I think the logic is more about the unfairness of some builds needing to worry about ammo and other not needing to.
With the new system, anyone concerned with running out of ammo can just use more ammo boxes. So while there may still be situations where one player runs out and the other doesn’t, it’s a more fair situation, because the first player could have chosen to bring more ammo or waste less ammo.
It also makes builds more equally explosive, which to me is the bigger issue they’re correcting. MG builds shouldn’t be so much harder to blow up than cannon builds, so this corrects that.
As far as some weapons having more built in ammo than others, it seems to me that they’re going to turn out to be roughly equal if you ignore the ammo count and look at how quickly they can feasibly burn through that ammo (and how much damage that ammo can inflict).
imagine it at higher powerscores though, enemies can have 5k+ hp so… i dont think guns will last to long, especially mgs that chew through ammo really fast.
again, the higher you get in powerscore the more those weapons have an issue. if you make your builds bigger your asking for trouble. builds can get up to 5k durability and possibly higher so what happens when all your ammo runs out? your just a 5k durability beat stick that cant do anything because hes out of ammo.
I think you might be overestimating how much ammo you need for a PVP match these days.
In most cases, a single fused epic ammo crate is enough. I would be very surprised if the same isn’t true for how it’s implemented for MGs, ACs, and SGs.
Dracos run through ammo quickly, but they also do a ton of damage, so that’s a way of balancing them. Nothing stopping me from augmenting my ammo with a rare pack, or a second epic pack.
i didnt find the ammo counts for machine guns but shotguns get 180 ammo and gravastar gets 280. the matches last a few minutes. there will definitely be many builds with no ammo boxes at lower ps that will work just fine, and i assume that machine guns get a similar capability. i dont see how this could be bad
I logged on played my Arb build that I have not changed in 7 years to go do Patrol like I do every day and when I ran out of bullets 2 bot kills in I quit and will never log in again…
You’re giving up the game you’ve played for 7 years because you killed 2 bots and ran out of ammo? Well ok.
Anyway, after updating over 14 builds, my gripe is that if you have a build with mixed machine guns, some start with lower initial ammo supplies than others. For instance, M-29 has 400 rounds, M-38 has 600 rounds. Hence, the M-29 runs out of ammo sooner than the M-38. So, I either turn my lightly-armored, low-ps build into a rolling bomb with ammo packs, or near the end of the battle, I waste time racing around looking for ammo piles.
It isn’t just this update this goes back for the last couple years I am tired of the changes I am done this is the last straw. Apparently all of a sudden they are unfair? I don’t even play PVP and never have.
I didn’t notice any of the updates yesterday until I decided to end the challenges with a patrol mission and ran out of ammo right away. I didn’t even know what was going on and then saw all the guns grayed out with zeros. No ammo boxes anywhere to reload so I quit the game.
Since I put together that this was due to the update, I added ammo boxes and played another patrol mission. Now, it’s all four people going after the same ammo boxes and they disappear. Screw this, this sucks. I don’t thing there should be ammo requirements in patrol on machineguns.
They don’t vanish unless you pick them up. They don’t always fill your ammo up all the way though. You also don’t have to drive 100% over them to get them there is a little bit of leeway around them. It works the same way in awakening too. They would have had to have changed the way ammo drops work for them to function the way your describing it.
