On Test Server: Balance changes planned for the next update (21 October 2024)

I’m thinking those issues are deliberate. It’s a way of reducing the effectiveness of those over performing weapons without actually nerfing their damage.
And also allows players to make the choice to carry enough ammo to spam freely, but at the cost of extra explosiveness and PS.

Probably pretty close to reality with that. I think it might hurt them a bit too much with the change over though it’s hard to really get a good picture from just the little bit of test and go that I did.

Hardest part for me is going to be adjusting the dimensions of my builds to actually fit any ammo packs in. Normally I build really small and tight. So I’ll have to be a little extra creative if I want to keep anything near the same footprint size while adding in ammo.

Yeah, that’s my biggest concern too. Although I did fuse a rare ammo pack a while ago, and hopefully that might be enough for the kinds of weapons I use on smaller builds.

I have 2 fused ecpanded ammo packs, and my reapers can fire for quite some time (never actually timed it, but it is a while)

I’ve fused 4 of the rare ammo boxes over the years and even have some extra unfused ones too. I don’t think 1 would be enough for mini-guns. I’ve mostly done them for levi’s.

I just double checked these values for the ammo boxes:
Standard rare 30% ammo count
Upgraded rare 47% ammo count
Standard epic 110% " "
Upgraded epic 147% " "

Arb has 400 base ammo so the counts would go, using that ammo box list 520, 588, 840, 988.

How I’m trying to wrap my head around it is:
Per Shot x Ammo Count x Gun Count = Max dmg vs Durability of Enemy x Number of Enemies.

I’d ideally want enough ammo to kill every player in a match if I don’t waste too much ammo.

If we have the base dmg of the arb then we can figure out max dmg in a single crate. Then it has to be looked at against number of enemies and what their durability and their player count actually is. Some modes I think will be harder then others too deal with especially on PC as our matches can still go up to 8.

CC/CW/UW I think will be the easier ones to balance across platforms as they are all standard 4x4 players. So you can kind of look at the durability range vs dmg at a Power score. Then you can kind of question if it’s enough ammo.

Classic on PC will almost need double the ammo values though as it has twice the amount of players regardless if they are human or bot. I think we need to come back to a standard with this too really look at it correctly are we doing this for 4,6, or 8?

since when do energy based weapons use ammo of any kind? … minus pulsars and quasars.

oh sure just toss 400 ammo on a shotgun that can fire faster then you can blink. that wont go wrong at all!

plus… why does this weapon have such low ammo? sucky weapons need sucky ammo counts it seems.

how much do you want to bet AS SOON as this stupid update comes out they will put out a legendary ammo crate in a battlepass for us so we have to pay to get an advantage?

YEP! this is all i see as well. they has a simple solution, increase the amount of ammo that all reloading weapons have. instead they go nuclear on everyone.

and im betting this is why they are doing it. more content for season passes / battlepasses and more trying to get money out of the playerbase.

they have this option or make the amount of ammo on reloading weapons higher. give them more ammo because alot of weapons have such low ammo.

they are only making it more complicated though. this will require ALOT more time to balance and tweak. time that could be better spent on more productive things like new modes, new raids and DECIDING WHAT THE HELL THEY ARE GOING TO DO WITH COUPONS AND ENGRAVED CASINGS!

also i have a feeling this will mess with alot of weapons abilities as well. guns like the aspect, arbiter and gungnir and especially the cyclone will suffer for it because they need constant fire to achieve their max potential.

please stop giving them ideas for future battlepass items… :man_facepalming:

yep this is my concern to.

i got 12k of em sittin in my inventory. 12k casings 11k coupons. dunno what their gonna do with them but apparently they dont seem that important. :man_shrugging:

this is the issue i have. i have a small build that i use for speed and mobility. i CANNOT fit any kind of ammo packs on there without hindering my build in any way. this is just going to ruin my build.

oh btw the manitou will really suffer from this to. since weapons ammo is limited then your gonna need to risk reloading your weapon all the time for that 20% boost. yep they are going to screw over a ton of weapon and cabin abilities to.

Real life laser weapons have massive energy consumption, and plasma-based emitters (primitive ones, but they exist nonetheless) have ammo capacity, and a limited one at that.
Only one that doesn’t have an immediate explanation is spark.

a 6x4 frame can be replaced by 4 1x4 frames and fit a blue ammo box inside it.

I believe that ammo for revolvers uses one ammo to fill up all the chambers. So multiply that number by the number of chambers for the full bullet count.
And weapons that fire in a burst (plasma emitters, adaptors) also only use one ammo for a full burst, so multiply the ammo number by the number of shots in a burst.

Has anyone else tried the test server yet?

Even though I cautiously support this change, I do think they’re going to have to introduce ammo drops in PVP. Maybe when you destroy a corpse, it leaves some ammo?

spark is a tesla coil though isnt it?
i imagine the spark can be run like… you build up charge with the engine running and then unleash that electricity through the spark. the engine acts as a fuel source for the spark since it runs off electricity.

try that argument with the devourer and it doesnt look so good does it?
7 ammo but it has… 48 projectiles. the issue with this is it fires in bursts then needs to reload.
this is an issue because sure, it has alot of ammo in theory, but in reality it only has 7 bursts. thats not a whole lot because the weapon is full auto once it starts firing and itll waste all them bullets like it or not.

If they didn’t have ammo, that’d likely mean they have some kind of infinite energy source, and where have you seen a battery with infinite electricity inside? :laughing:

The engine needs a battery too though, and (again) batteries have limited energy.

Counter argument to my counter argument (because I don’t like these changes either tbh): when are they gonna limit our movement? Wheels need fuel to move ya know, so are they gonna add fuel consumption every time we move, and once we run out we are stuck? Also: hovers need a LOT more fuel than a simple wheel, and tracks need moderate fuel, because they are heavier (most of the time). SO if they add this fuel idea (hopefully they don’t), It would nerf hovers the hardest, and then tracks, and then wheels would be among the least nerfed.

well the cars in this game run on infinite fuel so why dont you explain THAT to me mister funny logic man? :smirk:

I didn’t get around to them but I believe that is how it works.

This goes into some of my issues of how they name things ammo vs volley and so on. I’ll have to wait for next weekend to try more stuff out. I really wish they would just leave the test server on for us though longer.

@Charlie9204_XO @DieselMD would you mind bringing this up in the weekly meetings. I don’t think anyone would mind hearing back a little feedback from the limited ammo situation. Perhaps Clear up any miss understandings.
