Theoretically you might be correct, but this has one big prerequisite term that need to be satisfied first: Having a stable and low latency connection across the world to the game server.
Right now, every region other than the existing 3 servers (NA, EU and RU) all have severe latency (300+ms, with >200 kbit “received”) that will affect everyone outside the server regions. I have heard of complains from NA players when they tried to connect to EU server during their off-peak hours.
Hit-scan removal is a drastic software change that has a strict hardware (game server) requirement. You won’t install an advanced software that exceeds the capability of your computer’s motherboard, do you? it will guarantee to lag a lot and cause problem to both the software and the computer, if not straight up crashing both.
Since the 10th anniversary of Crossout is approaching, it’s only logical to assume that improving server connection / migrating service to a better server is completely out of Targem’s priority list. 10, god damn, years.
When the basic server (hardware) requirement of removing hit-scan strip is not even a thing to be considered, the software change should never be done over the hardware change.
What I see from these liars that chanted for hit-scan strip is that, they are fully aware that the server is not in a shape to properly run the balance change in question, but they do so anyway, so that a massive amount of players that are capable to target their exposed weakspots, are now barred from ever taking that approach due to the hit-scan that mitigate the server latency does not exist anymore.
And hence, some of the players are now forced to become part of the “hive”, because there simply isn’t any other options left.
The said change also ended up promoting the “W + m1” tactic of brick and dogs, because the hit-scan machine guns, which, rely on pin-point tracking to compensate their lack of alpha damage, lost their major and only means of dealing effective damage at range. This caused a whopping 29% drop of player counts, according to SteamDB.
1/3 of our players are gone because a handful of these hive minds refuse to improve their vehicle design or accept the fact that they failed to upkeep the unforgivingly high skill floor of their fancy glass cannon.
