They’ve added a lot of guns and parts, made lots of balance changes since I last complained about this, but the game still keeps on feeling stale. Build and gun diversity just keeps on going down, which I find weird because you’d think that was not the case with so much more added.
I also blame the players for this to some degree, 90% of the playerbase seems to just go for the current OP part and hop on to the next the moment it’s nerfed, like first it was Swarm, then Imugi, now Commit, and then whatever the next battle pass blatant OP gun is. The rest 9% seem stuck at whatever Meta/Competitive build like reaper/mammoth bricks or scorpion hovers and with 1% trying to use stuff you don’t see every match every day every week every month every year, and struggling and then joining the other stale factions of current season OP or just copy/paste Meta. Of course those are not exact numbers I’ve pulled them out of my ass, but it’s more of a general feeling of how things are.
I feel like in the past people used to Commit to guns a lot more pun intended, than nowdays. Like a gun was nerfed or buffed, people who were dedicated to using said gun used said gun none the less and tried to make it work. Or is this the end result of people addicted to the game acquiring large enough inventories that they can collectively all play the same good gun, and then not play if that gets nerfed and move over to the buffed weapon everyone and their mother seems to own, rinse and repeat.
Another obvious problem of it is just how blatantly bad bad weapons, and even normal ok medium weapons are, compared to the good and god tier weapons. I wish the gap was not as big, but many weapons just can not compete at all, with many pretty much abandoned by the developers and barely tuned up to modern day crossout, stuck in past parameters and not being able to do much anything
Well this is what happens when so many people have the mindset that they must always be at the top of the game at all costs; as if the game is a reflection of themselves, and therefore, would feel lacking if they don’t have the lastest OP build.
Alot of my builds are what some would call “lightly armored”, and I often pay the price for that in PVP matches. But who cares? My builds look cool (to me, anyway) and while I could go with the flow and turn them into heavy thick cubes armed with the latest megaweapon, what fun is that? They would just look like…everyone else’s heavy thick cube. Later for that…keep the game a game, not a job or crusade. Develop your creative side. You future employers won’t care that you’re in the top 10 clans.
With the hitscan nerf alot more builds became viable, and you can see this ingame.
But some people will always go for the new most OP build yes, you can change the game but you cant change human nature.
they nerfed the triggers because they were to good at taking down helis which i find extremely bullshit ngl. helis are hard to deal with as is and your taking away my ability to deal with them easier. shameful.
and yes, there are a ton of weapons that are made completely useless by the devs and that nobody uses. hell i was using triggers myself because they are decent and they also take down helis which i dont see people using all that often. when i ran triggers in low ps matches i rarely if ever seen anyone running triggers. only ones i ever see running them are usually bots.
i can think of tons of other weapons to that were made completely useless as well. i dont see a whole lot of people running anything but the meta. hell back then all you ever seen were shitty copy and paste shotgun builds and they were so irritating to deal with in pvp. if anyone tried running a different weapon youd have those rabid shotgunners foaming at the mouth running at you like you were an all you can eat buffet. im not surprised that people dont run what they want anymore cause theres always some asshats out there who ruin the fun for them. sure you have counters to your weapons but if someone can close the distance and shoot your gun off before you even get a second shot off then wheres the fun in that? alot of reload weapons are at a disadvantage in this game and with hitscan essentially gone from most weapons people are trying to figure out the new meta now. i still think its a waste of time though.
the game seems to be more varied now since you dont see rabid shotgunners trying to wedge you and whatnot but now you got these battlewalkers constantly running into people and pushing them around everywhere which makes team work quite a bit more frustrating.
