it says here the weapon damage bonus gradually decreases to zero when the projectiles durability reaches 50% … the projectile has durability??
so does this mean its like a cannon round?
cannon rounds deal damage as it passes through parts until it hits a certain threshold then it explodes of fizzles out. is it the same for the thrust?
also this weapon seems pretty useless.
i was up close to someone and fired the weapon right at them. literally wedged someone and i fired and both weapons just didnt do anything, it just bounced off the enemy doing nothing… am i missing something here?
also im really disliking the test prototypes brawl. its just a bunch of people running those stupid triton hyena builds running into people. wheres the fun in that?
i wanted to test it out with the thrust weapons and they just suck. the projectiles are incredibly slow, people can see them coming and they do practically nothing at close range. on top of that its really irritating to just have one of those melee users coming up on you and you not being able to do anything about it. i have seen people trying to use the inquisitor rocket launcher and missing 95% of their shots when trying to hit me. seriously drive sideways around them and they cant hit you lol…
these additions to weapons are just bad and also sad at the same time.
Well… it’s a lot of fun… better yet… more than that, it’s extremely satisfying, one punch and you get through…i’m gonna get those tracks, i like them and they are double purpose.
I think the " tin " says, the Thrust can be used as a melee weapon ( like saws ) or like a thing that you throw into the other build, but if you use as a grinding tool it’s durability is going to decline over time, over use and damage number won’t be as big.
If you throw like fortunes e,g. then the numbers will be bigger.
I tried it and if you grind long enough they will disappear and the reload starts.
Perhaps you wedged the other guy for too long , perhaps they wore out to make any more damage.
I wasn’t too keen on the Thrust thing either. I think the intent is to play it like a Fortune or Doom, but at close range I noticed it just bouncing off the other guy as well. Definately an oddball weapon.
The Thrust clearly has some spotty code plaguing its performance. I also noticed sometimes it just jostles around an enemy build without doing any damage, without you having worn it down any in melee.
i noticed this to… i hit some builds with it before fresh out of the launcher and it just… bounced off… without doing any damage…
it seems like they need to run into it or something for it to do high amounts of damage. i noticed i was getting low amounts of damage at times and sometimes it would wiggle around on a build but do minimal to no damage. its such a strange weapon in the way it deals damage. sometimes builds would run into them and they would only do like 100 damage. sometimes i could get 600+ out of them but that was rare.
they just seem to do odd amounts of damage and effect parts differently. they are incredibly slow, they play like something similar to a mine launcher but they arent a mine launcher. im curious to see how bots interact with them because bots often avoid weapons that act like mines. playing these will be incredibly difficult…
I think what might be happening is that it does melee damage even when launched, so if it hits a bumper that has melee resistance it may do very little damage, and if it hits a part that does melee damage it may get destroyed without doing any damage.
Anyway, I think it’s going to get a big buff, as it’s far too underwhelming. Then again, they’ve released lots of BP items that remained weak for years before being buffed into something that can actually be used.
Occasionally it seems to get caught in the frames of a build and does some real damage, but that’s been pretty rare in the brawl.
I love the idea of the weapon, but I’m probably going to spend my bearings on a second disc launcher instead.
Yes and no, basically the only way to loose that “durability” is to use it as a meelee weapon, basically that prevents from cheesing with it to grind as much damage out of meelee usage and lastly deliver a full-damage projectile shot as well at the end. So when you are grinding at an enemy, you kinda have to make a choice between if you want to go full meelee, or grind at the enemy a little and then launch the projectile and then retreat to reload
The projectile deals ram damage, so basically think of it as the same as driving right into someone with a spiky bumper. Your shots possibly hit a frame or bumper or a movement part that tanked the damage. Also why it deals more damage the faster you are driving towards the enemy when launching it, and more damage based on how fast the projectile itself is traveling
Same, they made the Hyena build way too optimized and good compared to most of the other builds. And especially the Thrust build got done super dirty, that build can’t turn for shits worth on a weapon where you need mobility beyond just driving in a straight line
Yeah they’re not super good all in all, quite lackluster all around. Even the Hyena tracks suck because they’re very hard to match with most other tracks (oversteering issues and top speed problems due to awkward height compared to most tracks) and kinda only work optimal with more Hyenas, but you only get 2 from the pass if you want to get any legendary weapons out of it
I tested them in my garage only so far. In there, they are behaving VERY nicely, I will ram my build into another build to pin it to the wall and THEN I fire the projectile to take out the frames and any explosives under the build. Eventually people will cry hard enough to get it nerfed, so use it while you can.
yeah i was experimenting around with one from the exhibition last night and i did notice that. it behaves like a saw blade when not fired and it gradually loses durability as it grinds away and then breaks when the durability hits 0 then reloads a new one. such an odd mechanic but interesting to say the least. to me this would be a trick weapon to use.
actually i framed them before wedging them. i fired a shot from the weapon and it just bounced off them doing no damage.
i was thinking that this was the case. i did some experimenting in the garage to because i figured it did more damage as it was traveling fast from the inertia of driving forward, i did multiple tests and found that it did small amounts of damage when going at normal speed but higher damage at higher speeds. the slower speed tended to bounce more and get slightly more hits while the faster moving ones tended to bounce off the target after hitting and dealing damage making it unable to do more damage unless someone ran over them.
yeah it was so frustrating. that builds just way to overpowered… and frustrating to deal with. i seen countless people running the inquisitors just get rammed by these guys and grinded down all the time. felt bad for them people.
omg you noticed that to? i was so frustrated with how bad the turning on them was. i was trying so hard to turn when i got myself into a corner but it just wouldnt work. its even worse cause the hyena builds can just rip you apart so easily to, they are so bad to use. not to mention the thrust only has 20 ammo… what the hell am i going to do with 20 ammo!? thats so low for running a vehicle thats terrible to begin with!
i had 4 blueprints for the therms so i just used them and am going to get 4 hyenas though i might use 2 of them for the thrust weapons… not to sure yet. but dont worry theyll put them in a future mini battlepass thatll only cost you 10 bucks!!!
I like it, but not for damage output, but because it gives us uranium-free peasants the ability to play porc like gameplay without owning porcs
Honestly though I am underwhelmed by all three of the guns and the track as well, as a weapon. I think they will also look super underwhelming for most players as well due to the last pass having unique new dual mode firing mechanism weapon, the most OP pos in a “while” and then the Shredder just looks really cool while spitting shots
These current ones just seem so bare bones and underwhelming in comparison
