The trick is to run as many high rarity modules as you can.

its such a fun. Try it. 
I sold mine the day before the update; it was fused for turning and speed, and yes it was fun. However, I only used it in bedlam as a novelty weapon, since it was useless without a twin in real combat, and doesn’t really pair well with any other weapons.
The anticipated updates to it completely killed it for me, most notably the increased energy requirement, which forced me to scrap the build it was mounted on (a snazzy hover build with boosters and other surprises). I couldn’t justify keeping it, knowing I’d never get to enjoy it again, so I guess I did the right thing by dumping it.
I think you may have done the wrong thing actually: it might not work on your old build, but it is now a lot more powerful and viable.
The trick is to load up on high rarity modules. It can easily do more than 1000 damage per shot now, depending on what modules and cabin you are using.
How do you sell a fused weapon?
You can’t; you salvage it and sell the resources.
you could just wait for an unfusion event and get rid of the fusion that way then sell it.
