Hard to understand some special abbreviations and colloquialisms

Not the country as a whole, only against the government.

We believe in freedoms that the Chinese government doesn’t allow its citizens, which partially explains it.

Not illegal, I’ve read the law about this here. We are not like North Korea which is not connected to the Internet. Our law do not ban us from visiting foreign websites. What is illegal is that you use an illegal channel to access to the internet abroad.(e.g. You drag an optical fiber and cross the boundary, connecting it to other country without admission. That is illegal.)However, the network booster company has the legal channel.(legal because it has been registered and it is under supervision.)
It has been ages since the firewall was set up.As we all see, there are more and more Chinese getting through it.That may be because the tech has developed so fast and the wall cannot stop everything.

You are right, it does have disadvantages. It partially can be compensated by mass media and someone gets over the wall. They would upload what they see outside and spread it inside. However you seldom see news against our country on mass media, and the information carried inside by person may also not true.So it need critical thinking. You can choose to accept what others say or seek the truth yourself.

I don’t want to argue with anyone.
I said these things above just because someone had asked. If you don’t agree, you can just keep your opinion, I don’t mind it.

You guys may find it hard to understand something i said. That’s just China. Most Chinese won’t think there’s anything wrong with the firewall.(that may be the thought control you said)

I also wonder that whether the firewall is one-sided or not.Can foreigners visit Chinese Internet directly?

"Comon Brother dont you know Chinese ?? why dont you just tell me in chinese?? "

He did not sincerely believe that you were Chinese AI. He was simply being rude. He would serve himself better by devoting himself to the study of the wise words of Chairman Mao, who said, “Non-antagonistic relations between people make for a stronger community.”

Sounds nice, but…how many people did Chairman Mao have killed?

According to Wikipedia: “Mao is considered one of the most significant figures of the 20th century. His policies were responsible for a vast number of deaths, with estimates ranging from 40 to 80 million victims of starvation, persecution, prison labour, and mass executions, and his regime has been described as totalitarian.”

Thank you for this post with which i totally agree based on its high relevance today and factual accuracy.

And holy crap, this thread is back alive!! Or was it never gone and i just fell for the canadian trumpers post?!

You dont have to argue with anyone. On the other hand you dont get to choose what others say here neither. This forum is freedom, thats why i asked you before whether you can handle it.

I will speak my mind uncensored and wont hold back simply because you dont care. There is a mute feature which is available to you at all times.

I invite you to make use of this freedom just as you please. Come join us, its fun!

The facts you know about mao are not the full truth. Some of his ideas and actions were bad enough to generally call him a bad person, speaking very diplomatically. I wrote what i know about him in another thread and will copy paste this here if im inquired to do so.

I do however respect you and the chinese people. It would be interesting to exchange our world views if you like to do so.
