New Support Weapons (Healer, Control, Etc.): A New Frontier for Crossout

I would like to propose a new concept for Crossout: support weapons that expand the diversity of gameplay and open up innovative possibilities for team dynamics. These weapons would bring unique functions such as healing, controlling enemy movements, and enhancing teamwork.

Let’s go! I’m politely requesting that the Crossout team adds new support weapons to create new combinations.

One idea that could completely change the current scenario would be the introduction of “Healing” weapons. Well, in this case, I wouldn’t know exactly how to implement them properly. For example, a weapon that allows the player to maintain a “reasonable” distance from their ally and “repair” their broken or damaged parts. For instance, if a weapon was removed from the cabin, the player with this support weapon could “restore” the ally’s weapon, as well as other support weapons that could perform various functions, such as healing, crowd control, etc.

# Support Weapons:

  • Weapons that restore allies’ weapons.
  • Weapons that restore the structure of your vehicle.
  • Weapons that restore wheels and movement systems.
  • Weapons that reduce the movement speed of enemies (good for countering excessively fast enemies, which can become toxic to the game).
  • Weapons that reduce the enemy’s firing rate (for example, a machine gun would fire slower when hit).
  • Weapons that creat shield(bar) for allies.
These could be a new “grade” of support weapons that would cost a “reasonable” amount of energy points, such as 2–4 energy points.

To balance this in a satisfying way, vehicles equipped with these weapons would not be able to mount other categories of weapons. This type of gameplay would thus be more appealing to players who enjoy the “support” playstyle.

How to Score for Support Roles?

In the traditional gameplay, scoring is primarily based on the damage dealt to enemies. For support-focused roles, scoring should reflect their contributions to the team by repairing, assisting, or controlling enemies.

# So, does this mean I wouldn’t deal any damage?

Well, within the category of support weapons, some specific weapons with a similar effect could be included, like the “Acari,” which serves as a support weapon, or others like the harpoon, etc. These are weapons that don’t deal much damage but serve as support.

I believe this would bring a fresh dynamic to the game itself, opening new frontiers for more diversity in builds.

nice ideas, but don’t bother…team play is nonegzistant in this game…unfortunatly

They have this form for ideas ever since they killed off the idea section on the old forum:

I happened to have the link open from something else I was sending them.

I really like some of these ideas, and the basic concept overall. I’ve found that running a support build, like with Barriers, often encourages teamwork, and makes the overall match experience a lot more entertaining.

I think they could exploit an “Emergency First Responder” motif (I do when I do) for this line of technologies and it would be a fun fit. Perhaps they could establish this theme through a new co-driver (we could use one too), like a medic or grease-monkey, or they could get real focused and do a faction with a matching battle pass to pay the developers for their time.

The Punji might be a good example of a recent development in support role play-styles. IDK if it was a successful attempt or not, but I think they tried?

I wouldn’t say team work was nonexistent, but indeed it is a very beautiful unicorn.

Well, that’s the idea. Bringing more diversity would certainly encourage group play, duos, and even matches where you support your team.

In the current game, there’s practically no true support role, as everyone is a “damage dealer,” which is boring because the current meta revolves around the most “optimized” builds—those that hit harder, are faster, etc.

With the mechanics of new support weapons, playing with a very fast vehicle might not be as effective anymore against a team with a heavy tank being assisted by shields, repairs, etc. That’s just one example.

I’ve seen a few players who run no-damage builds with only support modules. They can make a big difference to their team, even if they score low.

I’m talking about the ones who run only kapkans, and dump a bunch around the enemy group to pin them down, or the ones that run multiple barrier shields and kapkans.

One build type that I’m seeing a few people running are big heavy quad meatgrinder builds, with a bunch of barriers and sometimes a skinner. They can do enough damage with their augers that they still score a bit, but mostly provide support.

i wouldnt make crossout into War Thunder + Valorant but its up to the devs to make bad decisions

they actually have this in raids, its a carriage towed on the back of a vehicle and they drop it down and it remains stationary. it can have either 2 weapons on it to shoot or it can have drones on it. these drones drive up to allies and repair them. i was hoping something like this would come into the game because it would be an interesting touch. even the carriage bit would be really cool to have, make a car to drag a small carriage behind you but the carriage is immobile and cant shoot unless its placed down. it can take damage and can be destroyed and would be more frail then your own build but its mainly there for support. it cannot have generators added to it but it can have ammo boxes and whatnot added to it. honestly i posted about it before and id love to have it implemented into the game but idk if the devs were interested or seen it. sadly the reddit community shoots down every single idea you put there soooo…

we technically have these, the spark 3 and flash do this as well as annihilators and jubokkos. they are mostly support weapons though but thats what they should be. kapkans also ensnare opponents to slow them down but they have limits. imo they got nerfed far to hard.

these can be achieved with repair drones. support drones that would be a good fit to the game. being put on an actual weapon wouldnt be ideal. in fact these could be very helpful in raids and whatnot. like i said above it would be fun to have more support weapons in the game that help allies. but not alot of people play the game as a team. alot of players are selfish and assholes especially in raids.

we have the barrier 9 and the aegis for this purpose as well as the nova cabin for that shield on the front. imo barriers like this are a bit overpowered and the nova was bad enough for a while with how it can just eat up cannon and scorpion shots. i think this is good enough the way it is for now unless the devs find a way to make it work well.

again the barrier 9 costs 2 energy and even then its very powerful for what it is. when fused its even more powerful. it used to absorb 2000 points of damage before it failed but it received a nerf before lowering the power of the barrier by a certain amount because of the energy lowered from 3 to 2. aegis received the same treatment as well.

all in all i love the idea of support weapons but i feel that drones would fit this category the best, having a physical weapon on your vehicle to repair is… not that good. you could have something like a heli drone to make repairs to nearby allies, a wheel drone carrying supplies to allies to repair weapons, wheels, armor, etc. you also have my carriage idea to with limited energy and whatnot.

Hmmm…nothing wrong with the OP’s ideas, and I don’t mean to shoot the concept down, but the game is built around single missions lasting a few minutes, maybe 5-10 for the advanced raids. Support staff to repair cars, modules, fix flat tires, or perform drastic surgeries, don’t seem to really fit in. Maybe if there was a multi-mission campaign-type mode, it would make sense. Joe mechanic is not gonna hop out of his car to do a lube job in the middle of an intense firefight.

My dad did a good bit of that in Vietnam. He described it as some of the most shoddy work he’s ever done, literally bailing wire and bubble gum type stuff. He did it fast and under fire and just crossed his fingers that any of it would hold together…so ya, I think that does happen sometimes.

Then there’s the life of an Army medic. God Bless those people. No kidding.

I like the repair drone idea. I think it’s as simple as flipping the principals of a Sidekick on it’s head, and the player scores points for every point healed.

A build that would outfit plows to the team mates builds.

This is a completely unnecessary feature/class that diminishes the importance of good building while buffing squads in voice chat.

I really loved the idea but i think you now add a new playstyle not just weapons , some of your idea like support or repair it must be a hardware with low energy , actually with this all moods will be played differently and more unique every game stand for it self .

Sadly while this is a neat idea, I don’t see it working that well with random players, and only making 3-4 person cheese squads even more of a cancer to deal with

I hear a lot of doubters, and let me point out (if somebody else didn’t) that most of these features already exist in game and would really only need to be sorted out and placed under one hat for this “healer” class character to emerge.

I’ll again suggest a co driver addition that is a field medic or navy mechanic that buffs the various perks of our already present support modules, like the Argus, Barrier, Daze, and has a supporting associated ability.

But wait. There’s more…

In order to pay for the developers time to make this arrangement, a battle pass, perhaps featuring that trailer hitch many of us have been begging for, and the module that is currently being used with it by bots for releasing maintenance drones in raids is released for use by players and is not bot exclusive.

A new faction with a bench making already available support modules craftable. It looks like many of these support weapons or modules are not currently craftable.

Most of this is simple menu arrangement and re-arrangment. Almost entirely. I know they have a new menu fetish. This feature almost creates itself.

They could probably make a bit of coin on the side by piggy-backing an Icebox pack sale in the store during the battle pass campaign. I see a lot of big-rig art builders that would love this trailer hitch, I think, as it’s a popular theme in bedlam and on Reddit.

It’s easy money compared to some of the stuff they do, I think. It’s mostly a menu arrangement and 2d graphics. Few, if any, new game dynamics would need to be developed.

But, they could fluff it up with a little bling, like the single-block colored emergency lights, or they could go all in and bring us a new cab. It could be anything from a light cab police interceptor (Crown Victoria? Mustang? I hear the Italians have been using Lamborghini for 20 years?), a medium ambulance cab, or heavy fire engine cab.

As for “weapons,” I suppose cops do carry guns, but they also rely on road traps, radios, flash-bang stun grenades, and tear-gas too. They could do the new (old already existing bot exclusive) healer-drone that launches from the trailer, and maybe that Fire-Truck has a perk that extinguishes some of that gddmn fire that’s all over the wasteland (would be a better perk than support weapon, IMO).

I think the idea has more potential than it’s being given credit for.
