Ravager story because I'm bored lol

The mission was to get into the ravager’s lair, and disable the shields for the ravager power crystal. It wouldn’t be easy, there were hoards of ravagers protecting it, all coordinating together seamlessly like one great hive mind, eliminating anyone who dared to get close. We were almost there, we just had to get to the ravaged control panel and disable it to destroy the crystal, eliminating ravagers, forever!! I could hear the cries of my comrades as they had their minds ravaged one by one, but I could not give up, not yet… and then… Blackness.

A few days earlier…

(out of breath) “Sir!!”

(angry) “CANT YOU SEE I’M IN A VERY IMPORTANT MEETING??!!!'”

“But sir!!”

(still angry) “WHAT!!!”

“We found it!!”

(less angry, more surprised) “Well, is it destroyed??”

“There’s been a few… complications”

(now angrier than before) “COMPLICATIONS??!!! HOW COULD YOU SCREW THIS UP??!!!”

“We were outnumbered, there were way to many, I was the only one that could escape before the ravagers took my scout team”

(now slightly less angry, but still annoyed) [sigh] “assemble all the units we have, we must destroy it!!”

(new person, a woman at a control panel, monitoring the radar systems for any threats in the area) “What about us?? What if it’s a trap to lure us away and they take our bunker before you get back??”

(The Boss, A.K.A. “Sir”) “We’ll be back as soon as we can, just let us know if anything goes wrong. Prepare the mechs!! We leave in one hour!!”

(The Scout) “Wait… what about me?? Please don’t send me back there, it was horrible!!”

(The Boss) [sigh] “You can stay, but we need those coordinates.”

(new person, The Communication Manager) “Have we confirmed with the Leader if we are permitted to-”

(The Boss, Interrupting) “We don’t need his permission, as long as it’s successful.”

(The Leader, entering the room) “What don’t you need my permission for?”

(The Boss) “Uhhh… We were just about to ask if you would provide reinforcements and supplies for our latest mission. It would be well worth your while.”

(the Leader) “Uh huh, what exactly do you THINK you found?”

(The Scout) “I found the Ravager Lair, it contains their main power supply, but we had to retreat before we got ravaged.”

(The Leader) “Well, I suppose if this is true, we can provide a few essentials. I’ll let the main base know, and we should be ready in a few days.”

(The Boss) “A few DAYS??!!! The Ravagers will have made significant counter measures to prevent us from attacking by then”

(The Leader) “We shouldn’t rush the invasion either, it’s too dangerous. Let me get the troops prepared, and we’ll be ready.”

The morning of the invasion

(New person, a Woman, The Scientist) “Okay I’ve given all the mechs some new upgrades, including a pulse shield, which acts less as a shield and more of a pushing force, Some new weapons, other new tech… You’ll figure it out.”

(The Leader) “Okay, let’s move out!!”

(The Narrator, talking to a comrade via radio inside the mech) “Hey, how bad do you think it’s gonna be?”

(The Comrade) “Shouldn’t be too bad, if it was really bad they’d have more troops here.”

(Another Comrade) “I see it!!”

There it was, a huge ruined structure, covered in black with glowing red eyes everywhere. It was unknown what it was before the ravager took it over. On top of it all, a huge spinning radar dish, with an eerie red light on the receiver that spun with it. You could see the light from a distance as it slowly got brighter, until it was almost white in the middle, and then faded as it rotated the other way. As we stood there in our huge mech walkers, the ravagers were getting ready for battle.

(The leader) “On my Mark!! 3… 2… 1… GO!!!”

We all charged, the ravagers infecting some of the mechs, others exploding from the bullets. There was so many explosions, each one deafening. There was a ring in your ears after every one of them.

After a while, there were no more ravagers, and we entered the huge structure. We were just beginning. Once inside, we quickly noticed it was quiet… too quiet…

(Random comrade over the radio) “Where are they?”

(Another comrade) “Perhaps they’re planning something… something big.”

Just then, ravager spiders fell from the ceiling, like rain or hail, and fell right on top of the mechs. Some of the mechs were infected, and we had no choice but to shoot them before they infected us too. Once they were dealt with, we pushed on.

Eventually, we made it to the central room.

(Some comrade guy IDK) “There it is… the Ravager power source”

(Another comrade dude IDK) “Why is it in a yellow bubble?”

(The Leader) “It’s a shield, it absorbs bullets and damages anything that tries to get through. It’s like the Morta energy waves, but on a much, MUCH larger scale.”

(Another random comrade) “So how do we disable it?”

(The Leader) “Try that control panel over there.”

(random comrade) “It looks to need some kind of encrypted code to disable.”

(The Leader) “Dang it!! Where the heck are we gonna get a code that can disable this thing?”

Just then, a much bigger ravager bursts through the upper section of the wall behind the control panel, followed by many more smaller ravagers. The guy at the panel is infected, and destroyed.

We tried to retreat but there was nowhere to go. We gave them everything we had, but there were too many. We were losing and then… Blackness.

I heard strange whispers, unlike anything I’d ever heard before, and then… a voice.

“Welcome Home, lost mind…”

Was I infected? I didn’t feel infected.

“The humans have fallen into our trap!! They like their trap…”

What trap?? My mind began racing. Were we going to die?? What’s going on??

I tried to move the huge mech’s legs, but The were stuck. They wouldn’t budge. I looks out the cracked windshield. There was no one left. The were all infected. I could see them inside their ravaged mechs, looking at me, watching me.

“Join us!! We will become one!!”

Black hydraulic hoses started beating against the windshield, cracking it more. Others started twisting and wrapping around me. I tried to move the mechs arms, and to my surprise, one of them moved slightly!! I extended the gun out of the wrist joint, and the ravager hoses entered the mech through the opening. But I wasn’t going to give up. I had a plan!! I aimed at the control panel, and shot it with my huge cannon. It sparked, and the exploded. The shield was malfunctioning!! The hoses were damaging my gun’s control wires. I aimed at the crystal, and… BOOM!!! The crystal started releasing little lightning bolts, then bigger ones, and then… a blinding light. I tried to look away, but it was so bright it didn’t matter. I put my arm up to shield my eyes, and I could see the bones within as shadows as the light went through my arm. Then, nothing…

I woke up a few weeks later, in an old hospital. The Leader was there, and a doctor.

(The Doctor) “He’s awake!!”

(Me) “What happened? Where am I?”

(The Leader) “You saved us all. Once the crystal was destroyed, the ravagers were disabled, and all the infected survivors were free from their control.”

(Me) “So what do we do now?”

(The Leader) “Whatever you want us to, Sir.”

(Me) “Wait… Whatever I want? I’m getting a promotion?”

(The Old Leader) “Even better, we’ve had a meeting, and we decided to make you the new leader, I’m too old for this, so I’ll show you what to do and then you’ll be on your own. You earned it.”

(Me, the New Leader) “I don’t know what to say.”

(The Old Leader) “Well, I suggest we get started with what you gotta do as a leader.”

(Me) “Okay, so what’s first?”

And that’s how we beat the Ravagers and how I became Leader of the Factions.

The End

If you read this, thank you, I’m not a great writer but let me know how I can improve.
If you didn’t read this, I understand, it was very long and took about 2 hours to write.

Nice little story, it’s always fun to see what people come up with and create, stories comics pictures drawings etc, in the settings of this game and it’s lore etc. On that note, I’ve got a short Ravager story too I’ll put into here:

The aftermath of a great battle many wreck scattered on the sandy dunes of a wasteland, a lone survivor belonging to one of the factions stumbles out from his smoking wreck of a ride. He grunts as he makes his way to an odd looking piece of wreckage on the sand near some other pieces of wreckage from various things, a backpack sized lump with many red lights looking into various directions, some of them in the bouquet of LED lights already fizzled out and broken. He sits down onto the sand next to the thing, opens a canteen and takes a swing while the lights on the part look around systematically, making whirring and whizzing machine noises as they move. A lone power cord coming out of the part fizzles and crackles.

“You know it’s time like these I think it would be cool if we could communicate” the man says, looking at the metallic lump, which does not seem to react in any way. The man takes another swing of his liquid, that by how he reacts to it must be something else than water and places it on the sand between himself and the part. “You bastards might be nuts and bolts and I don’t know wires and so on, but you put up a good fight, but at the end of it all are you too tired?” the man asks, but the machine does not react. The man pours some of the liquid on top of the metallic thing and now all the red little lights are pointing towards the man, who does not notice as he stares into the horizon. “Have a drink, for all your dead robot friends or whatever you are” he says and finishes drinking the rest. Then he looks down at the ground and sighs.

A few moments pass until the man speaks again, during which a few more red lights have faded out from the cluster of red eyes in the machine. “It gets lonely in the wasteland, especially for a man” the man begins, and then looks at the machine again and continues with “You guys are lucky you do not have reproductive stuff down there, the only reason I am in this mess to begin with is because the commander of this mission is a woman”. The man pauses for a moment and keeps staring at the machine that is just looking around in the same rhythmic manner, as if still scanning it’s surroundings. “Do you guys have reproductive organs?”. The eyes suddenly all whip to stare at the man, who stares back at the machine. Some seconds pass, and the man offers a small smile to the machine, and suddenly a voice rings out from inside of it disclaiming “SELF DESTRUCT SEQUENCE ACTIVATED”. The man quickly jumps away and starts rolling away in panic from the part as fast as he can as it beeps and eventually explodes.

As the man gets up, still alive, another survivor he had not noticed starts roaring in laughter at what he just witnessed, and then coughs up some blood. In the distance a few flickering red lights and the stomp of mechanical legs start to rumble closer.
