That makes no sense. Turning while strafing is still active, you just use different controls than before (or go into the settings and go back to the old controls).
I am using a controller btw. I know on keyboard you can reassign but I am not having luck with controller assignments.
I am not happy with this update overall. The event sucks, the hovers suck and I never chose Crossout because of graphics…

Are you on console, or using a controller on PC?
On console, if you are using the new controls for strafing parts, what used to be steering is now strafing, while aiming is now also steering.
If you go into settings, you can see how the new controls are mapped out, and even switch back to the old controls.
Anyway, simultaneously strafing, turning, and accelerating is still possible, and arguably easier on console than it used to be (at least in terms of hand cramps from holding in the joystick buttons for strafing).

good evening!! We urgently need this server. after the update the south american is very late. Brazilians have a very high ping, before it was 100 to 200. now it is 300 pimg and the same happens with the countries of america in the south. update has spoiled our stability, although no one is falling out of the game. our ping has increased significantly. there are a lot of players giving up. please we need the old stability.
you speak the truth…the game has been officially ruined and i cannot play this mess!!! this update and revison to hovers and legs has destroyed the game!

Who the hell in gods name thought this update up? do you really want to lose half the player base in a matter of two weeks??? reverse this goddamn horrible idea or this game is done!!! you ruined the fucking game devs… my head hurts just trying to fly my hover after 5 mins…theres players with fricken wheels on there hover builds running around derpin…lol wtf man im done with this game if you guys dont restore old hover mechanics.

Everything he said is true to me, especially about mechanical legs and turbines etc, especially with the fact that he used to allow free construction of vehicles and combat techniques to gain advantage, like: build a car with mechanical legs and put a tank caterpillar to defend and go sideways, also it doesn’t allow you to have precision with hidden weapons because it doesn’t depend on you due to automation, now it’s just putting weapons on top of the cars and shooting
