Most likely, depends on what ps you are in total too, like where having 5 would send you to the higher ps bracket or something but aside that Id say youre closer to 6 that way. Dura/wheel losing wise it’s still valid like any wheels but since theyre more durable, I don’t think it’s as important.
Like for background my build was a killdozer compact build with bastion 4 tacklers and only 4 omnis (its weak point was getting sideswiped or from behind) sitting around what 10-12k ps? and I dont recall losing my wheels that often, usually they just went for my cab. I’d imagine people don’t really priorise them as much as wheels since theyre more durable. I can imagine with a more pancake styled build, youd have higher odds of getting them shot off so thats where id go with 6 or 5.
Yup. Even if you only have your two back wheels left you move fine. It’s when you get down to only one wheel that u start to drive wonky. If you say only have two wheels left on one side you can still move around and fight, you just may need to use strafe to move better at that point. It really depends on the length of your build. My short stubby sideways wang/2x aegis build can drive very well with only its back two omnis left. It only has four to begin with.
Frankly losing my wheels and being immobilized is not a frequent issue on my omni builds.
Yes it does. I’ve even run three wheel omni builds for events to keep my p’s low and fit my build in the PS bracket. My echo mastadon side omni build has five wheels.
I don’t find that any of the epic wheels are that vulnerable to dewheeling these days. I’d rather have speed than redundancy.
The big advantage with omnis is that you can drive sideways or backwards if your forward movement is impaired by dewheeling.
I can’t emphasize enough how important it is to enable reverse mode in your settings if you want to use Omnis.
Look up BAGOMNI on exhibition, made by me. Rebind your movement for a sideways hover (EQADWS, if I remember correctly) and try to drive using forward+strafe.
A neat little trick, hope you will enjoy omnis the same way as I do
Thanks, but I am not a PC player.
You can rebind your inputs on PS4 in the accessibility menu.
Depending on what control layout you use, it’s pretty much just switching your strafe controls with your gas/reverse.
I don’t feel like sideways omni builds are better, but I do see a few people running them.
It depends what weapons and setup you going to use. That determines if a sideways omni build is better. Like my li’l reaper build needs to be sideways in order to get optimal recoil management(side omnis handles recoil soooo much better than normal omnis). I have a yongwang double bubble build that I can’t fit inside both bubbles unless it’s sideways, in order to have my gun buried behind my cab. I have a side omni mastadon build that needs a sideways build as well because of the massive recoil on a lighter build, as well as how I use the canons to protect my cabin. In most other scenarios side omnis are kind of pointless though.
I know we can remap our controls for sideways… but we cannot see his PC build on console exhibition.
Best setup is replacing them with some other movement part and cutting down your ps conciderably
If you pay attention to the OP, it states at top PS…so PS is completely irrelevant.
Still if top PS is insert amount you can still put much more other movement parts onto a build and be insert amount than using only Omni’s
But I think that the sideways Omni builds aren’t as good as people seem to think they are, at least playing around on exhibition builds it feels like normal Omni builds are way better than whatever attempts at sideways hover efficiency people are trying to chase after with sideways omni builds, the movement feels janky and twitchy
The PS doesn’t make them perform better or worse. When we go into CW, the build doesn’t do bonus damage or get bonus uranium for using a lower PS. 10k or 20k PS doesn’t matter, only results count. The PS is completely irrelevant in this particular thread.
Sorry, I realized that’s what you probably meant right after I submitted my reply.
Oh well, probably still useful info for newer console players.
No worries bud
Just going to put out there that setup can mean a lot of things. When I initially read this, I assumed you were speaking on wheel placement. In which case… Diagonal pairings.
I know you’re here for CW and probably don’t mind not playing the same boring meta build. You’re on consoles, tho, no? I suggest you try to check some Omni + Augers builds. There’s a funny interaction that makes them accelerate extremely fast in at least 3 diagonal directions. I’m playing with a 8 Omni 2 augers 2 small tracks monster on PC exhib rn, that thing accels to 61 kmh faster than a naked Growl with 4 Omnis…
I’m def going to try to make a brick but sideways, on Omnis + Grinders instead of Hermits + BFs when the current event ends.
Omnis and auger combo excels faster than just omnis? I never realized that. It must have something to do with omnis having lower frame clearence, thus tipping both movement parts to reduce overall traction and movement part- to -ground contact points. It would fall in to how crossouts traction system works.
I wonder if this is a result of the new auger hit boxes, or if the parts paired always acted like this.
Note I’m yet to test this part combo still.
I’m going to test out this combo this week. I love augers, and if omnis can improve them, I am very happy.
I tried a combo build a while ago, but that was a slow machinist build that I was trying to max out the HP on.
