Spent some time playing Next Step, and I’m pretty impressed with the new mode. I think they should get rid of the old one completely and just have the new one.
First time it came up my team stayed grouped up close to our base and took an early lead. Then, as soon as the enemy scored a couple points, me and another player with a fast car focused on stealing their capsules from their base and bringing them back to ours.
The new mode makes team play more important, and allows for a much wider variety of build and playing approaches.
Slower builds have a role defending the base, fast close ranges ones are still strong at kills and grabbing capsules, aircraft are useful but not dominating, and mid-range DPS is also important for holding the line.
Anyone else enjoying the new format?
I really enjoy how wheeled vehicles have more power in this mode. Does anyone know what other parameters are different in Next Step from normal PVP?
i dont know what the new gamemode is but they should definitely ditch the existing next step forever

Only yesterday or so i found out ( jbrider vid ) that i could steal the canisters and that’s awesome ( not for stealing per say ) because even in the new next step i can have my pitch battles if the team remains near the thing, they will have to pass through us.
Some helis just murder the rest but as long they keep the rewards like they are it pays off even in a lost game, if they don’t keep it the rewards as is, then the classic mode it’s still relevant.
It’s more exciting and fast paced…more brutal and we can be relentless.
Oh…I’m not finding the types of builds i used to find at the classic mode ( melee builds ), they are a rarity in this mode…which is not a good thing cause my current builds are made for facing this type of builds ( cannons, fire, melee ).
I’m thinking in redesign or make a new one to counter helis specifically

No, I can’t stand the new Next Step mode. I prefer the old version a lot better. The new version feels like it takes too long. I’ve played it a few times and nobody has ever made it to ten points before the timer runs out.
Weird, my experience was the opposite, but maybe I was just lucky to be playing on teams that understood the new rules.
We hit the 10 points quickly, although I wonder if that was because I was stealing all the enemy capsules from their base. It’s an effective strategy!

have you noticed the rewards?
if you get 200 points you get 30 something scrap on a lost game .
how much do you get for a MVP in the classic mode?
And the dynamics are entire different in those two modes, cause, one simple factor.
respawns instead of a single life.
I simply don’t get why they didn’t update the classic mode with this features? ( i’m not talking about rewards now ). Most probably to push helis down our throats
You go to the classic mode with a single life, you face well established Meta Builds ( hey, my builds are great against current Meta builds ) i would hate if they all of the suddenly went away, that would suck for me.
But the truth is other builds are not, overall the gameplay is not as fun, because despite of the helis that in most games can suppress entire teams, matchs in the classic mode are overall more cautious.
I face builds in Next step missions that are a hard counter to my build and i’m not talking about helis, i can go at them until i manage to ram them to death, taking piece by piece until i finally get the other guy.
And that’s a major difference
In the classic mode my only option is to run away, engage another target, avoid him.
I don’t like doing that.
To the bitter end and Next step allows me to do just that while having fun.
Do i like choppers? No.
Do i fly them ? No.
And since i can do the dailies without helis, i don’t fly my stock heli ever since.,

No, I’m not comparing Next Step with Classic Mode. I like them both. I’m comparing Next Step with the NEW Next Step. I don’t like bringing the beacons back to base with a 10pt limit. I like the 15pt limit.

I’d rather the old one next step, too.

I don’t like either, but the few times I have had to play this new mode it went ok, but only because I was playing with people who had no idea how the mode worked and just got easy wins because nobody could figure out you had to take the things to the base. No really the three battles I had, with different people, nobody seemed to have any idea you were supposed to take the points back to the base and were just killing each other and seemingly confused why the mode was not ending, and I could just take points back one by one and slowly win the matches without even having to fight, which took away the pressure of having to deal with annoying helis and walkers. But at that point why even play the mode if it’s only good when you’re driving around the map not even engaging any enemies that you find annoying to try to hit or battle
But I suspect that once people smarten up and know how to play the new mode it will be as unenjoyable as the old next step, and I for one am not going to be playing enough of it to find out because I do not like next step or next next step
