Fixing the Flute

There’s plenty of threads about how the TOW needs to be fixed, so why not a thread for another purple rocket that is a relic of all those pre-supercharged etc updates that just does not function properly anymore, I’m gonna divide the complaints into a single post and then the suggested fix I came up with into a separate post

Flutes simply do not work in their current state, even if you slap some random fusion onto it there are none that fix the fundamental flaws in this gun, the supercharged etc update making the game much more mobile so these rockets are way too sluggish in movement and speed, and the camera fixes forcing our POV’s up the asses of our builds really gets in the way of trying to maneuver these rockets and fly them like you could before the repeated brain farts from the devs.

Shooting them into the air and then down again does not work, shooting them at a closer range does not work because on top of lacking damage it needs to use it’s perk to even be somewhat “effective” by any stretch of the road. Autocannons, machine guns and miniguns chew up any build that tries to use these at any form of range or peekaboo, Starfall and any bullet spam gun in particular are already missile supercounters, especially the starfall, you move your rocket anywhere near the path of the bullets the Starfalls perk just deletes them outright.

Even if they fixed rockets and missiles and explosive damage, these guns would still struggle due to just being build for crossout 1.0 and now we’re in 2.0 or 3.0 by now with all the brain farts that have been thrown into our faces.

How I would fix them is changing up the perk so that instead of “for each second while rockets are flying you get extra damage” to “For each second your own build is traveling while the rockets are in flight, you get extra damage”

And, I would buff it from 18% to something like 20% or possibly even 25%, and give it a hard cap like stacks 3 times max or something.

The only way these have felt any way viable is on a mobile hit and run build, that works against the original perk of the Flutes. Basically playing these like I would play a Dusk Pyre build seems way more natural and functional that trying to fly these rockets around or up into the air and then down at the enemy, you could be running the most armored build ever and it is just not a realistic way of playing in modern day crossout

Remove their lasers, entirely. No weapon is telegraphed like the flute.

Only make the laser visible to the person using them

i think Hr puff n stuff has something to say…
‘i got nerfed’

i think this would be best for the flutes.

no weapon in the game is more telegraphed then the flutes. when you fire them your painting a huge “shoot me” sign on your face. seriously as soon as those lasers come anywhere near a build, literally everyone within a 100 foot radius thats paying attention automatically knows where your at and will go after you.

heres the thing, flutes can be unique in their own right. if they took away the laser guide and either made it so the person driving the vehicle is the only one who sees it or they took away the laser sight altogether then i think it would make it really useful as a surprise weapon. hitting the enemy when they least expect it.

flutes, pyres and hurricanes already have far to many counters to them and flutes even more so. they fly slow, have a bad perk and expire after 10 seconds of flight time. they need a fix to them, something that will make people want to play them. heck id want to play them if they had some changes made to them.

Yeah Flutes used to be really fun back in the day, you could pull off some sweet shots and tricks with them

But not anymore, especially with it taking about 5 seconds each match to have a brick pushing you or a wedge wedging you and instantly stripping everything, no matter if you’re trying to stay back at range or engage the enemy, while the token cyclones and starfalls are spamming bullets from across the map causing your missiles to explode the moment they shoot out and in most cases blast the guns right off at the same time

And your own build being more in the way when trying to use these guns like they were supposed to be used, guiding them because they had to change the POV because who knows why

I remember when Flutes first came out and there were lasers all over the map. Now, I haven’t seen a single laser in months.
