it would be quite amazing if the players could use contact 2m in bedlam, maybe join bedlam as a group or have a "peaceful’ feature enabled between players. id like to see this in game, everyones thoughts on this
The reason contacts don’t work in bedlam is because everyone is designated as an enemy, and you can only connect to a friendly. They would have to change every player to a “friendly”, but then you couldn’t fight it out with anyone (and then Bedlam would be renamed to Elysium).
I imagine there could be a feature to designate certain players as friendlies, but that could devolve into traitorous behavior, and you know how sensitive some people are.
But yeah, it would be wild to have a team of 6 players connected together, fighting another connected group of 6 players. From experience I’ll tell you though, the more players connecting together, the longer it takes to work out the kinks and get everyone on the same page. You have to coordinate everyone’s position in the cluster, make sure the connectors connect reliably (ESPECIALLY when the ground IS NOT EVEN AND FLAT), and make sure your weapons can clear the guy in front of you. Often, one person is the “driver” of the cluster, and most if not all of the other players don’t even have wheels; and the driver has to run around picking everyone up…and by that time, the battle can be half over before the cluster even fires a shot. Weapon selection is also critical; you’re at the mercy of the guy driving, and if your weapons require you sitting still for a moment, forget about it. And…pray that the driver doesn’t change the build from session to session, or the team will spend hours just rebuilding. And if that happens, by the time you get finished building, someone will have to bail out anyway because it’s past their bedtime!
thats why i was thinking players could enter bedlam as a 4 person group, like make a group then go in. i mean ppl go into bedlam anyways as friends and “group up”. its a freedom area to be creative and go to war with each other.
You could do that using the custom battle modes, if you can coordinate getting everyone together. Form 2 teams, give everyone time to connect, then have at it. You could probably even have multiply-connected players fighting the robot Leviathans.
Two problems.
First of all, matchmaking doesn’t works well with bedlam. If you try to join a server in a group, it will make another lobby for you in ~95% of cases. So it’s basically a custom battle at this point.
You either need to wait till your server gets filled or go to your hangar, assemble the group and try again, which is tedious.
Then there’s the respawn mechanic (aka everyone gets spawned at the different corners of the map). It will be hard to make a fusion for even two players, let alone three or four.
Plus don’t forget about trolling aspect. There was already a bug that allowed to join bedlam with a levi, so nah we don’t need another one of this bs
I’m sure I’m not understanding but are you saying its possible to fight an AI Levi in customs?
I fully agree we could use something new in Bedlam, somehow breathe new life into it, the new maps and climb course are nice though.
Yes! You can fight with Levis in some of the customs. Solo or in groups, and against bot Levis or live players. You can have two teams of up to 8 players, human, bots, or mixed. They incorporated that around this time last year, iirc.
You can also have mixed-build-type teams, where some people use levis, some use copters, and some use regular builds. It’s quite flexible.
It’s not supposed to. In bedlam, whoever comes in, comes in, regardless of their PS. People will come and go throughout the session, either to switch builds or simply use the bathroom. Also, if you come in as a group, you get your own bedlam session to start with, but after a while, it may start letting others in, if the primary bedlam session is full.
