Hit-scan removal is the biggest lie of Crossout ever been repeated, and Targem fell right into it

I agree that hovers were the premier issue, but they weren’t last time with arbiters and nothungs. They are still way more powerful than everything but wheels and augers, but I hate seeing more nerfs as other movement parts suck. I’m always going to have a problem with some guy plinking my entire teams guns off including mine with almost no effort. He just has to put his aim directly on my guns, meanwhile I’ve gotta account for my gun turn speed, chargeup, ballistics, parallax, and even my oversized projectile hitboxes just so my shots don’t hit his cab roof because I aimed at his guns. Robocraft had this issue too with Railguns being hitscan, we were utterly annihilating enemy plasma bombers because we could just click on them to delete them. That game had aim parallax too.

Players love to rage when something is buffed of nerfed. Too bad the old forums don’t exist so I can’t pull posts from the terrible hover scorp meta, terrible dog wedge meta, terrible cannon spider meta, terrible omamori minigun meta, terr… you get the point. The devs change things to keep the game fresh and removing hitscan and adding ammo to everything was a step in that direction. Some people love it, some hate it but I don’t think that’s the reason the game is not as popular as before. The decline is steady since a long time… it’s an old game with niche mechanic. The game also always suffered from not being very accessible. A simple example : fusions. The fact that you can get a straight boost while keeping the same PS mean that on top of not knowing the game well (and thus not building well or using bad builds), new players will have factually worse pieces to play with than old ones even at low PS. When I played with friends I wanted to show the game to I realized the time it takes to have a basic build. If you are not happy playing with cyan pieces you will leave before you have grinded enough for full purple.

To return to hitscan : I will defend the devs for this one. Hitscan is a pain to balance. Hitscan weapons had ridiculously low range and damage to compensate for the fact that they do unavoidable damages. In this game degunning is a perfectly viable strategy and some weapon have stupidely low HP (thanks to the devs a few of them got a buff in that regard in last patch). A hitscan mean you WILL lose that weapon with 0 counterplay if you opponent can aim. Now at least you can try to feint or dodge.
Without hitscan weapons can have reasonable range and not vanish in mid-air and do more damage because they wont auto strip weapons.

I spent a lot of yesterday playing MGs and SGs, and now that they’ve increased the SG projectile size I’m not having problems with either of them.

If anything, MGs feel a bit more useful now with the longer range (would be nice if they increased SG range a bit).

Hitscan was never pinpoint accuracy anyway, because there was always a spread mechanism.

Yes, neither weapon is dominant right now, and both types could probably use some slight buffs, but they really don’t seem significantly worse from losing hitscan (once you get used to the change).

Absolutely correct and I fully agree.

Also, reddit “drama” should keep off the forum.
