You’ve got me pondering other counters.
Are the low PS melee bricks usually on wheels?
I wonder if some tempuras might work, although they’re kind of melee themselves. I do know they’ll melt off borers in a single shot, and at that PS can often penetrate enough to pop generators and liquify frames.
But they are hard to use.

Ya they were. I think the new META down there (I haven’t been playing much lately) has gone to Goblin-Auger-Huggin, though.
For me anything hella fast was a good counter to melee bricks, and that is still pretty good against the Goblin-Auger thing too.
But when it comes to a team of them, I think you’re right about the launchable drone thing. That really is tough to counter with any heavy build. Even when I’m quick, unless I’m sporting a cloak (which isn’t very often), it’s hard to catch those guys…but when I do…
I’ve been thinking about Tempuras for a while now, and I’ve yet to fiddle with those hardly at all. I’ve got some good work-pieces for them too.
I think that’ll be my next project; Tempuras. Since they nerfed Boom-sticks and Lancelots, now is probably the right time to look at those again.
