Half the reason im salty is quantum _rage up there.
I can’t say I like the perk they picked for the steppe cabin but I do agree with getting them off of the old perk that only effected legs and giving the legs the speed back.
The stat changes to the cab I think is another issue I always thought it should be a tank cabin which was a class that really wasn’t used for anything other than the Carapace. (A light heavy with medium energy output that isn’t very fast).
I never used it for the perk anyways, not very often i got a fused with -17% mass, and plus 10% weight limit and when i needed a heavy 12 energy cab steppe spider was the way too go. worked well with goliaths as well. I’m equally mad at both weight limit decrease and change of perk. If they are going to give a perk as bad to steppe spider as the one they are about to give they should at least keep weight limit stats same and save people the pain of breaking their builds as well.
Mine has been collecting dust for a long time so I’m almost game to pick up some extra crickets and slap them on just to try it. It’s definitely not the role I’ve ever used or pictured using one for one either. I mostly used it with tracks and meat grinders too when ignoring legs.
Well, i want that cab since forever, but stuff always get in the way… like fav cab, that useless generalist thing, i don’t use it for a while now and i don’t miss it.
I remember Nova cab when it came out nobody like it at first.
People get too much focused on the direct perks and forget about the indirect stuff.
For me, the spider is the best medium cab out there.
It used to be a heavy cab…but now…
the highest tonnage and mass limit with 12 points of energy
that means with the right co driver and the right engine it can go into heavy territory.
tell me another medium cab as capable as the spider and tell me another heavy cab that has 12 points of energy.
You have ghost and photon.
I choose photon over the other two, because of top speed… big mistake, it has decent mass limit but mediocre tonnage.
I should had gone with the spider all along.
But i keep zigging instead of zagging.
All speed doesn’t go anywhere, in fact i’m dropping every rad i have on my builds this point forward, i will have only coolers.
I will upgrade my medium builds, adding to them, not subtracting.
Can you elaborate on what you are talking about? I’m not up to speed on this subject
thank you
I must agree it sucks that now the only, good heavy medium cabs will be all legendary ones but hay, they are legendary for a reason I guess
humpback has a damage buff, so if your running cooling weapons, you can just remove a seal/ shaver and you wont be disadvantaged as much in regards to damage
if you need a co- driver and an engine to go into heavy territory, you could just use a heavy cab with no engine, and save yourself a point of energy, sure you will loose colossus perk so that kind of sucks, but other then that, you will come out on top overall
Nevermind.
I saw the changes and now spider is just one more medium cabin among many
Also, the devs must dislike ML-200 a lot.
But not all is bad news .
My Machinist received a buff.
first time for me, i’m used to be hit by the nerf bat.
Removing modules are not the way to go, relying on perks to balancing things out…i’m not a fan
co-driver and engines are always needed it.
I dont know why they are changing the steppe cab.
They give a rocket perk which spells crickets (they dont want a movement part to be bound to the cab but its ok if its just a weapon).
What would be the problem if they buffed MLs to 50 AND kept the steppe perk?
Yes, legs going 60km/h, would it hurt the game that much?
I don’t like the leg speed buff increase. They are literally the tankiest builds in the game. Do they really need that mobility more than bigrams and hovers need a real nerf? Does every ‘slow’ movement part need to either sit exactly at 50-60 with everything else being 80+? It seems to me like Targem has lost their idea of how to balance the game without trying to make everything more uniform.
Legs are very much viable if hovers and rams are nerfed. Epic wheels to a lesser extent because their durability is fucking ludicrous for their speed. The one things leg could really use is a useful perk, because nothing in this game has recoil that matters.
I don’t get the steppe spider perk change. It needed more tonnage. Why couldn’t this cab get a perk that’s leg related?
There is nothing to listen to.
This is a great change, the speed bonus should have never been added to a cabin.
Adding the speed back to the legs is a good idea.
That’s your opinion, but to answer your question, yes, yes they did need a buff. just because they buff the ml200 how does that mean they can’t mess around with hovers anymore?!
Your opinion again!
Very few people “get” the Steppe cabin perk change
That’s your opinion, but I think they should make it so ml200’s can claim easily like they used to and remove invisible walls within the maps
If it was up to me to balance the game here is what I would do.
-buff bigrams to 60 kph
-ml 200s to 70 kph (give a reason to use over bigrams)
-buff meat grinders to 85 kph
-omnis, and small track to 100kph
-hardened track to 90 kph
-armored tracks and tank track to 70 kph
-goliaths to 65 kph
leave hovers has is.
Then after these buffs change perk of golden eagle to something
And guess what icarus will still be op, only movement parts then that can outpace it would be
wheels, omnis and small track and even then it is just a tiny speed advantage with way less acceleration. Icarus
already got loads of stuff going for it just from the way it functions, it is basically porc, mine proof, fly over
lakes, ability to strafe etc, and then why not make it flip proof again, those functions would make it pretty balanced I say. Icarus don’t need nerfing everything else needs serious serious buffing and keep a fast pace game going too. Really boring driving builds that are snails and takes forever reaching objectives. For a main game mode where main objective is too cap but you can’t make it to said objectives in time is prob half reason no one caps in first place
then they can change the steppe spider perk to something like 35% increase to leg power that’s what I would do with the game and keep steppe spider base stats has is.
I don’t trust devs with any balance changes and you know that because 1 billion balance changes later and they still got to be balancing things is pure incompetence. The parts they are tweaking has been around since game came out.
All these buffs are homogenizing movement parts that aren’t hovers, wheels, or bigrams because the money isn’t behind nerfing the problematic parts like hovers, bigrams, and the new epic wheels.
ML200 never received nerfs between now and them being meta in CW. Everything that’s happened is wheel buffs, hover buffs, and ML200 with wheel mode. All these changes that don’t address powercreep serve to homogenize movement parts. Why use tracks at all with legs moving so fast while strafing? Why use tracks when all the epic wheels rival them in durability, tonnage, while smoking them in speed? Genius idea to buff and homogenize all these unique movement parts just so the best performing parts don’t get nerfed! This is dumbing the game down.
“Your opinion again!” Keep hiding behind your egalitarian platitudes of opinions.
It’s really genius.
They do it to keep everyone on a hook.
So don’t play their game. (I mean their mind games, just have fun.)
Hadron and Nova and Master cab.
This game has a combination of elements I seek out in games. However the downside to this combination is that these game types can never be balanced. To balance it they would have to restrict our creative freedom.
