Explosive damage needs to be fixed

It just does not work. And I hope that the absolutely lackluster efficiency of the Lucifers kicks the devs butts to do something about it finally. Rockets, missiles, most grenades excluding the Retcher, it just does not do any damage. Even if the damage number seems high at times when using explosive weaponry, the builds supposedly taking that damage do not show it in any way, when compared to doing much less damage on other guns and managing to bore holes into builds and shoot of guns and modules and structural parts for days.

It just does not work and it hasn’t worked in quite a while now. But the armor changes they did some time ago seemed to absolutely kill off all explosive weaponry, which is really weird when guns that have explosions as an added effect, autocannons, do really well. So why did they remove things like hit damage from missiles to begin with?

I think that the penetration mechanics they had to shit all over the game in a massive spray fart did something as well, explosions do not penetrate into a build in any kind of a way.

i find that hurricanes and especially pyres are quite strong… if they hit. i dont know about flutes though.
the weaponry seems all over the place to. cannons like the mastodon and the mammoth just dont seem to hit as hard as they used to. typhoons im unsure as i havent used it in a long time. but i can say that explosive damage seems alot weaker now then it used to be.

because they fucked with the explosive radius, probably in some completely insane way like once the radius does enough damage it just disappears or something

A lot of explosive weapons do 30-60% of their “explosive” damage as direct damage which is why they suck so much. Autocannons are all 100% explosive.
A lot of meta armor pieces also have 20%+ blast resistance, many have a combination of blast and bullet resist.
Also armor pieces and vehicles have gotten way bigger so they eat explosive damage a lot more effectively.

This is why the only weapons that work are the ones that excel at doing high single part damage. The only explosive weapons worth a happy jiggle are 100% blast damage weapons, or plasma cannons.
