Remember the old crossout sponsored videos

Yall remember when crossout sponsored all those YouTubers, I remember waking up to a Russian badger, or Spycakes video, now I look back at the video and think dame those builds were so unprotected

These sponsorships are actually still happening. Mostly because Crossout follows the typical p2w mobile slop game approach.

You get a new player, they might even like the game at first. It’s actually designed to be likeable at that stage of the game - for the first 5 engineer levels you’re matched against bots with 20% damage and HP values, then you’re matched in “quick” battles only with newbies. Your progression is really quick, you gain new items, levels, parts, currency etc. really quick to keep you engaged.

At this point some people buy a pack or a battle pass.

Then the initial “wow effect” dissapears. Newbie gets ABSOLUTELY CURBSTOMPED after they get matched against people with hundreds of thousands of coins worth of items. They might buy a pack or a battle pass, but out of frustration.

But battle passes and packs are engineered in a way to not be playable out of the bat - like not having a great synergy or all the necessary parts to make a fully meta build. You need to either buy the remaining parts with coins, from other players… or with real money, straight from the devs. So the game becomes a cesspit for your money, and when newbies realise that (usually after they injected, like, 20-50$ in the game), they leave.

But as long as new-new clueless people replace them, it’s fine. Devs have their income.
This is why you saw Raid: Shadow Legends ads everywhere on Youtube a few years ago. They rely on the same tactics, once you see this pattern you wouldn’t be able to unsee it.

Also it should really ring a bell if any given company wastes tons of money on advertisements. Really great products don’t need (much) advertising for one, and for two, you as a paying customer pay for these ads - and your money isn’t being directed into improving the product.
