Ingame mods drawn from the player community, Bad idea

I think drawing ingame moderators from the playerbase was a bad idea, Because there is a chance of bias decisions, because pre modding, these folk had already long established friendships, which makes them susceptible to bias

Pwettty please make me a mod so I can temp ban afk farmers and aimbotters. “BuT hOw Do YoU kNoW tHeYrE aImBoTtInG?”. Destructor helicopters vs my tengus, that’s how. I know I’ve gotten at least two banned via reports. But seriously tho devs couldn’t be bothered to handle reports themselves and I don’t blame them, just looked at “crossout cheaters” videos on YT and outta the 10 I saw only 1 was a cheater, and that was an afk plastic farmer. You’ve gotta have the person in questions literal perspective to tell, some players are just good. I highly doubt someone who becomes trusted as a mod is just gunna Willy nilly ban competing players, because the mods are moderated by the devs. Pyramid and all that.

you’re not entirely wrong, but not for the right reasons.

The more accurate reason is that, they will tend to power-trip banning people for profanity out of pure spite. Yes. you heard that right.

I’m leaning to pure spite because there was conspiracy theories about “mods get passive rewards in terms of coins for banning a set quota of people per month” but I have no proof, even when it kind of make sense when you realize how inconsistent your profanity ban can be: sometimes you get a verbal warning, other times you just don’t. I already ate 2 chat bans with absolutely no prior warning whatsoever.

And unfortunately, I vividly remember one of the ex-GMs told me that they only have the right to chat-ban, while other much more severe offense such as swastikas, lewd usernames, call-out spammer and map-ping spammers will continue to run rampant unchecked, because only devs have the admin power to hand out account bans.

I have beef to pick with current modding team solely for the profanity bans, for just one reason:

PROFANITY FILTERS EXISTS, AND THERE ARE NO VISIBLE OPTIONS IN THE SETTINGS TO DISABLE IT.

That’s right, the only way to turn off profanity filters is to type a command (which I will not reveal here) in the chat to disable it. And the last time I checked, it’s working fine for every known profanity vocabularies.

If anything, the only time mods should be handing out chat bans is when someone tried to bypass it by mispelling it on purpose, which, I would say those actually deserves an instant chat ban with no prior warning.

you sure about that?
i think the devs might care because of only one reason, the competing player dumping their wallets into the game for relics. it shouldnt excuse players, even if they are competing competitively, for bad sportsmanship and unruly behavior towards others. spamming racist words in the general chat should be a chat ban and anyone cheating outright should be a permanent ban altogether regardless of weather or not they are competing players.
from what i seen the mods in the general chat arent professional at all. i really think the mods need to be restructured and gotten newer mods in there.
