And possibly Wasps/Pyralids. No I’m not asking to make them turreting, but they need more upwards aiming. Newer and updated maps are so bumpy that you can’t really hit anything because of how along the terrain surface these guns work with any builds.
Back when these were good, but mostly on hovers, and when mounted high up sideways, it was because you could make up for the bad upwards aiming angle of the gun with the sideways aiming angles. But then they “updated” the physical model and these gun fell into obscurity.
The main problem with the natural aiming angles, or lack of, in this gun is mostly the fact that they can’t aim up, at all. So you’d imagine that they’d be able to aim forward then? Nope, any slight, and I do mean even the slightest, bump in terrain throws your aim off and you basically can aim about 2-5 meters in front of your own build, forward, towards the ground.
Like Hover builds for example where you imagine such a problem won’t happen, nope if you drive forward no matter how much you try to aim up your guns are pretty much pointing at the ground in front of you, rather than straight forward. If you come to a halt, your guns do that annoying bopping up and down along the build a few times before aiming again thing. This happens on all platforms, wheels, legs, hovers and so on. No matter what platform you put these weapons onto, you can’t shoot “straight forward” like you are supposed to (take into consideration projectile drop as well) and these things are practically a meelee weapon these days.
Mounting them normally gives them so little upwards movement that you can’t hit things even at medium range in front of you unless you’re almost perfectly stationary (not moving forward or backwards at all) and both you and your enemy are on almost completely flat terrain. Mounting them sideways simply does not work, if you are running 3 while 2 are aiming where you want, one of them has not enough movement to aim properly and shoots off to a random direction. Spacing them out while still sideways needs so much space between the guns, that once again one or two of your guns simply can’t aim where you’re aiming because of limited aiming angles.
The aiming angles need to be looked into and readjusted for modern day crossout, so maybe this gun could shoot past 10 meters in front of itself without needing tilted mandrake levels of build tilting just to get past the awkward aiming angles.
On top of all that, they’re really frail weapons, meant to be somewhat “hidden” in a build, but you can’t hide them, even when they’re perfectly exposed, right on top of a build, you still can’t aim up. It’s like they’re permastuck into pointing downwards rather than straight forward no matter what you do.
I am not asking them to hit Helis out of air, but it would be cool to be able to actually drive forward and shoot past 5 meters while doing it
