POLL: Blue Hovers changed to Legendary item

This is a much wider issue then hovers.

With the BS stat bars and nerfs to items from years ago that new people don’t know about like 75% (pull a number out my butt) of the items in the game are a noob trap.

Not factual - but I’m sure most people would agree.

Would say more around 60% and that is a problem, the thing is what is one mans newb trap is another mans meme build.

To many of the traps are actually good items but you have to specialize so heavily into them that it isn’t funny take plasma, Yoki, Leg builds, and even minigun builds all require so heavy specilization and fusions to bring upto par.

Meanwhile you have shotguns, MGs, and hovers which are good out of the box.

autocannons which require a minor amount of skill but are useful out of the box, and cannon well their ammo box requirement makes them a bit harder to use.

But outside of the base weapons everything else can lead you to traps with ease.

Sorry, I do not like this idea. This grind is long enough already, it would make the insane grind even longer. This change would punish newer players the most.

The rise in PS won’t stop seal clubbers from min-maxing their build for easier wins. All it takes is a few people to make an effective seal clubbing build before more people follow.

Do you like CW? This change would make an already insane barrier even more expensive. It would deter newer clans from wanting to play this game mode. On PC, CW is stagnant at best (Dying at worst.)

Making Hovers a higher tier would create more problems than it would solve. I think an easier and better solution would be to nerf hovers. Maybe nerf their speed, or make them more susceptible to Impulse and Recoil.

But it would push them into higher brackets and keep them away from the majority of the game population.

I try to stay out of the “hovers are OP” discussions because they’re typically the land of Salt and crybabies.

That doesn’t mean I don’t think they’re ridiculously overpowered - even after the nerf. If I want to farm or progress towards something, they’re still the go-to movement part. I just don’t enjoy playing them, so I typically don’t. I like my rig to look like something other than a spaced armor monstrosity.

So, I voted yes, but I don’t think that’s a complete solution. The overarching problem that’s been mentioned several times is the min-maxing people do - including myself. My favorite builds have Maces and Sledgehammers on them, but I know that if I really want to dominate, I should probably just slap some arbiters on an ugly hover & have at it. When I do… I have at it… It’s almost like cheating.

A solution to min-maxing might be to limit parts of different tiers to certain powerscore ranges.

Here’s a rough example of how that might look…

Relics can only be played on rigs above 14000 Powerscore
Legendaries can only be played on rigs above 11000
Epics…
etc…
Etc…
ETC…

I just pulled those numbers out of my butt, so don’t get too caught up on them. It’s the basic premise to limit seal-clubbing and min-maxing.

Slapping hovers into the legendary or even relic category would completely end the whole issue, I’m thinking.

I’ve suggested similar before just leaving it as 2 pool modes with strict filtering based on rarity. (epics and below and epics and above. )

{My comments are based off of upper PS levels}

I didnt play hovers until after 2.0…but i was always a supporter. I think some adjustments were needed at times but i never thought they were that much better than ALL other movement parts (heavy tracks will never be CW viable).

Without hovers, you have no need for melee builds. Fire builds would basically be done. We would go back to SG and Porcs ruling the wasteland. That would lead to boring gameplay very quickly.

Many may not like hovers…but the game needs hovers.

ETA: forgot to say I think i have the advantage vs hovers with those dog builds.

I think part of why hovers are overpowered is that they’re so easy to use. I know the hover lovers may disagree with me, but I think of hovers the way some people look at drones. But, unlike drones, it doesn’t take much skill (or even attention on my part) to be very successful with them. Slap a chameleon on a hover build & dear gawd does it get stupid. Just strafe left & right, pop out of cover, spray & pray, watch the radar and cloak n’ run if a dog starts charging.

I honestly don’t care if they change anything or not.

Like I said, if I want a different experience in the game, I just play a different mode.

I didnt use hovers before 2.0 because I could not control them well enough. I have no issue admitting that and have for years. That said, I think you must play vs bums if you think it is that easy to dominate dog builds. They can go 120, have cloak, and have verifier. I dont think they are OP overall but they are strong vs hovers.

While I have always supported having hovers viable, 2 things were routinely aggravating to me. First was how high they sit and 2nd was their resistance to flipping. They have better angles to strip other builds and could just back off of cliffs or run up walls and not end up immobile.

Car jack should be 0 energy.

There should also be a bit more impulse to a certain % of legendary weapons. Reapers used to spin hovers. ACs should have some impulse. Cannons should have a bit more. Thatcwould also help “level” the playing field vs ground builds.

Well, obviously! LOL

Now, against a good dog player, then the tides turn. But, that’s not even remotely close to being anything but an exception to most matches.

Just as an anecdote… I wanted to craft a Harpy, and had everything I needed except for something like 750 scrap.

Now, if I’m just normally tooling around in the game not trying to accomplish anything, I don’t play hovers. I don’t like 'em & I’m not that great with them. But, they’re easy.

I reeled in that 750 scrap in one morning. Something like 20 PVP matches doing massive damage with various hover builds (don’t do the math on that, I didn’t pay much attention). I get bored with hovers, so I swapped weapons on the same build repeatedly. I even accidentally left a K2 and ammo boxes on a build with autocanons & forgot to add a Seal for several matches & still managed to dominate several of them.

It’s just easier to play them on average. It’s not fun, but easy to do well.

Dogs are harder to do well with… meaning you have to be more careful how yo use them. You have to use more strategy. You have to pick your targets wisely, be patient, and sneak up on them. It’s more rewarding… more fun. If you’re good with them, I think you’ll do better with dogs than with hovers in the long run.

But, hovers are easier. Across those 20 or so matches, I wasn’t really trying that hard. I didn’t have to. Poke my head out, spray n pray, cloak n run… yawn. If I ran across a good dog player, I’d die… that’d give me time to refill my coffee & go pee.

I think the hardest weapons to do well with are drones - any of them. You CAN do well with them, but man, you gotta be :100:% on-point & in the zone to do it. No sitting back sprayin’ n prayin’ with them. It’s harder to well with them than dogs too since you don’t have any direct-to-consumer weapons.

I don’t really mind this “lack of balance” in the game. I know some folks hate it - thinking every weapon type should be equally easy to use. I don’t…

People often brag about their scores both here and elsewhere.

If they get those scores with porcs or a spray n pray hover, I’m… well… I’m simply not impressed. Not at all. It’s like bragging about how fast you fell down the stairs. Give those parts to a blind newb & he’ll do pretty darn good.

On the other hand, seeing someone pull that off with something like quad-hawk drone build or Adapters… now, that’s a player with skill.

I like that lack of balance. Separates the wheat from the chaff… and there’s lots of chaff out there. I should know. I’m chaff.

Edit… how did I turn that text white?

huh, so i was gonna make a poll on “are you a pay2winner and/or slow or have you played crossout for 10min and have a head on your shoulders?” but i guess i can just go die now.

I don’t even know what that meme is supposed to mean.

If you’re insulting me… HOW DARE YOU!

If you’re agreeing with me… CLEARLY, YOU’RE A GENTLEMAN OF FINE INTELLECTUAL CONSTITUTION.

that is actually a hilarious answer once you know the meme. i want to say you might be able to figure it, or not

Kinda like bananas, the monkeys still get to them but most other animals can’t

Salt is always good on french fries! Not so much on a forum!

I think that meme is what the people who like their faces sat on like to use … could be wrong!

Whether or not that’s an insult entirely depends on who the sitter is and who the sittee is…

keep guessing boys. really look at the picture too. i think this could function as a sort of quick test for certain conditions. i believe in you!

People fart and you can get pink eye from it, so no butts are going near my face and if one tries it, it’s whacking time!

I mean, I could do a visual search and accurately stay on top of the cool modern memes, but the wrong answers are probably funnier.

Just have them face the other direction?

Oh cheezus this is starting to go into porno site direction

No sir, no sir… that was medical advice!
