I just got the Jeers container and don’t know whether I should select a taunt or not. I’m not the type who rubs sh!t in people’s faces, so I’m not sure I’m all for this. Are the taunts shown to a player you kill automatically, or do you have to expressly press a button to show the taunt to the guy you killed? 
They show automatically when you kill someone, it hovers above your name badge. I equipped mine because I like watching the world burn but you do you.

At this point it’s not rubbing shit in people’s faces as you say, there’s so many people with them, that’s just rubbing some shit back to them.
And the taunts are so generalist they are kinda of meh
Just go for it, I have yet to feel annoyed by them / ran into anyone getting annoyed by these things, they’re pretty ignorable even if people have them turned on, half of the time I don’t even remember to read it or see this message because I am too busy looking at the kill cam of the build instead.
A lot more happening on the screen to pay any attention to than some cringey short message popping up for a split second on the bottom of the screen
