I’m sure this must of happened more times than I can count without realizing it but it is something that I never really noticed until now when rewatching some gameplay clips that I recorded during the 20k powerscore battle for uranium.
Ouch, yea never turn your back on a dangerous enemy… particularly a porc, that’s a sure fire way to a quick death.
I enjoy fighting against porcs with my whirl, keep shooting at the porcs/barrels and they explode when you hit them, porc effectively kills itself or runs away
See I was on porcs too but along with 2 fuki baris which is an absolute monster combo. I took a decent chunk out of him right before it happened and saw him repositioning. I could of finished him off but I thought the best place for me to be is in the pit helping my team with lots of heating but in order to make it to that position safely i had to escape from porc dude. Now i could of got him but I thought that the best choice was help the team increase their damage.
Now before i made the choice to run for the pit i checked the minimap to see what direction porc hover was facing and it looked like he was back on when in reality he was facing me which cost me dearly. If I thought he was facing me then I prob would of made the choice to finish him off instead. I tend to make a lot of good informed choices by paying close attention to the mini map but that is one scenario where it can really screw you is when the enemy player is playing a sideways build
But yea I wonder if that is the main reason for playing sideways builds? which is too trick other players into thinking that you are facing a direction in which you are not.
Never really thought about that, it may be a secondary consideration but the only reason to build sideways is to better protect movement parts and weapons with tracks ect. The only time i really come across them anymore is sideways meat grinders. I recently built a sideways omni but the cabin offset was weird and made aiming long range really problematic because the crosshair didn’t line up with the centre of the gun.
Thru out all of crossouts history the only movement parts that really built sideways was either hovers or legs but that new whirl meatgrinder meta at the higher powerscores is an absolute pain. Those builds can absolutely soak up all kinds of damage like its nothing including porc damage if attacked front on and because they are very nimble and quick turning it is hard to get them from the sides.
Lately I’ve been seeing wheeled builds with fixed angle weapons designed to shoot sideways only. Seen a few wheeled porc builds, and some snowfall ones.
