Offensive builds vs Defensive builds

You are right friend, camping and sniping at the edge of the map would also be a defensive strategy.
But it must be hard at 8758 powerscore with only 1 scorpion and 562 hp.

Literally what you asked for, soā€¦ ok

Defensive builds can be effective, but they require more coordination to be effectively used. Coordinating with your team in regular PVP can be difficult due to the Randos on your team.

Some of the Offensive builds are very powerful and donā€™t require as much coordination. Rush builds are very powerful and people like to win so they will flock to powerful offensive builds.

so my K/D will go up as soon as crossplay is on?

Until you encounter a 13 kHP tank that can take all of your lances to the face without loosing much of the frame.

You are not a very helpful, friendly or articulate person in my opinion, and it seems to me you are just here to drag me down into your version of ridicule.

Thatā€™s the Lancerā€™s fault. If I was a lancer, I would rather target softer enemies than massive tanks.

Also, Firedogs have the ability to drive into almost any enemy they choose and quickly cripple/kill it.

13000 hp haha i have yet to see a player with that much hitpoints, but i guess its possible.

Iā€™m not sure defensive and offensive builds are as much a thing as offensive and defensive tactics.
I generally play small fast builds most of the time, and giant slow heavy builds the rest of the time, and I can play aggressively or defensively with either, depending on what my team is doing (or what the enemy team is doing).

To me, defensive is hanging back and rushing to support any allies getting attacked, while offensively is leading a charge or flanking the enemy position.

Itā€™s interesting that the PvP players says defensive builds are bad. I agree that tanking in PvP is pointless, even if the recent update to heavy armor partially fixed that. At 5k PS, thereā€™s just no room to bring cab dura, when you could be bringing 2 Parsers or that kind of cheesy crap instead, and mass limit is a mostly irrelevant stat in PS-based mm pools.
Tanking with cab dura is a lot more viable in CW, because mass limit becomes relevant, and PS isnā€™t. It seems useless if you half-ass it, but when you reach the critical point where you can tank a whole Blight activation/12+ lances without flinching, things change considerably. Think about how much you hate lances and flamers. Well, you can counter them simply by existing. Hard countering them, in the case of lances.

This said, I believe some defensive builds are viable in PvP. Full support builds are quite powerful, be it full barrier, full kaps, non-skinner/Tusk King miners, all that stuff is actually pretty strong from what I can see.

The gameā€™s also quite unintuitive in what makes for a good tank. Itā€™s wheels + no splash weapons. Other movement parts are too flimsy (except maybe ML200 because they tank trad melees like nothing else). Tank tracks especially are really easy to hit, die super fast from heating, canā€™t tank scorps, and have pretty bad tonnage/mass ratio.

ML200 have a rather bad mass/tonnage ratio  also - IMHO in most games defensive play just means you intend to loose a bit later. Tanking doesnā€™t mean taking damage because you can, it means taking damage instead of team member who is more specialized in damage dealing. Seeing how light cabins have slightly higher energy (and therefore higher possible weapon count/dps) on some PS ranges its obviously the idea behind it.
With new co-driver ā€œbackstabā€ perk it becomes even more viable - having enemies concentrate fire on you so your teammates can sneak around. But it only works in team-oriented play style.
The way most missions are going its more of ā€œleeroy jenkinsā€ taktiks (shoutout to old people here). Its not that tanks dont wokr well in XO - it feels to me it smore fo players fault for not cooperating.

Thereā€™s stuff in XOā€™s mechanics that make tanking damage quite a specialized task, tbh. Gens exploding, guns and wheels falling off, frames getting deleted by melee, or your engine falling off from a scorp shot, taking you out of the game instantly, etcā€¦ You canā€™t just slap high dura parts on a car and call it a day, like you can do with high damage weapons.

I think peopleā€™s problem with tanking is that they make a 3k dura mid-PS PvP car, and carry a fuel tank, fuel barrel, and Ampere gen stacked together, barely protected in their trunk :skull:
