Avalanche overpenetration

So, can anyone remind me again why the original battle pass Ava got a + penetration perk slapped onto it, that makes the gun just not work properly in most cases, and then in the following passes never offer it with this arguably downgrade, and focus more on the other fusion buffs?

what do you mean not work properly? is it like… not dealing as much damage or something?

Aim better. Hitting a low HP structure part on the edge of the build doesnt work…by design. Aim better

This pretty much, with how the bullet flies (it still has the extreme downward trajectory even after their “changes to get people to stop using it as a facehugging weapon”, just -20% extremity in a nutshell) + the penetration problem, you usually end up with shooting in a way it flies either too high, either penetrating a structural part or few but the main shell flying over/through the enemy, or ending up penetrating and hitting the ground and the explosive damage being absorbed by frames and such, you’re pretty much stuck trying to get a cabin hit on this gun, or just penetrating the build and hitting the cab rather than any modules and once again the explosive effect not working like they should, which in return is a global problem on explosive weapons

And with the facehug prevention changes, now it can also penetrate an enemy build all together at a facehugging distance as well and doing the flying behind the build or even hitting the ground and not popping much anything, ending up with feeling like the weapon itself is bugged.

UNLESS you do not have the + penetration fusion on it, which sadly the one most people have from the original pass have.

Basically a weapon where the penetration ability hinders the weapon from functioning that well, and the penetration ability got extra boosted. Which also seems to be a thing the devs are acknowledging because all the Avalanches I have recently seen are offered with no penetration fusions and instead much more better fusions

If they added a parameter like “less penetration the farther away the enemy is” this could fix the weapon a little, because what feels like the solution to facehugging with it (shots go through the build and fly all over the place) also seems to hinder it at a range, if not even more at a range than at a facehugging distance

But it’s going through center of mass, too. I’ve watched it go through the cabin before and pop out the other side.

Cabins are impenetrable. Now you just seem like youre witchhunting or unable to process and analyze what actually happened. Because again, cabins are impenetrable.

Might have been an under the radar change, or a bug, or bad connection, but I’ve seen it happen.

its a bug, ive shot builds with jotuns right on the cabin before and the shot goes through the cabin without dealing damage but the puddle still appears. its been known for a little while but yeah… i hope its fixed soon. :unamused:
