do pyres seem weaker to you all?
i mean to me they have a wide spread but i was using 6 of them (got them for some challenges and they were really cheap to so why not?) and they seem quite weak… i was doing maybe 300 - 700 damage per hit with all 6 with an average of 500. i thought they used to be more powerful then that?
just odd to me that they seem to weak.
When I first got them 3 years ago, I thought they were great (I was using 6 with the hadron and a reloader, and none were fused). After the rocket nerf last year, they just don’t seem so great anymore. You might try adding a trombone and heating up the target first, for better damage results.
I switched to hurricanes (not significantly better, but I haven’t done actual damage tests) but still keep the pyres on the racks.
i used the hurricanes back last year. the damage was good but the reload was horrible. id want to get them fused for reload speed. the pyres just seem so weak now. mine arent fused either, i was going to fuse them but with the current damage im thinking no way.
Using HurricAnes in 15000p cLassic, full time. Happy grinDing
Pyres are cheap for a reason. They used to be my favorite weapon.
Yes they are weaker than they were. I think theyre slow
they are ALOT weaker then what they used to be. i think they were nerfed cause of helis. i could be wrong but this is what i think.
as for their slowness they do seem a little bit slower then they used to but i think thats cause of the dusk cabin that was made for them.
hurricanes still seem to be playable but pyres dont. im seeing alot of people running hurricanes.
Yeah they have suffered a lot, mainly 4 big nails in their coffin
1st was the supercharged update, where their movement speed became way too slow to really catch up to enemies properly
2nd was the armor/damage resistances changes where they removed hit damage on all rockets and missiles and made them do explosive damage only, which about everything tanks and absorbs insane amounts, explosive damage as a whole took a huge L with those changes
3rd was the Helis, they had to overnerf them even further because of the heli mode
4th was the removal of Dusk’s original perk and to an extent the Steppe Spider being forced as the only rocket/missile cabin ever, before that you had some success, not great, with the dusk+pyre builds but then they killed them off as well
Basically they’ve been shat on repeatedly
ah yeah that sounds about right.
its a shame they are so weak now.
hopefully they get a buff soon because the way they are right now are just awful…
I use 2 Trombones,4 Pyres, cloak, Cyclops for challenges on a Harpy Heli, it’s around 10k ps. Super lazy easy mode and does well.
Yeah all that plus some is what i was going to say
Happy grinDing
STG
so i was using pyres for a bit and even with the steppe spider cabin… they are horrendous…
the damage output is absolutely terrible. even when an enemy was heated up by someones trombones / incinerator the missiles did such little damage i thought it was a bug. if i hit someone in the meaty bit of their armor i can do easily 1000 - 1200 damage. but if i hit anywhere else it seems to do 140 - 450 cabin damage and maybe 200 - 350 normal damage. the most common hit i would get is 350 with the lower ends being around 145 to around 180.
not to mention this is also with the jackie! i tried this in various ways, i tried adding the jackie to the missiles so that 4 out of 6 of them had a damage boost and even with that it was barely doing anything. so i made it so that 2 of them got the boost but still the damage is so bad. why are pyres 4 energy? with how bad they are now they should be 2 energy max.
Pyres are not what they used to be.
Have you tried using them from a copter? Alot of people armor around the sides of their build, not so much on the top. They seem to be more effective that way, especially if you can get close and have them come down at a very sharp angle.
has not being my experience, probably the next step context maybe a factor
But they are a pain in the neck to deal with.
I say deal…
It reminds me a lot of incinerators back in my SG days
and there you are occupied with something and out of nowhere a puddle of fire
now you have to stop what you are doing and fast and get away, before you soak up too much damage.
It’s the same with pyres.
and even if you zero in to that guy he can position himself out of your range and keep going for you, targeting your soft parts.
So much so i’m thinking in getting a set for myself despite from where i’m standing blast damage as a all seems to be getting nerf.
SGs, kings, missiles, which sucks
I was having a bit of success on a Satori Pyre backshot build (read “They needed extra 35-40% damage to feel usable in any way”) and now that they nerfed the Satori, that too is way more tricky to make work because of how bad the projectile speed and rocket turning is in general, while every build is way more faster and nimble than ever before in modern day crossout
Honestly they could just give them a flat out damage buff, since speed and maneuverability can’t be buffed because they just rolled it all on Steppe Spider. If they buff the damage, they’ll be at least somewhat usable on the Steppe spits on the Steppe Spider for hoarding all the rockets and missiles for itself and nullifying any reason to use any other cabin and if they would buff the overall moving and speed of the rockets, they’d be much more usable but become op on the Steppe whips it out and pisses on the Steppe Spider for holding back so many rockets and missiles from ever getting a proper buff after the devs just lazily kept buffing the cab and calling it a day with it on all missiles and rockets
they nerfed it in what way?
i did a small experiment and i mounted all 6 of my pyres on my build, i had the jackie positioned in a way so all rockets face up and they all get a boost. i did this first on a catalina / hadron and it was horrendous. movement speed for the rockets was really awful. turn radius was even worse… then i put them on the steppe spider cabin aaaaaaand… the difference was immediately noticable. they turned far better. but i was launching them stright up in the air, the reason i did this was to test their pathing and arching. i could hit things a bit further up if i used the steppe spider but it still wasnt exactly useful. unfortunately i cant test this with hurricanes as i dont have those. i imagine they would function about the same though. im guessing it would be more useful on a heli though but mounting them will be a pain.
Maximum perk bonus is now gained after 3.5 sec. of continuous drifting instead of 3 sec. and resets in 1.5 sec. after exiting the drift instead of 2.5 sec.
Not a big change, but especially on this backwards facing Satori Pyre build of mine very noticeable, basically before the change you could do a handbrake turn and shoot the backwards facing pyres at the enemy, with even a little “hang” time so you can hit the enemy a bit better.
Now doing the same just gives a 20-30% boost and you have to be even more precise on the time of turning/shooting, leading to way more missing missiles. And at that point there’s a lot of other easier to use cabins that give the same damage boost, but even 30% more damage is not enough for the pyres to really feel like anything, especially when they almost need the Steppe just to be able to hit any kind of a moving target
