Is the Beholder cabin garbage?

I only mention this because I’ve had on sitting in my storage gathering dust since it came out and only ever used it on 1 (quite unsuccessful build). Has the mk1 chameleon cloak built in, which at the PS where you use a legendary cabin you would always use the MK2 which is far better. The built in cloak also doesn’t benefit from the Cheetah engine, so that 23s cooldown is permanent, making it actually far worse than the mk1 cloak.

The perk is useless. That 2s delay makes zero difference.

Potential fixes:

Built in MK2 instead of MK1 chameleon and is boosted by the cheetah engine. Ditch the additional perk.

Keep the mk1 cloak but is also boosted by the cheetah engine. And if running an additional cloak the perk becomes either:

De-cloaking delay goes up from 2s to 6s after receiving damage. (this keeps the chameleons in play for it’s duration and doesn’t overly buff the Yeti

De-cloaking delay after firing/dealing damage instead of receiving damage.

Boost to damage/penetration/explosion radius after de-cloaking.

Boost to Resistance after de-cloaking/while cloaked

Boost to power/speed while cloaked

Completely invisible while cloaked (no shimmer/wheel tracks ect, purely cloaked)

this game isn’t in for Fixes, ‘Nerfs’ on the another hand

a perk that gives you free built in invisibility and a big decloak delay if you have chameleon is strong enough

I used to use it a lot. It’s fast, the built in cloak saves a couple energy points, and it can carry a decent amount of mass.

The only reason I don’t use it much now is that I have newer cabins that are more exciting. Not that the new ones are better, just newer.

I thought that’s what the Ghost cabin was for. Not any more.

The ghost never gave a free cloak, the perk is just based on having one.

My complaint is mainly this, the built in cloak is so bad you really need a chameleon mk2 on the Beholder to make it worthwhile, so in reality it’s just a worse version of the ghost.

What? Ghost never had a built in cloak. Only a damage boost after cloaking.

I’m not as dependent on cloak as some people, so for me that built in cloak is more than enough. I almost never augment it with a separate one.
But that energy savings allows me to use lower tier generators, or go without a generator, or use more modules/weapons.
With Yeti, there’s not so much need for the extra long cloak that Beholder allowed, and most builds that need a long cloak have other cabins that make more sense to use for their damage boosts.

It is one of the better cabins in the game imo, it has nice speed power tonnage etc stats, looks cool, easy shape to build with, and the perk is pretty handy. Even more so on builds that normally could not run a cloak, because besides trying to sneak up on enemies cloaking is so versatile, you can break drone/bot/homing weapons aim on you, avoid mines, avoid kapkan, you can disappear for a few seconds on the minimap and for example make awaiting enemies waste their shots as you go invis and stop moving, said enemies trying to hit you under the assumption you were still driving forward, and you can do fake-outs while escaping enemies, like round a corner, hit stealth, come to a full stop, start moving as the enemies fly past you and might not be able to turn around and so on you get the idea

And the not instantly becoming visible when receiving damage is very helpful too, making enemies miss their shots, or giving you enough time to go past a group of enemies even if you bumped a little into one as you’re trying to go for a sniper/artillery build hanging around in the back. It pretty much makes Chameleon 2 be able to compete with Yeti and Rune etc pay2stealth nonsense (not be better, but at least be able to be viable)

There are a lot more legendary cabins I would call garbage before saying the beholder is garbage. People not seeing the value in 2 seconds of free invisibility need to stop thinking of invisibility=sneaking up on an enemy, and more on breaking aims, avoiding mines and drones, doing little fake-outs when being pursued and so on

i use it on a heli build and it works… decently…?
the cabin itself gives a cloaking time similar to the mk1 chameleon but if you have a chameleon mk 1 or 2 it boosts the effect of them. i believe it makes them last slightly longer and gives them the ability to turn visible after 2 seconds of being hit. not really that big of a bonus. i mean in pvp i could see it working but pve its completely useless as the bots dont ever lose aggro off you.
as for the yeti i am unsure how those two interact, i dont know what it boosts on the yeti, if it does boost anything. testing would need to be done. i only use it on my heli cause i suck at making helis so… yeah…

also the ghosts ability only boosts damage after being in cloak for a period of time, it doesnt grant any kind of invisibility perks except the damage boost.

Its a good cab that was a staple for hovers for a bit, but was powercrept out from meta.

ghost is used w yeti…for a perk charger w benefits…

Nope definitely doesn’t do this.

Hmm, I wonder where I got that from. That’s the only reason I got it. That’s just another cab collecting dust anyway.

I have a power/mass fused, my favorit medium cabin tbo. Has better states than most of the medium cabs.

Its good for levi CWs. If you put the mk2 on a rift, you can pop the rift and immediately recloak, saving you from guaranteed death fairly consistently. The delay on the decloak with the perk can also buy you enough time to get out of its autolockon as well. But like poony said, its raw stats are above average as well.

Quite a neat trick
