Hello survivors
Because of some computer troubles I had to reinstall Crossout and now I can’t save
my games settings. Crossout was installed to my HDD before and everything was ok.
The new installation is on my SSD where Windows is installed. I’ve done a repair of
the game files via the launcher but it doesn’t help.
Any ideas what to do to be able to save the games settings again?
It normally saves settings to a folder with this type of path: C:\Users\name\documents\my games\crossout . So I would probably make sure that folder is working and present.
Check the file permissions to make sure you have both read and write access to them.
The users section has write protection which is, as far as I know, a Windows thing
and normal behaviour. A friend, who is also playing the game and who I was asking
for help, too, said that his users section also has write protection and he can change
his settings without any problems. I’m logged in on Windows as admin and even
when I run the game as admin the problem is still the same.
System should have full, as well as Admin, Users just has read & execute.
Outside of your initial re-install, have to tried to install it again afterwards just to see if something went wrong with the first attempt? That’s something I would try just incase it was just some obscure error that didn’t interrupt the actual install process.
There’s only a few files that it saves config info into in that folder I mentioned before. I would try as a work around to see if you edit them directly if the settings stick. Just make a copy of them first and put them in a backup folder… It’s just a temp fix but better than nothing.
I would probably submit an issue request too: Community Bug Reporting System
Problem solved.
I don’t remember why I did it but I’ve set windows to store the documents stuff on one
of my HDDs (which is the data drive on my computer) instead on the SSD where my
Windows is installed. After reorganizing all the stuff on my computer I didn’t set up
the said documents folder and after doing so the settings for XO have been saved
there.
Thank you for your patience and help. ![ ](https://forum.crossout.net/images/emoji/twitter/slight_smile.png?v=12)

I’ve done it before, which is why I was asking about the folder earlier. Glad that it worked out.
