I know there’s been other parts with this issue, but I painted my impeller and the test drive removed my paint. I went back to build mode to confirm I painted it and it was in fact painted. When will they fix paint? 
The impellors are covered with an anti-graffiti coating, that’s why the paint is not sticking. That’s the only sensible possibility.
