In light of the Golden Eagle scare, I was playing with the engines I have to see which ones boost track speeds. Using Goliaths, I swapped engines in and out to note the speed boosts received.
I have 9 engines. The test model consisted of a frame, Volt cabin, Goliaths, and an engine. Goliaths have a base speed of 60.
Engine/New Track Speed
Golden Eagle - 63
Pegasus - 64
Collossus - 62
Hot red - 63
Razorback - 61
Hardcore - 62
The Cheetah, Dunhorse, and Fin Whale did NOT boost track speeds.
Takeway: In my opinion, overall, the speed boost of any engine used with tracks is marginally useful. The Golden Eagle should have received no new perks, but instead shoulda boosted track speeds by 10% to make it worthwhile.
If anyone can add new track speed results for engines not listed above, that would be helpful, so I know what to get in the future!
they say which ones boost the movement parts with limited speed in the update.
Yes, but if I remember correctly, only the golden eagle ever had any effect on speed boosts for tracks (but I could be wrong).

You are right.
Now we can boost track speed higher, and also boost legs and hovers.
Very curious how this will play out.
It was all tracks, augers and rolling based movement parts (Atom + Omni)
In reality they are all now WORSE than they were with the old GE (+10kph)
It’s been so long I can’t even remember what this update was supposed to achieve, first glance is it’s failed to do it. (maybe it’s closed the gap between wheels and every other movement parts speed buy a gnats cock but that’s it.)

You can use other engines to boost the top speed of those parts now though, so you should still be able to get a similar top speed as before.
GE was a bad engine for augers and tracks btw

Elaborating:
Oyabun gives you an INSANELY good perk that makes you push any wheeled build with ease.
Pegasus is a musthave if you want to get your builds to high HP and colossus was slightly worse but made your augers/tracks live for much longer.
The only engines (excluding the cyan rarity ones) that were worse than GE are hotred (literally outclassed by oyabun + no perk synergy) and cheetah (perk isn’t useful for any meta auger or tracked build).
Tracks and omnis/atoms are trash in general (because they’re outclassed by hovers, spiders and augers) and augers don’t typically use GE unless it’s some non-meta build that’s “just enough for PvP”
Only on omni and the small tracks will you get similar results. Think about it, 10kph is 10% at 100, small track only allows 95kph so will still be down even with the best engine.
So legendries are better than epics and epics are better than specials?
Man that’s a relief, I for one am really glad you’re here to tell us these things.

You’ve completely missed the point.
GE is bad because everything that it boosts could benefit more from any other engine. Cyan rarity doesn’t have perks unless there’s a rare predecessor of this part (and since there are no rare engines, then cyan engines doesn’t have any perks).
Even if GE was a legendary engine and gave +20 kph it still will be outclassed by almost any engine.
We’re only discussing speed changes…
I really hope that you’re trolling.
Once again.
GE with its +10 kph bonus is getting outclassed by almost every single engine.
All non-GE builds recieved 2-7 kph extra while retaining their more useful engine perks.
You haven’t lost anything unless you were using an inferior engine in the first place.
GE is not delivering +10kph to anything that I can see.
If you relied on GE in the first place then it’s skill issue

Golden Eagle has always sucked as an engine. Other engines are far more useful than GE’s old +10kmh perk. At best they get +30% weapon durability with 2 movement parts. Thats a pretty bad tradeoff considering GE users are hardcapped at 70 or so kmh. Augers are not remotely worth using in pairs and armored/tank tracks are extremely weak and powerscore intensive anyway.

Yup.
Spoiler
These are CW augers that we face every single CW session multiple times. And also, the gameplay loop of augers doesn’t really require speed, so… Yeah. It’s worthless.
Any movement part that was boosted by GE (tracks/augers/omni/atoms) sucks when used in pair, can confirm. This change is purely for the “accept the lowskill-copters and headless hens as an integral part of the game, because we skipped the gamedesign 101 and think that scrapping something is bad” agenda lol
At high PS and in CW, I completely agree that Golden Eagle was not the best choice previously.
But in CC and mid-PS PvP, I often found the speed boost essential for many of my auger builds.
With dual auger builds in that PS range, mobility is really important. And the legendary engines raised my PS too much for auger builds, meaning that I couldn’t take advantage of the mass limit increases some of them provide.
The best tool for no-limit PS is rarely the best tool for limited PS.
The new perk is also something that will be much more useful in the CC range, as that’s the only place that dual auger builds are competitive.

We used augers on 9k BfU and 11k BfU, these 10 kph were useless. We used oyabun for extra power and to save 2 energy (and a better generator) to further improve our cab HP. Because, you know, less PS on modules means more PS on the structure parts.
Basically if someone used GE, then i’m 90% sure they don’t know what they’re doing

11k BfU is a totally different story than 9k.
At 9k, I will sometimes use a zero energy engine for all the reasons you list, but at least half the time Golden Eagle worked better for me.
Having said that, the types of auger builds that I play at 9k are generally more about close range, which is why I sometimes preferred that speed boost.
You’re obviously a much more competitive player than me, but I also get the sense that you play a lot more CW than CC.
This engine is too new for me to have used much yet, but it does excel at pushing, so it’s also a good option for close range auger builds.
With the new engine system I will probably be using it more on those types of builds. So far I’ve been using it more with wheels, but it’s pretty versatile.
Edit: what kinds of 9k auger builds are you talking about? At that PS, I’m more likely to be using light or medium cabins, so the mass limit increase was part of why I used Golden Eagle a lot. And faster cabins can make better use of the speed limit increase.
