New next step missions, your opinion

If we blasé over the helis and walkers
I like very much the mechanics of this mode, it’s much more familiar to me than the normal PVP in crossout.
each team fight to reach 15 points, after that the game ends
And the devs took away the freaking caps and add respawns.

This means we can keep going at it, be aggressive, so they took a step further in relation to the games i used to play.
General speaking making smaller teams 6 vs 6 vs 8 vs 8 it turned the game better, i think it gives a different dynamic, a different experience, overall teams tends to stick more together and often the first team that falls apart as a unity loses.
The canisters are ok, nor here or there…

But the changes they are about to implement…i’m not so sure.
We will be able to collect several canisters or one canisters but we will have to go to base to collect the points.
This will break the engagements, and slow the dynamic of a match, it will break the teams.
There were times were i got killed, respawned, collect my own canister and re-join the fight in time to be useful.
Things are not as dandy as they were at the beginning of this mode, they are more helis per match, that caused a percentage of people that quits right away and i lost and won games by a point or two because of them.
I think they should keep as it is now.
I’m not seeing me breaking an engagement cause of the freaking canisters

Apparently the idea is to alternate between the mode we have and this new one.
I kind of like the idea of the new one, because it won’t feel as much like a big mosh pit like the current one does. Some matches, everyone on both teams just repeatedly charge into middle and throw themselves at each other. Sure, that’s kind of fun, but gets repetitive if it happens too much. This should be a bit more tactical, and allow for other approaches.

we have the classic mode, i also play it specially if the MM is particular one sided in one mode or either mode.
( next step it’s also great if you are making a push for rewards, i mean if you blunder big time in Next step mode you get 32/33 scrap reward and 15/16 wires. in the classic mode you get what for a MVP, 20/22 scrap, 11 wires. a MVP in the next step gets you 59/60 scrap, so there’s that.)

One thing i noticed about myself playing classic mode i’m a lot more hasty now, often i only start late , i try to go with the flow, be in the middle of the pack as a measure to counter myself and the ones i get to kill or i’m trying to kill i always go there to collect the canister.
It’s much more slow gameplay less intense.
I’m always second guessing myself, am i being being too precipitate? better to slow down, in the end my impatience takes over. but i do have less fun overall.
In the next step it’s more go, go, go, i can hug, ram at my heart’s content, or be sneaky taking advantage of a heli player focused in some target while i’m right beneath him chip him away.
Mosh pits or pitch battles are what enjoy the most about them.
Of course there’s good games and bad games in either of the modes.
But above all, i feel that devs are trying to end this. which it’s a shame.
Years of slow gameplay seeing your team behind an island, a rock miles away from a objective, and then this mosh pits and pitch battles, oh yeah.

It sucks. You detonate on bots and when you win a fight they just respawn and try attacking you because you’re weak… it’s a joke and will always be a joke.

i feel this new mode is going to be very rage inducing.

think about it like this, if a heli decides to come in they can just fly down, sweep up a bunch of orbs and then just fly back to their base. someone targets you? you have invisibility to cloak yourself and not be targeted anymore. or you can just run a yeti, wait till your team kills a few people then go invisible, swoop in and take them back to your base. then just sd at the base to reset your yeti and there you go.
this mode just screams helis. this mode doesnt need helis in it, just have ground units. hell id be happy if this just came into the classic mode instead.
its a capture the flag type of mode but whats the fucken point if someone comes in inside a heli and just bypasses everything?
i hear people say “helis cant pick up orbs that well” hey morons, have you seen people flying or are you that blind? YES they can maneuver themselves to pick up orbs that effectively! so whats stopping them from doing that in the new mode? its just going to be a matter of slapping a cloak on, waiting a bit, swooping in while invisible then run back to the base like your ass is on fire, deposit, sd, come back, rinse and repeat.

Yes, i see what you mean, but what’s the point, then?
It will be extra crispy boring.
At the beginning ( and i started late ) there weren’t as many helis as there are now, we could ignore them and have a good time.
There are plenty of games with 3 or 4 helis in one side but not all 3 or 4 helis in one side games turn to be bad ( it depends of lots of things) in some you can get a lot of them down, even if you don’t have air superiority and there are a good chunk of those some that you could win if the team didn’t had quitters.
Walkers i don’t think that much of them, the majority aren’t that different from what we face in the classic mode.

And that’s my reservations
This changes , will force people to go to a cap to cash in whatever canisters they pick up much more often than today, today people tend to retire from the front lines to go die and to make it more difficult to the other team win a point, that doesn’t break the pace, this changes will break the pace.

If helis are so great, why aren’t you flying one?

I play a lot more Next Step than you do, and most of the time the aircraft aren’t that big of a threat. Sometimes you get a highly skilled squad of them, but that is definitely not the norm in this mode.

But if they do become more relevant in this new variation, I’ll just build some anti-aircraft vehicles. I don’t love piloting flying vehicles myself, but I do it often enough to know how to counter them reasonably well.

Personally, I’m probably going to experiment with some booster/Cockpit builds. Probably with some melee and a yeti. But depending on how players respond to the mode, I might focus on guarding our base and capsules with something slower and more tanky.

No point in getting too worked up about it until it goes live. Doesn’t sound like it’s replacing the original mode, so you can always just wait for that to rotate in if you end up hating the new mode as much as you predict.

lets have super powers just like every game has now a days lol

1 life.
Infinite respawns is just cheap.

how so? if someone happens to get knocked out in 1 hit then they have more chances. if they get knocked out with 1 life then they wasted their time. i think infinite lives is better.

like battlewalkers i dont like them very much, i cant be bothered to build one. the one i got i modified from a build on the exhibition and used that as an incinerator build. also i dont really like the controls nor do i like how heavily the bots focus on helis. so i have no need to make one.

they are rather irritating when your running a close up build like shotguns. though i have shot down a few with fortunes.

its to bad we dont have many AA guns. sure we got the starfall and the autocannons but good luck hitting helis with them. anytime i used them they sucked major ass against helis.

Anyone played it yet?

yes, the points counts slower, there’s a new symbol beneath the points.

Did a couple of games, i didn’t noticed nothing strange other than in the middle of the pitch battle when and when my team is wining i find myself alone.
Where is everyone?
probably back to base to collect the points.

At the end of the battles i did today wining or losing i didn’t go once to the base to collect the points and i got the points all the same, canisters harvested kills, everything.

So i might not go to base since everyone else is going there.

Fuck these stupid mechs and helis that they keep shoving down our throats. Notice how missions are 2nd down from the top called classic? I’m not accepting this forced standardization of mechs and helis, this is not Crossout. This will kill the game.
