Network Experts?

Ok, here’s my story.

Earlier this year I updated to Windows 10 and in the process, changed alot of my wifi network options as well to get the best possible (fastest) connection. Everything worked great; and when I used to connect to the internet, I’d see my network listed as well as all of my neighbors networks, and would just connect to mine (of course). I found a way to hide all the other wifi networks so just mine shows up (but don’t remember how I did that).

Recently, I just bought a wifi extender since my router is 2 floors upstairs. I wanted to add a booster/extender, since I periodically get dropoffs/disconnects. (I attempted to switch to a hard-wired connection by drilling holes in walls to drop a cable down to my pc, but my house walls are uncooperative.) So, I’ll stick with a wifi connection.

I plugged the wifi extender in, but since I did something that only lets me see my own wifi network from my router, I can’t see the extender on the network and connect to it. I’ve searched for ways to unhide all available wifi networks in my area, but can’t undo what I did. I’m not sure how I did it either, and the NETSH command hasn’t been helpful.

Can anyone offer any tips I could try?

wifi is bad for health and internet speed, turn it off and use cables.

It’s not bad for your health. And Snit said he can’t use cables.

It might be somewhere buried deep in Wi-Fi settings. I’m not the most tech-savvy, so the most I could suggest is to check everything relating to Wi-Fi visibility.

If you say so

5G isn’t Wi-Fi. It’s cell service. Could be solved with a simple google search.

And last time I checked, humans aren’t plants.

So the 2.4 GHz option on wifi modems is for internet and the 5 GHz option is for cell service?

Okay, I remember having a really obscure issue and thinking that I was the first. I couldn’t get Minecraft to work with my brother’s PC using my LAN (Local Area Network). I searched for a while and came across an old MC Forums post by a deleted user from many years ago (sounds like most solutions to these problems lol, usually it’s reddit though… anyway…). It told me to go into the window’s settings (in the bottom left corner or windows button, search settings in there). Then in the new settings window, search “Firewall” and click “Allow an app through Windows Firewall”. It SHOULD bring up a new window, with a series of apps on the left column and check boxes on the right. then I located the correct box and checked it. I bring this up because upon searching in there again, I saw my router in there, and wondered if any of these checkboxes could be the issue. Make sure the “private” checkbox has the little checkmark in the row with your router/router extension thingy.

In summary: Windows, settings, search “Firewall”, click “Allow an app through…”, find router stuffs, click the checkbox.

I’m not sure if this is the issue or not but I hope you get it to work!!

Nothing is good for you nowadays, just some of it is better than others.

Besides, that internet has to get to you somehow…

so far there isnt any research that confirms 5g is bad for you more than any other natural radiation
