Aim assist

The aim assist needs to go, or they need to re-balance out all continuous fire/rapid fire weaponry with the aim assist in mind. Single shot type weapons as well possibly but honestly those are not really doing really good for the most part, even with aim assist.

Or, they really need to nerf the aim assist if they won’t nerf the weapons themselves. If someone can’t play because of that happening, well tough luck womp womp

as i said in gen chat… AIM ASSIST = LEGALIZED CHEATING

  1. and foremost…in this day ang age you can buy mouse and keyboard for consoles no problemo (as opposed to some years ago) and they function normally (again …as opposed to some years ago…), so…

  2. if people CHOOSE to play with a gamepad WHY TF should they be helped/rewarded for it…they choose to play w pads…so get good or use mouse and keyboard…

in a single player game it’s all right, BUT IN A PVP GAME THEY ARE JUST LEGALIZED CHEATING!!!
and any1 w 2 functioning brain cells should know that…

I think all PC users should have to use game controllers. It’s a game, not a thesis. Leave the keyboards in school.

Console players exist. Wow

There’s more buttons on a keyboard so you can do more things

i never used aim assist in my entire time playing. i manually aim my shots and thats how i got so good at shot leading. but didnt they nerf aim assist into the ground though?

I don’t even know how to “aim assist”, I just play the game with mouse and keyboard like a good PC player.

Aim assist has gone through a bunch of changes since I started playing.
There was a time when they gave us more parameters to play with, and players figured out how to turn it into an easily abused auto-aim (although that was only really useful for hitscan weapons).
Currently it’s more useful than the original version (which locked to the cabin), but not nearly as extreme as it was during the auto-aim era.
I go through phases of using it and not using it. Currently I am using it on the moderate setting, but undecided about how much it’s really helping me.
I wish you could save your setting with blueprints, as assist makes some weapons slightly worse, and slightly improves other weapons.

I find it more relaxing to play with assist on, but I don’t seem to perform noticeably better with it on.

It reacts to the wrong target often enough that I know I’ll get annoyed with it soon and turn it off again.

don’t bother mate…u r wasting your breath…

they have aim assist on pc? LOL what?
pc is so much easier to aim with then on a controller. im on ps4 and i never used aim assist before.

Agreed! As a casual pvp player this does nothing to teach players how to use their brain for predictive shooting. Even I hate my hand being held.
Not so much of an “assist” rather than a “awww you can’t aim? Never mind learning, here let me guide your hand”.

Bingo!

If you don’t like it make a petition to Targem to have your console battles seperate from PC. Yeee, that wont happen though because the game doesn’t have enough of a player base for obvious historical reasons.
It’s ridiculous to try to make PC players change for you console players. It’s cringe how this attitude is in parallel to “modern” world social and societal expectations and the demands from those certain demographics.

WTF you talk about, PC already play separately.

Main problem for PC is (and not many do so, seems some top clans mostly - difference visible between top clans aiming):

Also just as playing PS PAD connected to PC people got aim assist ofc. Previous non-enhanced one was at least some balanced. But new one is cheating.

Sorry, what are you talking about?
What is this new cheating aim assist?

As far as I can tell, nothing has changed since they got rid of the option to set it to extreme auto-aim.

It’s much less powerful than it once was.

removed?!?
…did a check a few days ago…auto aim has 4 levels you can choose from…rofl…extreme being one of them…

Looks like they did add another setting recently, but it’s actually called “enhanced”, and the fourth setting you mention is no assist.

The options are:

  • off
  • standard
  • moderate
  • enhanced

When I have a minute later this week I’ll try the new setting and report back on what it is.
If it’s just a stronger version of standard, than I doubt I’ll find it very useful. But people who only play MGs and lasers and who are also bad at aiming might like it.
If it snaps to the cabin, it’s really counterproductive, as Crossout is more about degunning if you want to be competitive.

Has anyone compared it to the other two modes yet?

Played around with the new aim assist options today for a little bit, and it looks like the three options are all different intensities of the friction aim assist. Doesn’t snap towards the target like the original magnetic mode, but instead slows your left stick movement when you’re over an enemy. Definitely makes it easier to zero in on guns or modules. But also makes aiming feel kind of sluggish and jerky, especially on enhanced and standard settings. Kind of annoying if you’re trying to lead a target.
The moderate setting is the only one I didn’t find annoying to use, but I think I’m going to turn it off again. I think it might actually be screwing me up when I’m playing both short range builds and any projectile weapons.

I see i didnt even need get myself tired explaining you how aim assist work, at least you fixed yourself later.

You no need, if you would look reddit there are comparisons already.

Like you tested yourself its not perfect for every weapon ofc, but it is cheat for some weapons.
Mostly destructors or hit-scan weapons this aim assist like never miss part-target. No need play when game play perfectly for you lol. Maybe they should make auto-battle-game if they continue -.-

You’re rude

I’m sorry, how does reducing the sensitivity of your left stick while over a target mean “never miss part-target” or “game play perfectly for you”?

That seems like a huge exaggeration and does not accurately describe what it does at all.

I’m not saying it’s not useful, but it’s also definitely not what you are describing either. And the fact remains that the vast majority of weapons in the game either do not benefit from this, or are made worse by using it.

Some variation on aim assist is extremely common with console games. The version that Crossout currently uses is not particularly powerful compared to most.

Personally, I think that anyone freaking out about it at this point is just looking for an excuse to explain their own poor performance.
