A problem with new items

so i think i brought this up before but the issue with the newer items brought into the game is that they use items from previous battlepasses in order to make them, and as you all know, all items from previous battlepasses go for an insane amount of coin. my clan leader told me i should make a few items from the current battlepass to sell later on when they get higher in price right? well that wouldnt be a bad idea except these items require items from previous battlepasses in order to make and i dont want to use some of the items i crafted from those battlepasses.
for example here

Imugi: gravastar x2, punji x2, fatum x1
Fukibari: phoenix crossbow x2, punji x2, jotun x1
Satori: Jannabi x2, Uwabaki ST x4, Titan x2
Oyabun: hot red x2, Uwabaki x4, Titan ST x2

you can see the theme with these, they dont want to many of these hitting the market, thus they go high up in price, then when the market gets to high in price they trickle these in inside mini battlepasses to just add enough to lower the cost a bit.
you can see these use a combination of a few parts, these being the titans, jotuns and fatums. all these items were in previous battlepasses and im disgusted at how they did this. this is CLEARLY scummy on the devs parts but i see so many people kissing the devs asses that it gets swept under the rug. if this keeps going im just gonna quit this game because i cant support this kind of scummyness inside a game that i like and played for years. idk why people put up with this garbage. maybe they just like tossing thousands of dollars for no return on investment into this game. whatever it is im calling them out on this here because this is just bullshit.

All those items take too long to make, plus the issues you just mentioned, and in the end they are very expensive.
I’m making specials, you can make up to ± 100 coins a piece, but they need less resource types ( you can focus your grind ), they take less time to make, in sum , quantity over quality.
I start doing this after i saw epics doesn’t pay off anymore, some prices are just too low to justify the time , resources needed it.
Some special can be somewhat stables in the range of 100/120 coins for short periods while epics can be as low as 150 / 250 coins.
I’m just waiting for the next free workbenches to start making parts.
Perhaps if you try to see if it’s for you or not…
A case can be made for rare parts, every 5 minutes you have one, less resource types…

I think one of the reasons they’ve been using previous BP items as ingredients is that in the past a lot of BP items ended up worthless on the market, since many regular players already had the fused versions from the BP.
As a result, people who had crafted them to sell on the market felt ripped off.
By using previous BP items as ingredients, they can artificially boost the value of those older parts, ensuring that people feel like they’re getting their money’s worth from those old BPs.

This does become a bit of a gamble though. Even strong BP items can go for cheap on the market, since most serious players already have the parts. And you don’t know which ones will become ingredients later on for sought after items.

There’s potential to make some good coin, but you want to be sitting on a good pile of coin/resources to take the risk. And you also need to have the patience to wait for the right moment to sell, which might not come for quite a while.
If I had more coin, I’d be buying up cheap older BP items when they go really low, and hope they become an ingredient. That’s probably more cost effective than crafting them, at least in some cases.
The minipasses seem like a good way of stockpiling ingredients, but I can’t be bothered with them. I’m content with the rate I acquire new items just by buying the main BPs and grinding.
But if I ever decide I need some relics, I’ll start buying the minipasses and do more BP crafting.

TLDR: yes they’re manipulating the market through crafting ingredients, but that’s also why it can be worth crafting BP stuff, and why the minipasses can be worth buying.

the answer to this is simple, make it so that the blueprints are craftable permanently and THEN add them to new blueprints and existing blueprints if need be. them trickling the weapons / modules / wheels / etc into the game through mini battlepasses is scummy. sure you can use them to craft a fused legendary but why? you get more value selling them then you do fusing them into something. look at right now, they are putting yet another stillwind into the game, people are most likely going to sell them off rather then trade it for something because its 1: valuable and 2: used in a relic recipe.

oh the whales know and they have resources out the ass to mass produce these items and flood the market with them on the first day. seriously how many people have you seen drop 200+ dollars on a new battlepass to have everything right away while the rest of us have to wait and work for it every week? these people are high up in clans and earn tons of uranium and buy everything they need or make everything they need so they can inflate the prices on everything on day 1. its shameful.

with the state of the game and how awful everythings been i have no resources to spare making anything in here. i wont sacrifice my other things i made just to make a legendary that ill have to wait to sell. sure i have 60k copper and 140k scrap but it means nothing when i dont have the wires, plastic, electronics and batteries to make said higher items. rare items already cost a shit load of scrap to make, 600 to 700 scrap per item, and my stash of scrap wont last long at all. its roughly 5400 - 6300 scrap just for 1 special part and you need multiple for epics and especially legendaries. i only spend my resources if i really want something.

Are you sure about that math?

You have a lot of copper and scrap, so why not sell some and turn that into the other resources you need? Or use your badges for that.

Of course in many situations it’s more cost effective to just sell your resources and buy the item on the market. Doing the math is annoying though.

I know your storage is pretty full and you also fuse a lot of stuff. What are you grinding for now?

That would make BP items even cheaper than they currently are, and make the BPs a worse value for the money. It would be great for people that want to play for free, but not great for selling BPs and mini-BPs.
Personally I’m happy just getting the items from the BPs, but obviously for some players the ability to profit from crafting access is part of why they’re buying those passes.
If you take that profit potential away, should they also reduce the price of BPs and mini-BPs? And if they do that, how do they make up that lost revenue?

The crafting system adds value to the BP. Maybe they don’t need that aspect, but maybe it does help sell more BPs. I’m guessing it does, since they’re still doing it.
I’m almost talking myself into starting to buy mini-BPs, but then I remember all the new weapons I have that I’ve barely had time to use.

1 rare costs 600 - 700 scrap to make
3 rares is 600 - 700 x 3 = 1800 - 2100
3 specials is 1800 - 2100 x 3 = 5400 - 6300
iirc some items require up to 5 items to craft sometimes 4 items. i mightve done the math wrong there, i think i was doing the math for 1 epic. still the higher you go in rarity the more it costs with rares being the most expensive.

not really. dude they have done SO MANY not permanent blueprints that at this point its just predatory what they are doing. give the damn players SOMETHING to fricken craft!!
we had that addition to the game where they released scavengers blueprints for new items, what did they keep in? just the damn battlewalker legs and thats it. didnt keep the swarms or anything in the already existing faction! common!

they sold battlepasses before that did ok from the founders and the syndicate and they gave us permanent blueprints for the syndicate and the founders.

oh sure, little timmy spends 200 dollars to access the battlepass fully instantly as soon as it comes out so he can craft the legendaries instantly and put it on the market for like 15k coins and reap the rewards of “being profitable”. if the game wasnt so all over the damn place then coins wouldnt be that difficult to earn.

whales keep getting richer while the less rich players keep getting less rich. this is how the game goes and how the devs want it to be apparently.
they are the devs of the game, surely they can experiment around and find the best way to do things. it feels incredibly limiting to have only battlepass themed items available only for a limited time then after that you cant get them anymore unless through an event or whatever they decide to do.

in what way?

if their game and choices were GOOD and they showed the players that they actually care about their game THEN they would sell more battlepasses and mini battlepasses. you cant treat your players like shit, ignore their feedback, and expect them to keep dumping money into the game. show that you care, listen to your community, and move in a good direction with your game unless you want to turn your game into a dumpster fire.

they are doing it for one reason, money. they want to get as much money out of the player as possible and are doing it in the most scummiest ways possible. they want to see what they can get away with. there are good ways to do things and there are bad ways. if this is the way they want to go then far be it from me to stop them. but the playerbase speaks for itself. games dying and they dont seem to care so :man_shrugging:

Actually a rare will cost more than that if you count the common parts, and if you are building in bulk… that must be counted as well.

You do not need the new items to play the game. Maybe you desire the new items, then pay the money. You can always just wait until the prices drop after the nerfs and get the items when the whales tire of them and need storage space for the next new items.
I agree it is scummy, but it is nothing to get worked up about, just play the game.

I thought you meant one Special, sorry!

We don’t know what their sales numbers are. Maybe those ones did fine, but maybe they didn’t.
We’re all just guessing about the decision making process.

If people who spent lots of cash didn’t get a lot for that cash, they wouldn’t be whales.
But even non-whales can benefit from this system, especially if they buy the mini-BPs. Given that I spend more on an average lunch, buying a mini-BP and the main BP isn’t really in the category of whale bait.

Originally packs were the main monetization path of the game, and most people sold the items from the packs.
BPs changed all that, but originally most of the items weren’t tradeable. By giving us the ability to craft tradeable BP items and by keeping their prices relatively high through scarcity, it gives people the option of making coin from BPs.
That’s added value, for those that take advantage of it.

Yes it is

Hmm, not sure this is true… Maybe 1 kind word in about 100 towards the devs? Certainly on this forum!

Genuinely I think this is it… Some on this forum have spent hundreds or thousands of dollars. To me that’s insane, I mean, for this. Back in the day when the gaming industry was actually good this would have been in the £5 bargain bin.

No you can sell them for 100 a piece, this is very different. Profit is still very low.

DING DING DING… We have a winner… Yep it’s all about THIS! Buy the pass, buy the mini pass, buy the packs, buy buy buy… everything is for sale!

That’s the reality of any free-to-play game. There’s always going to be something they’re selling, otherwise it’s not a functioning business.

For me, the line between predatory and normal capitalism is whether a F2P player can still have fun and compete, and whether they can obtain all the items without paying.
At the moment, Crossout still ticks off all those boxes.
It comes close to the line, but nothing is hidden behind a paywall yet.

Its definitely in the grey area.

Usually by the time any average player grinds out for the new stuff they get a week of being competitive before it’s nerfed and we’re onto the next BP.

No one should waste energy and coin chasing whatever the new powerful weapon is. Especially not new F2P players.
If you are F2P, you should be looking for bargains among older items that are still competitive.
Spend your time getting better at the weapons you can afford.

yeah thats true, i was just giving the base amount for what a rare would cost, i didnt include the cost of the common parts. maybe i should have.

there are a few items that do interest me. like before in the battlepass i got 2 jotuns fused because i really liked them and i didnt need to spend coin on them. now i got a few of them unfused in my inventory. they are bound to get nerfed anyways so i guess your right.

i kinda mixed it up there, i was a bit scatter brained at the time lol.

i suppose not but they can at the very least give us a few permanent blueprints every battlepass instead of making all of them temporary. i mean sure we got the helis and battlewalker legs permanent but they should at the very least keep one or two items as buildable permanently. even if its just an epic weapon.

they could find other ways to give us temporary means of making them like they did in the past with the temporary blueprints. i mean im not against something like that, just theres ALOT of items that are temporary and some of these items are required to make relic weapons which i feel is unfair to limit them and a relic that requires those items.

try reddit, the sespool of toxic users.

you see people tossing tens of thousands of dollars at madden for their randomized card packs, aka gambling. its just disappointing that people toss money at such stuff without any rhyme or reason.

sure if they toss money into the game to turn their build into a meta build. is that fun? nope. but apparently the only things that matter to some people is their egos and having to feed into that ego.

to me, fun, is something i have when im engaged in a game. when im working together with my team to complete a challenge. this game has no real challenges in it, its all just the same thing all the time. sure they are now mixing up the crap out of brawls but we have no good permanent things in here. raids give vastly different rewards depending which ones you do and some raids are completely worthless. steel cradle gives the lowest rewards out of any raid but is the fastest, its still not worth the fuel it costs to run it. some other raids give alot less despite being within 30 seconds of completion time from other raids. “fun” is what we make of it, but the devs need to make the game more engaging rather then just toss endless amounts of battlepasses and mini battlepasses into the game and trying to call it fixed. fix the game properly so we can properly enjoy everything it has to offer. hell if we had more to do i wouldnt mind spending 20 bucks on a pack or something now and then.

or experiment around, find a weapon that suits your playstyle and practice with said weapon and perfect your playstyle alongside the weapon of choice. hell even have a few weapons to choose from. alot of epic weapons hit pretty hard for what they are.

People are morons.

That makes them not F2P anymore, not sure what your point is?
