MGs are not a specialized build at all. They’re arguably more versatile than shotguns.
MGs have always been the weapon I turn to when I want an “easy-mode” build that will work decently no matter what the situation is.
And we just came out of a long period where MGs were even more dominant than shotguns currently are.
Why would you describe them like they’re some niche weapon?

If I ever got back into CW I think I would focus on spiders. I’ve always found them dependable in high PS. And I’ve also found them to be the best way for me to counter dogs, as I’ve never spent enough time playing hovers to be very adept at them.
im PC player so we do not have working aim assist here (well unless someone plug pad to pc)
and cam track is for hovers, on spider you usually no need it. i use mainly ctrl/space (for people q/e) to rotate.
Spiders need more love from Devs(ofc after tracks/etc lol). We feel like only 5-10% clans are spiders.
For a very short moment Gerrida was as good as hovers, but they killed it. its now just weaker hover.
Also legs have one terrible BUG there. - Devs do not fix it for ages now.
Try build HVY Bigram Spider, add 1 ML leg to it.
Go custom Fortress map. try go cap point from spawn
Compare leg mode vs wheel mode on bigram. 50 max-speed for both because 1 ml leg.
Our last test was SAME spider, just wheel mode was 15 sec to go point, while leg mode 25 sec. (with 50 cap speed because of 1 ml ofc)
It only show leg BUG problem with moving on any little slopes.
Also it show 50 in speed-meter while its like 30 or less for leg mode, in wheel mode speed-meter show correctly. The more HVY spider the more problem with this. I feel like dev code think its wall that spider want climb lol.
This also very often affect fighting this bricks, because spider rotate/react slower on slopes.
Figured id chime in on this thread while I’m here. I might of mentioned it before but just use oculus on every single build no matter what, also if you got spare energy bring a doppler. All the bricks use cloak so that is one power you can take away from them for only 1 energy while it cost them 3 if they are using yeti which they probably are. When you see the the transparent circle on the map then mark that spot where they are too so your team is aware and do it a few times not just once so that way you can make sure that they get the message that danger is approaching.
Aim assist aims for cab…so not really helpful with most of the popular weapons. It is typically more effective and efficient to strip builds, not cab them.
I dont think anyone has cared about aim assist in a few years. The assistance in flying hovers is real but it hurts spiders. Even with, most arent great with hovers. Those that are great were mostly great before the change.
If those are your two big complaints, you are depriving yourself over very small things.
Overall, I things legs are fine. They are used often in top ten on consoles. Your point about slopes is legit, though. Aint nobody fooled by that dumb speedometer.
Gerridas should get their speed back. The other nerfs were sufficient. MLs should be 5 faster than bigrams, not slower.
If they keep legendary engines at 2 energy, give hovers back their speed as well.

this is more of an assassin type build, but needs the driver to “know their sh**t”…and i’m bad w both hover driving or sniper shooting…lol
this is an awesome (imo) weapon platform, as it works with any weapon config
the cab perk does not activate untill you DO Damage to an enemy, but the invis module still recharges, soo, with some good pacing you can have almost perma Ghost perk on…
if anyone has the required stuff, do make it and let me know how it was
