Mad fire at the door! New features of the major February update. Part 3

Hello, survivors!
Let’s continue learning about the new features of the upcoming season. In the third part, we’ll talk about the legendary disk launcher and epic track. Let’s dive in!
We remind you that all the new features described in the “Developer blog” are not final and may be changed before they are introduced into the game or may not make it into the game at all. This also applies to all visual materials.
Legendary disk launcher

We think many would agree that playing as a “rogue” has always brought its own unique fun to any game. Applying the “bleeding” effect or poisons to an enemy and then watching their health bar melt away is a special kind of pleasure in virtual battles. The Lunatics have crafted a disk launcher with blades that do roughly the same thing to the enemy. For greater effect, you need to choose the spot with maximum concentration of parts in the enemy build.
The disk itself attaches to the enemy and begins to slowly cut through their parts, dealing periodic damage upon contact. When contact with the parts is lost or the disk’s active time ends, the projectile explodes, but the force of the explosion depends on the amount of periodic damage inflicted. In short, if you fail to cut through a bunch of parts, a relatively strong explosion will somewhat compensate for the failure, and if you manage to cut the enemy to pieces, then everything is fine, and you don’t need the explosion. It is important to know that the disk does not penetrate weapons, movement parts, or the cabin, and the enemy’s allies can shoot down the disk and disrupt your plans.
The disk launcher perk is the cherry on top of your opponents’ suffering. As it deals periodic damage, the disk launcher accumulates up to five charges. Each charge increases the periodic damage of the next disk. The rate at which charges accumulate depends on the number of parts in contact with the disk and the penetration speed of the projectile. To be honest, we didn’t expect the Lunatics to create something so complex. That doesn’t mean we think they’re “thoughtless”! Not at all.
Epic track

Our conversation about the parts of the new season concludes with the new epic track from the Lunatics. As you can see in the image above, this new movement part has a BIG front roller with a bunch of blades in it. Have you guessed what they’re for? Come on, it’s the Lunatics we’re talking about.
The new track is perfect for smashing into enemies at high speed. When you reach 45 km/h, the BIG front roller starts dealing damage when it hits an enemy. This damage increases as you gather speed, up to 90 km/h. So, just speed up and smash into the enemy. It hurts, yeah.
Structural parts of the new season

Brawls in the update
The next update will also bring back some familiar brawls, namely the “At gunpoint” (now not just with the first person view, but with a view from the cabin itself. We assembled the cabins specifically for this mode!), “Ice and Fire,” and “Test prototypes,” in which you can once again try out the new season’s parts.
There will also be a rookie among the veterans: the new “Precious driver” brawl. It’s like the “Developer hunt”, only without the developers. One player will be randomly selected from each team. The task of that player is to defeat as many enemies as possible, because they get more points than the others, but the risk is that the enemy will also get a lot of points for destroying the chosen player. So you need to protect your team’s precious driver and hunt down the enemy one. The team that scores the most points wins. Note that this is a mode without respawns, and you can always win by simply killing all your opponents, but it is still more profitable to build your strategy around the chosen player.
Balance changes
With the launch of the new season we will also release unscheduled balance changes for the following parts:
Corax
Changed the parameters of the new blast damage mechanics:
- The total amount of fragments reduced by 25%.
- Damage is now reduced faster as you move away from the center of the explosion, and is now 60% at the border of the radius (instead of 80% before).
Breaker
- Now the perk charges after 0.8 sec. (instead of 0.6 sec. before).
- Bonus to damage from the perk reduced by 17%.
- The range of the shot with the active perk is increased by 60% (instead of 75% before).
Comment about both parts: the following weapons’ additional “firing” modes began to significantly stand out in ranked modes, so we decided to reduce their efficiency outside of the scheduled balance changes. The change to the “Breaker” partially mitigates its previous reinforcement. In the case of the “Corax”, the changes adjust the parameters of the new blast damage mechanics.
This blog entry concludes the series of publications about the new season, and you will be able to learn more about all the rewards and features of the season from our livestream next week. Stay tuned and good luck in battles!
P.S. The next update, coming in March, will have new content that has never been seen before in Crossout. Keep a close eye on our social media starting at the end of February.
