its hard to believe that when im wearing 6 sleipnirs and some butthole with 2 mech legs can push me around like im using banana peels for tracks. yeah some guy just did this and sent my build skidding off a cliff like i had banana peels on my tracks. wtf is with this ungodly pushing power that these stupid legs have? and how the holy hell can they push SIX sleipnirs?!
again some guy pushed my 6 sleipnir build with just TWO mech legs. not to mention my build weighs 16,169 kg so somebody explain to me how thats physically possible.
also i believe the legs were either tengu or flamingo… pretty sure they were tengu though.
Playing this game for years, I have learned to see that no matter what they promise in text or say they do, does not matter at all because usually in practice it does not work or is done horribly or not at all
Not to mention all kinds of shadow changes for no reason like altering the Locust hitbox way back so you can’t mount them on top of each other in a horseshoe build like you used to, making this gun drop way down to 300 coin territory from being able to take on 13k builds with good progress
So basically you have to take everything, good, bad, news, buffs, nerfs, promises, everything with a grain of extra course rock salt because this game really does not want to loose the whales but neither wants other people to stop playing so they throw around little nerfs, like -5% in a parameter, to pretend they are doing something because “We totally care please don’t stop paying but also whales the nerf does absolutely nothing in practice to your metabloat paypig build please keep giving more money pls”
The mechanics of the new mech legs are grossly out of proportion. Just as B.P’s past item’s are most likely always “O.P” in some way or another. In time after the newness wears off these menacing pieces of junk, I predict they too will be nerfed as its predecessors .
The pushing power of any build shouldn’t be determined primarily by the traction of the movement parts.
What is more relevant is how much mass the mech had compared to yours, and how much unused mass limit/tonnage the mech had, and what speed it was going when it plowed into you.
A lighter vehicle can and should be able to push a heavier one, if it is going fast enough and if it has enough unused mass/tonnage to free up enough engine power to do it.
looking at it it was a lighter build, i cant tell what cabin because they have it armored out the rear. still the build looked to be a medium to light build and mine is a medium build with the hadron. still though the sleipnirs i have shouldnt have been able to be moved, yet this guy ran into me and shoved me like i was made of styrofoam. not just that but he sent my build skidding, no joke, skidding, like it was on ice for a few feet. how the hell is that possible? i wasnt even moving!
the weird thing is i have come across some issues with wheels as well as the legs. if im running a harpy cabin with bigfoots i literally have no traction at all. its like im skating on ice at anything above mid speed. with a cheetah its far worse!
if i get hit from behind by a mech leg build they cant move me forward but they can shove me to the side then push me if they are on even a slight angle.
you should see how bad bigfoots are on a harpy with a cheetah, its fricken disgustingly terrible! even with maxed weight it slides around like a greasy patty on spongebobs grill!
from my experience these legs can get up to speed pretty fast but for me they are so awkward to use. also they are really fast for a leg…
yeah i came to expect the same honestly. even other wheels now are sucking really badly to. look no further then harpy on bigfoots with a cheetah. its so bad.
yep sadly. makes me wonder why i even bother with this game anymore…
Let’s assume you were both medium builds, although it’s possible they could do it with a light cabin in some circumstances.
Why do you think tracks should have more traction than mech legs? I feel like in real life, mech legs would dig into the ground, since all that mass is resting on two feet. Yes, tracks have more surface area, which provides some advantages, but that also means your mass is spread out over a larger surface, which means it would dig into the ground less and potentially slide easier.
This actually explains everything. If you are stationary, and the mech is hitting you at speed, the inertia makes for an impact force that is greatly amplified.
I play ramming builds probably about a third of the time. I’m not great at them, but I find the gameplay fun and exciting. The only way I can push heavy builds with a light one is if I’m slamming into them at speed. If we’re both stopped, and I try to accelerate into a heavier build, I can’t push. Although I haven’t tried any ramming builds with the mech legs yet. I have however rammed a lot of mechs using wheeled builds, and they don’t seem hard to push, if the circumstances are right.
Handling on wheels since the 2.0 update can be very slippery with some builds. If you are too light and too fast, it’s like ice skating. Once you pile on some mass it becomes easier to steer, but if your rear is too heavy you will oversteer heavily, and if you have too much mass in front you’ll understeer. Some of those effects can be compensated for by how you place your ST wheels and your non-ST. Putting ST wheels in the rear will increase oversteer.
Wheels slide a lot on sand and ice, as well as any wet surfaces. I think they need to dial back that effect.
But it might also be mass balance of your build, or that you’re using ST wheels in the rear.
I use Harpy more than pretty much any other cabin, and usually with either Finwhale or Oppressor, both of which are currently faster than Cheetah. It is possible to get it to handle nicely at high speeds, but often requires a lot of fine tuning. And even then, sand and ice maps are very slippery.
I found them to be very awkward to operate. The current top speed for they’re durability is O.P not to mention the annoying flight capabilities. Are they a game changer? I would say yes . One either relish’s them or despises them. I fall into the later . I have stopped playing XO due to them alone. Experience them in raids now flying far ahead taking 90% of the kill points and pushing you & using you as a meat shield. I have tried 3 separate times to adjust and it simply doesn’t click for me. I have tried to keep up on the BP challenges in a wheeled vehicle but as B.B King sang “The thrill is gone” . They are a game changer.
i experience this in raids sometimes, most of the ones i come across now are staying to the side. in cramped up places they can get in the way but people just mash the forward button and dont know how to let it go most of the time. that or they just dont care. in pve or patrol vs ai they are real jerks getting in the way, pushing you around, using you as a shield, etc. if you get frontier defense in rock canyon though its not bad. havent had many issues there.
dude they are so awkward! i tried to run around in my garage with the one from the battlepass right? well the mounting the weapons to the side of the build is just so… bad… it cuts your damage if you move anywhere but forward or backwards. if you move sideways your entire build tilts to the side cutting your damage. idk how the hell people can even drive these things!
i believe alot of things need rebalancing in this game. some things dont make sense with their durability to weight ratio or vice versa.
i tried the battlepass challenges but… it just doesnt work for me. ill do it just to get the narwhal i suppose because hey another thing to sell to get coins for another relic. but other then that meh.
its sad honestly. i wish theyd put more love and effort into this game. i love crossout but i just dont know why they would let this game with amazing potential go down the gutter like this.
