Builds have been broken with many updates, this is nothing new. Even that armour update killed many of the builds I had on exhibition, let alone how many builds the engine changes broke.
None of that is a problem. It’s just a good excuse to get back in the garage and do some building, experimentation, and find some new possibilities.
Every big update makes the game feel new again, which is one of the many reasons I never get bored with Crossout.
I don’t like build being broken. Drives me nuts.
I can relate to that ( I really can), but in this case the build being broken is one that uses an exploit. The others should be able to be reworked, and ya that is a hassle, and I’d sure love to see them get out of this eternal OBT (never gonna happen), but I do think that eliminating the sideways hover exploit is crucial to them being able to further develop that feature at all, and even though some of this is awkward and uncomfortable, it is necessary to accomplish in order to go forward. Personally, I think they’ll probably have to nerf hovers once people realize how much easier it is to manage them, but we’ll see,if they release it uncompromised.
Obviously, lots of people have succumbed to using the sideways-hover-exploit (they’re everywhere), and a good many of them are mad about it and are the most vocal dissenters (that’s why this issue revolves around them), but that’s because hovers were garbage if they were used conventionally. Almost nobody besides bot do. Now they’re not garbage. They’re not wobbly uncontrollable pieces of spinning junk like they were anymore, under the new parameters. They’re fun, and now all hover players are on equal ground with this exploit finally dealt with.
IMO, if those people had the all the proud and grand mental fortuity, all the expert skills they purport to have, this change wouldn’t be viewed with all the gnashing of teeth it’s getting, (certainly not from PC players). If they had that kind of sense, they’d understand it for the buff it is, and probably have more appreciation for what the developers have done here. It’s an impressive opus, IMO. October has never looked better.
I’m content to see a compromise made with the controller situation if it was necessary, but good riddance to sideways hovers. I applaud the courage for the developers to make this move and I’m sure it will be better even in the short term.
It’d probably be a good opportunity for them to put together a hover pack to commemorate the event, or put the one they have up for a discount. People (on PC) who haven’t tried them before would love them under these new parameters, instead of seeing them as the wobbly, unstable, and weak movement part they were formerly…I still don’t think marketing is their strong suit, so IDK, but I salute their achievement with this update.
Unfortunately we’re pissing into the wind here with the folks traumatized by sideways hovers. They want restriction, they want elimination of options and play-styles, as long as it punishes and eliminates what they hate. Everyone else caught in the crossfire be damned, we’re acceptable losses.
I’m almost grateful they seem to prioritize feedback on reddit over this forum, now; the change is wildly unpopular over there from what I’ve seen.
Lol, this is priceless, he says this like everyone that doesn’t use hovers has not been the crosshairs for years. It’s time to find a new OP toy to play with. This one has ran its course.
Dude, I play hovers. But at least I’ll be honest and admit that the sideways configuration of hovers is broken and always has been.
My final reply to you, as you obviously refuse to discuss from a position of good faith and continue to manifest a strawman to project upon.
I don’t use your loathed sideways hovers. This affects more than just hovers, in a very adverse way.
Address that, or screw off.
Absolutely. You’re exploiting the system. You can line up for your pity party behind all the people who enjoyed the wedge exploit. It’s no different.
sideways hovers are not what makes hovers op but ok lol i guess
I think that’s BS, but then who would care if they vanish, if it’s no advantage to do it that way? They aren’t pretty. They don’t have any cultural significance. They don’t taste better. Why would people bother if it wasn’t the thing that made them effective? If it isn’t giving them an edge why do it?
You also simply lack reading comprehension, or just willfully misrepresent the argument. This affects more than hovers, builds using legs, augers, and omnis will suffer from this.
Address that in a way other than a sideways hover strawman, or stop wasting everyone’s time.
So if sideways is not OP then everyone should not mind building forward, right?
And in a way your right, many things make hovers OP.
- being able to fly over cars
- being able to fly over acid lakes
- being almost impossible to flip over
- being able to get to max speed in any direction quickly
- not losing all of your momentum when you bump something, you can bounce around like a pinball machine
- and so on and so on
So losing a little versatility should help put them on an even playing field.
They are still going to be the best movement part.
I’ve given my review multiple times. I think it’s better for ML-200s, and wheels of all sorts have been improved, IMO. As for tracks, it doesn’t effect them in hardly any way. Augers? IDK. What’s the problem?
Fact is, it isn’t those people who use Augers that are making all the noise about this. Is there something specific you feel like hasn’t been addressed relative to Augers? I like Augers, so if there is a real issue, I’m interested in hearing it, and then I will investigate it myself.
Strawman? Almost all of the protests about this update are in regard to hovers. It’s not building a Strawman to address an issue directly in context.
i just dont really like this update cause its harder to build forward hovers and i’d have to change my brain to build an ENTIRELY different meta
plus camera zoom level is shit and way hovers behave
So now we are getting to the real reasons.
Oh behalf of the Crossout community I would like to apologize for the inconvenience of you having to play the building part of this game. We can’t expect everyone to be able to wrap their brain around it. But don’t worry! Us builders promise to build new meta builds for the people that can’t and post them so the cut and paste tradition can continue.
Don’t worry, we got you!
bro you play literally xbox crossout lmfao gtfo
“wow guys my opinion matters cause i fight the same 3 people with my fused relics so good!!!”
Copy-pasting my 2-cents from another topic to this one since this is the official discussion on the update:
I like the more “realistic” suspension/hover tilt and steering, especially on legs. I could also get used to changing around the SD and QE keys’ strafing controls; it’s more like walking than driving, but the aim following the camera completely negates the point of strafing and is completely counterproductive to the idea of strafing to begin with. I guess it could work for fixed/limited angled weapons…
Devs, listen to the players; if there is ONE thing you need to revert from these physics changes, it’s the vehicle direction following the camera. At the very least, make it a toggleable key bind on strafing builds, maybe to the ALT key’s function?
I would suggest the same thing to the dev team.
Go back and listen to the years of people complaining about sideways hovers and finally put a nail in that coffin.
We got maybe what? 10 posts here about the update over the last few days.
Why don’t we pull both forums, reddit, and VK posts with hundreds of topics over years where the player have asked for sideways hovers to be removed.
Thank you for finally listening to your player base.
thats a key point about this preliminary update only a small minority here mention specifically. monkey and the w pushers dont seem to comprehend this or maybe refuse to.
mouse aim movement/driving is the most basic, most arcade, most dumbed down, most mobile game/crappy console port seeming way to do movement on pc with mnk.
console plebs dont care about pc/mnk because its normal for them to have really shitty movement. e.g. gta flight mechanics which are within the norm of how console games do movement, gross.
on pc we do movement with wasd, mouse aim movement is unintuitive and super shitty/arcade compared to it. and the devs know this, stating the changes should make it easier for beginners to use strafing parts.
an anecdotal example is doc savage, who documented trying the old hovers but ended up not liking them because they were too hard to control. his comment on the test server hovers was positive because theyre easier to steer now. limited, arcadey, basic. lower skill ceiling, easier access.
theyre dumbing the game down even more and people see and dont like it.
others love it however, be it because it gives them access to something which was previously too hard or because their monkey brains are just large enough to realize that a dumbed down game is beneficial to them.
It is a man-crush, isn’t it? You can admit it. Times are changing. Nobody cares.
Look, “Muppet,” This update is the game developer’s idea. Not mine. If you’re so smart go develop your own game and do to it how you see fit. My opinion of this update is the same as the developers. I’m OK with being as stupid as they are.
How are you doing? You’re the one struggling with this, not me.
And that’s a bad thing?
