So Legendary Flutes dropped, and after testing them out in exhibition I can safely say that they’re a perfect example of just how bad/out of touch the modern gun planning and creation is in crossout.
First of all, damage is bad. This sadly has not much to do with the gun itself but the same problem that has been plaguing Crossout for MULTIPLE years and has lead to huge buffs to specific guns without ever addressing the core problem. Explosive damage/effect just does not work. It does not deliver damage, it’s tanked and absorbed by everything, twice as much so after they fumbled around with damage resistances of parts for no good reason, it plainly sucks. Just tossing bullets does more devastation than huge explosions, shotgun blasts blow bigger holes into builds than grenades and missiles/rockets.
Second, while trying to be an upgrade to the Flute, it’s a serious downgrade as it takes away the MAIN THING the Flutes offer. Maneuverable rockets. This is done in many ways, but the biggest offender is the launching angle. While Flutes launch straight forward, these launch straight up. So already it’s had countered by maps just as all shoots directly up guns like artillery and Nests and Trombone etc, from which the Flutes do not suffer. Then, for them to actually hit the enemy like this, they’ve basically taken away rocket turn speed/flight speed so you can’t really maneuver or guide the missiles almost at all. No chasing enemies, no hitting them behind covers, not really hitting moving targets and especially being unable to even hit helis. In fact the true “guiding” does not even start the minute you launch these things, like on the Flute, but only after they’ve launched up and then turned to start going downwards. Same with how they will only break into smaller projectiles only after doing that, even if you just tap the firing button.
