in game. Iā€™m going to pick me up some Augers, and maybe some crossbows (the Varuns, maybe?), and try to stir up my inner dieselpunk. Maybe itā€™ll give me some ideas.

Iā€™ve always loved that style and thought it would play well for crossout. Iā€™m glad to see itā€™s finally coming around.

My cannon idea already exists in development, its called an electro thermal chemical gun, I just added extra steps to it to make it more scifi. Cubic boron nitride is just a little bit softer than diamond, but its extremely chemically and thermally resistant, but its very light compared to other materials we use as projectiles so it has to go fast.
I imagine it would be a tapered smoothbore because that allows for a vacuum tight seal around the projectile, and the taper means it doesnā€™t just float out of the barrel without resistance. If a barrel could handle that pressure a projectile could easily achieve huge velocities closer to that of fabled railguns without the massive electricity requirement.

Itā€™s fun to guess

Yā€™all bring up really good points. When I play drones, Iā€™m usually doing Hawks or Grenadiers which follow you around. I stopped playing the slow drone boat style a while back - opting for speed and stealth to keep me alive & my drones in the fight.

This new cab & the controls itā€™ll bring will probably make the big bulky boat mode of droning much more effective. I"m looking forward to it.

Excellent analogyā€¦ ā€œWeā€™re not goth death core, weā€™re death goth core!ā€ Uhhā€¦ okay.

Hyperborean & Diesel Punkā€¦

Whatever their interpretation of it, I gotta say they do a really good job of keeping the aesthetics of the different factions well defined. My kids seem to know which faction EVERY part belongs to, and even with me not really paying attention, I know a SteppenWolf part vs. a Founder part at a glance. Very different looksā€¦ The confidence is high, here in Rootopia.

Well, I doubt they are just going to round file the flight mechanic after overhauling the game so extensively with two major updates, and causing forum hover riots in order to introduce it. Iā€™m guessing the consensus is that after this brawl times out, then itā€™s back to standard old Crossout like it never happened? That seems odd to me, and difficult to conceive.

Iā€™m assuming the copter blades are not going to go away, and the flight feature is here to stay. I could be wrong, but it seems like a lot of man-hours to blow on a brawl. I expect them to capitalize on the effort at some point. I think that point is logically the next Battle Pass.

Of course they have demonstrated really bad decision making in the past, and if they suck at anything, itā€™s evidently marketing and economics, so I suppose itā€™s possible that in just a couple weeks the flight thing will be over, or it will be relegated to being a seasonal brawl, and not integrated into the regular game with some kind of permanent mode.

IDKā€¦I donā€™t play that mode anymore anyway, so what do I care? I liked it at first, but I can barely stand it long enough to win two matches and get the game biscuit anymore. Thatā€™s actually my overall attitude towards this game more and more. I seem to like the idea of this game more than the actual game these days, and enjoy talking about it more than actually playing it. It seems like it would be fun to play from this distance, but logging on and having fun playing it doesnā€™t really happen much.

Iā€™m pretty much the same way, even though when I do play it, I generally do very well. Iā€™m certain my win loss ratio with helicopters is far better than my win-loss ratio with anything on the ground. Iā€™ve been thinking about why I no longer enjoy it, and I think it boils down to the city maps are terrible for flying, especially the one with no visible outer borders. Youā€™re just flying around and boom youā€™re dead because you hit an invisible wall.

Major buzz kill.

Being respawned in a corner with one narrow lane back into the brawl doesnā€™t exactly help.

Yeah the lack of maps and the fact 2 of the 3 maps are bad really ruins the airborn mode.

Imagine getting to use the Adventure Mode mapā€¦ :star_struck:

i really hope the propeller goes away forever.
A bad decision would be putting that godman thing in PVP .

I tried hovers in the other day, a far cry from what i remember back in the day, much better now .
First thing i will do when i get them, is making a racing build ( i like the hover racing map much better).
Now they are very similar to wheels with no downsides( slides or whatnot) very precise, very responsive, very fast.
They donā€™t need the propeller to capitalize on the new mechanics, i think they opened up all things for all peopleā€¦ eventuallyā€¦ and for a price.

If they add heli blades to regular PvP it will completely break the game.

All of the maps are not even set up for it.

Flight is over unless itā€™s some brawl like we have now and we just did that.

they have a point.

Dead city is just a dogshit map, just like the old old town.
i donā€™t get it, they changed the old town map to be more open space, then they make another map with all they had to change in old town map.
If dead city map will stay i will avoid it
my favourite itā€™s that hilly map and East quarter map.
Sometimes itā€™s hard other times itā€™s great.

Anyway, i like the desert maps the most.

Open spaces

They probably could get away with a flight pvp mission but it would just have to be a separate player pool from normal pvp. There are of course issues with it but nothing that isnā€™t fixable in the long run.

Iā€™d still prefer it being a brawl but thatā€™s based on the random spawn points and number of other smaller issues with how itā€™s been presented to us.

Iā€™ve been trying to think of ways helicopters could stay as part of the game beyond just a brawl, but I havenā€™t come up with much.

Obviously there are some maps that are really not suited to copters, but it might not be that much work to modify them. Maybe just add a bunch of open space to the borders of the existing map?

One way they could be integrated into PVP without making ground builds obsolete would be to only allow one helicopter per team. That way theyā€™d function more as air support, rather than completely dominating the battlefield. It might mean that your queue time would be longer if youā€™re playing a helicopter, but thatā€™s also a way of keeping them in check.

On that note, I would also love a PVP mode with one Leviathan per team. Maybe they could make a PVP mission for plastic or electronics (or maybe uranium), with one helicopter and one leviathan per team, on bigger maps specific to that mode? Other games have had similar restrictions on how many players per team can be of certain types, so itā€™s not that far fetched.

I donā€™t think it is as much an issue as people are making it out to be. The highest scorer in some of my games last night was a ground player using the laser shot guns.

The maps would need some adjustments. Playing from bases means your not going to get lock-ons from the start of the match. I think if they did it they should aim for 4 heli players per team plus any available ground units that are players fill the rest with bots as much as people donā€™t like them sometimes.

Hell, they could even make regular hovers fly if they really wanted too. The actionable controls are not that different. You could balance a bit around max altitude between heli and hovers in that type of match up too.

i had the idea of a giant mining drill on the front of a build and it does pierce damage if you ram them as well as melee damage.

are you doing this cause of the idea i suggested in the new faction post? xD
if you are then props to you my man

theres many ways this can be implemented to. we could have a liquid swapping system in it. that way if you use it one canister can deal damage at high speeds while another can lower turn rates of weapons, one can drop a giant oil puddle on the ground and make traction for the person very slippery and coat the wheels for a certain duration. theres many possibilities with that. another canister can deal damage but also leave an acid puddle below the enemy. should you hit it with fire itll burn intensely. this would have 2 effects. the acid will deal no damage but heat parts quickly or if someone shoots it with a hot weapon itll burst into flames in a wide area. lots of ideas there.

yes! YEEEEES! i want to put this on a tiny car and fire it while going mach 20 in reverse! xD

Alternatively XO builds are made like crap, so maybe you could make a more effective melee weapon that does blunt damage. Maybe a broken reverse mounted cannon that does melee damage by punching with its breech block.

Your dreaming with that one it takes back plat pressure to push that through. The same is true with a lot of them while they rotate fast they need an opposing pressure applied to function or they will just jump the cut. Iā€™d love to see some mechanical movement in the game but it has to actually function right.

As a general reply just call it: tech-punk itā€™s not worth arguing about.
