Did you just do a Windows 11 update? A friend of mine got his computer totally messed up by a Windows 11 update this morning, and while researching, I came across this: Read this It’s for another game, but looks like the same error you’re getting.
Basically, you’ll need to update easy-anticheat.
1. Go to the Easy Anti-Cheat folder (within your Crossout folder)
2. Run the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe file
3. Choose the option to Repair or Install Easy Anti-Cheat
4. Restart your pc and test the game
(In my friend’s case, I had him roll back the updates, and everything was ok. He was experiencing loss of sound, programs took forever to launch, applications suddenly disappeared, was told his OS was unlicensed, and other uncalled-for nonsense.)
this was the first time i tried all the fixes listed but it didn’t work. According to the easy anticheat page something is blocking access to the resource. I reinstalled the entire Windows 11 last night. Now i can play (with the base win11) xD it was 3 hours… and now what if i never update windows?
One of the working options
I had same error. I tried as suggested, updating EAC, etc didn’t work. I suspected latest Windows 11 Update (version 24H2) screwed up EAC (because this error happens after i updated Windows). I decided to go back to previous version (23H2). PC restarting, screen went black, about 5 mins it’s done It’s working all right again. Now Im playing Crossout. I suggest to pause Windows Update (max 1 week i think), to give EAC time to patch its software to be compatible the latest Windows version. Lesson learned: don’t update Windows right away. wait at least few days.
The Problem is caused by the latest Windows 11 Security Update.
Or… let’s say it’s caused by the easy anti cheat version - but it occurs after the latest security Update.
Reverting the security update helps - but is not the solution i prefer.
Which security update specifically? I have uninstalled the last updates and one of them keeps reinstalling itself 5 minutes after I remove it… KB5055523 sec update. Whether I reboot or not, it keeps reinserting itself even with disabling updates! Windows is pissing me off with this… One more day on an event and I can’t get in to make my last choices…
I was able to get in yesterday by disabling AVG. Now that doesn’t work either.
A little research shows that windows 11 security updates are kept in “C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download”.
What I would do is, look for the KB5055523 file and temporaily move it somewhere else, way outside of the C:\Windows folder (don’t just rename it). Then, uninstall the updates again and reboot. Good luck, these kinds of problems are more than annoying and rarely convenient to remedy.
